Dungeon disaster

Chapter 2

"Can I have a large black coffee please"

"yes, just a moment"

Handing me the cup of coffee i simultaneously gave the man at the coffee truck 5 dollars.

Looking around I noticed several people preparing for the upcoming D-ranked dungeon raid. Knowing that this wasn't going to be a severely difficult raid I had a pretty laid back attitude towards this whole thing. I would be looking at earning around 300$ if it all went as planned with no casualties.

If there were any casualties during a raid, the Hunter association would claim 50% of the earnings and would give them to the families who suffered loss. The president of the Hunter association Go Gun-he, is truly an admirable man. Awakened as a S-ranked hunter without selfish traits made him a favorite for aspiring Hunters, as well as the hope of all normal people of Korea.

People started gathering in front of the dungeon, and now there were around 20 people joining in on the raid.

A middle aged man with orange hair stepped forth and raised his hand.

"Is it alright with everyone that I'm today's leader?"

As the middle aged man named Song Chi-Yul asked to lead todays raid, no one decided against it because they knew how he was as a man and they knew how righteous he was.

"of course I don't have anything against that"

"Me neither!"

Arriving a bit late were jin-woo and Dae Kang, having run from the train station to the entrance of the dungeon in under 5 minutes, one could see sweat beads trickling down their foreheads.

"oh how nice of you guys to finally show up" a snarky comment went out of the crowd of people.

"we would've been fine without them anyway, they're just lowly E-ranks"

"now now why don't we all calm down, I'm sure they have their reasons for coming late. But, seeing how everyone that's supposed to show up have indeed shown up, why don't we enter instead of wasting more time?" Song Chi-Yul effectively got the tension away from the two only E-ranks participating in this raid.

everyone nodded and gave their confirmation on the matter before slowly making their way into the dungeon.

Upon entering the dungeon I immediately got chills running down my back. Looking around I saw that we were instantly sent into a circular room with 12 giant statues lining the circular wall

"what the fuck"

"this room is fucking huge!"

"Hey guys, I think one of them moved"

"hahaha stop spouting bullshit already"

"SHIIIING" (the sound of something cutting air)

Before I could even react, half of the hunters present were capacitated right in front of my eyes. The reason? one of the statues holding a giant spear had snuck up on us without a single person noticing! How does not a single person notice a giant statue, that should make the ground shake, sneak up and kill half our troops.

Now understanding what had just happened It took a second before i realised, I realised that we don't have a chance of defeating these statues, there's not a single fucking chance of us getting out of here alive.

Having already accepted the fact that we won't be leaving here alive, I started looking for jin woo. If I didn't get out of here alive, I would at least make sure jin woo would. Seeing that jin woo was still alive albeit frozen by fear I started running over to him.

As I was running, I saw that the statue that just annihilated our troops was raising it's weapon a second time, looking and aiming at Jin woo. I started to panic internally, 'what should i do?' 'what the fuck are these things' Upon realising that I had a sword placed at my hilt attached to my belt, I drew my sword, grabbing the sharp edge of the sword and pointing the hilt at Jin woo I pulled my arm back and with all my might I threw the weapon at Jin woo.

"WHOOOSH"

Was the only sound that everybody heard, a split second later came the statue's weapon down with a loud "BOOM" "CRACK". It was the sound of the spear hitting the ground and cracking it, creating a large cloud of dust.

Looking at the dusty cloud still running at full speed, I could only hope that I knocked jin woo over with the hilt of my sword.
