The rustling in the bush was actually nothing. Maybe Ray was just too paranoid. He continued to move cautiously, covering some distance until he encountered another wolf. Unlike the others he had faced, this one didn't have any striking qualities. It was just a plain grey wolf. Not wasting any time, Ray quickly rushed towards the wolf with his spear in hand.

Even though he initiated a sneak attack, the wolf was prepared. It dodged his attack effortlessly and moved back, assessing its opponent. Ray could see a glint of intelligence in its eyes, a bit more than the other wolves he had encountered.

"I guess this one has a bit of intelligence, a bit better than the other wolves," Ray thought. Nonetheless, it would still meet the same fate as the others.

Strategising a new plan, Ray rushed at the wolf and tried to stab it, but it dodged easily.

Stab.

Stab.

Stab. He stabbed multiple times, but each attack was skillfully dodged by the wolf.

"Was the only reason I defeated those wolves because I took them by surprise?" Ray wondered as his energy began to drop.

[Energy: 12/15]

He couldn't prolong the battle; if he did, the wolf would eventually gain an advantage, which wouldn't be good for him. Thinking about what Elric had told him, he devised a new plan.

Marching forward, he swung his spear in a wide arc, aiming for the wolf's head. The wolf, seeing the attack, stepped back slightly. That was a fatal mistake. The spear, mid-swing, transformed into a large black steel sword. If only the wolf knew who it was fighting, it might have had a chance, but the sword sliced through its head, exiting out the other side.

"Wow, the weapon shifter skill is even better than expected," Ray thought. The only downside was how much mana it consumed.

[Mana: 10/15]

But the more he leveled up, the less it would affect him. If the weapon shifter skill was this good, how amazing would the other skills be that he would unlock later?

Not thinking much more about it, he left the dead wolf behind and continued moving. He had to think; covering distance like this would be a pain. Ray needed to find a way to kill more wolves efficiently.

"If I remember correctly, there should usually be a place where all these animals spawn, right?" he mused. All he needed to do was find it. The last wolf he fought was heading somewhere, so he just needed to follow the path.

The next wolf he saw, he didn't approach it directly. Instead, he hid and followed behind the wolf quietly, moving slowly to avoid detection. He followed the wolf until they reached a clearing where many wolves were gathered. Some were sleeping while others kept watch. All of them were lying outside, but at the very back, there was a cave that no wolf seemed to want to enter.

Seeing all the wolves, Ray felt a surge of excitement. There was a massive pool of experience right in front of him. Looking at his experience bar, he really needed those wolves.

[30/200 exp]

Ray assessed the situation. Charging in without a plan would be suicidal. He needed to thin their numbers and catch them off guard. He scanned the area for opportunities and noticed a smaller group of wolves patrolling the outskirts of the clearing.

"Perfect," he thought.

He quietly moved closer to the patrolling wolves, keeping low to avoid detection. He waited for the right moment, his heart pounding in his chest. When one of the wolves lagged behind the group, Ray seized the opportunity. He lunged forward, his spear transforming into a dagger in mid-air. The wolf didn't stand a chance.

The other wolves quickly realized something was wrong. They turned around and saw their fallen comrade. Ray didn't give them a chance to react. He dashed towards the closest wolf, his dagger morphing back into a spear. The wolf growled and lunged at him, but Ray sidestepped and thrust the spear into its side.

The wolf howled in pain, trying to bite at the spear lodged in its body. Ray twisted the spear, causing more damage, and pulled it out swiftly. The wolf collapsed.

Two wolves remained from the patrol group, and they were now wary of Ray. They circled him, growling menacingly. Ray's adrenaline was pumping; he needed to be smart about this. One of the wolves lunged at him, but Ray was ready. He jumped to the side and swung his spear horizontally, catching the wolf in mid-air and slamming it to the ground. Before it could recover, he drove the spear through its heart.

The final wolf hesitated, glancing at its fallen comrades. Ray could see the fear in its eyes. He took a deep breath and steadied his spear, waiting for the wolf to make its move. It lunged at him, desperate and ferocious. Ray ducked under its leap and drove his spear upward into its belly, lifting it off the ground and slamming it back down.

Ray took a moment to catch his breath. He had taken down the patrol group, but the real challenge was ahead. He looked at the remaining wolves in the clearing. If he was going to level up, he needed to be strategic.

He noticed a cluster of wolves resting near the cave entrance. They seemed more relaxed, less vigilant than the others. Ray crept closer, using the shadows to his advantage. When he was within striking distance, he transformed his spear into a bow. Drawing back the string, he aimed at the nearest wolf and released the arrow.

The arrow struck true, hitting the wolf in the throat. It didn't even have time to yelp before it collapsed.

The other wolves were startled, looking around for the source of the attack. Ray quickly nocked another arrow and took aim. He fired, hitting another wolf in the side. It howled in pain, drawing the attention of the others.

Ray knew he couldn't stay hidden for long. He shifted his weapon back into a spear and charged at the disoriented wolves. He thrust his spear into the wounded wolf, silencing it.

The remaining wolves snarled and lunged at him. Ray parried their attacks, using his spear to keep them at bay. He managed to stab one of the wolves in the leg, crippling it. He finished it off quickly with a thrust to the chest.

Just as Ray was starting to feel confident, he noticed movement from the cave. A massive wolf, much larger than the others, emerged. Its fur was a deep black, and its eyes glowed with a fierce intelligence.

"This must be their leader," Ray thought, feeling a mix of fear and excitement.

The leader wolf growled, and the remaining wolves backed away, giving it space. Ray knew this was going to be a tough fight. He steadied his spear and prepared for the battle.

The leader wolf charged at him with incredible speed. Ray barely had time to react. He sidestepped and swung his spear, but the wolf was too fast. It dodged and lunged at him, its claws grazing his arm.

[HP: 12/15]

Ray winced in pain but didn't let it distract him. He focused on the wolf, looking for an opening. The wolf circled him, growling menacingly. It lunged again, and this time, Ray was ready. He ducked under its leap and drove his spear upward, aiming for its belly.

The wolf twisted in mid-air, avoiding the blow, and landed gracefully. It snapped at Ray, its jaws closing inches from his face. Ray shoved the spear forward, trying to keep the wolf at bay. The wolf batted the spear aside with its paw and lunged again.

Ray rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack. He got to his feet quickly, his mind racing. He needed to end this fast. The wolf charged at him once more. This time, Ray didn't dodge. He stood his ground, waiting for the last moment. Just as the wolf was about to hit him, he transformed his spear into a large hammer.

The sudden change in weapon caught the wolf off guard. Ray swung the hammer with all his might, hitting the wolf square in the chest. The impact sent the wolf flying back, crashing into the ground with a thud.

He finally hit it but when it stood up it had no damage at all, as if he had never hit it before. The wolf now seeing the damage took a bit of some distance backwards. It went very far confusing Ray but it still swung it's claw even though they were a bit of some distance apart. Even though he was confused he could still feel the danger, but it was already too late. As massive claw marks and a rush of pain entered his body.

He didn't even have a chance to react to the attacks, as his body turned into pixels.

The next thing he knew he was back at Elric's cabin, Elric was calmly sitting at the side reading a newspaper waiting for his return.

He couldn't believe it, it still felt too unrealistic for him to believe, he was basically one tapped just by a boss's skill. He checked his stats just to make sure.

He couldn't believe it, he was really killed. He could easily kill a group of wolves without losing any HP, but just one creature, just the boss was able to kill him so easily, how much was the difference between a boss and other normal NPCs in the game because clearly there was quite a difference.

"How was your adventure, seeing as you were killed and your in level one that means you were in level 2. How was it, did you like the game." questioned Elric with a straight face.

"First of all, the game was pretty nice,

Secondly why didn't you tell me about the wolves and other creatures

Thirdly can you tell me all you know about the boss of the wolves

oh and why the f*ck didn't you tell me i could feel pain." questioned Ray with an angry tone and expression plastered on his face
