5. Peter likes me

After school Jesy walked to her mum's class to help her mum carry her food bag home ,since her mum would be staying at school a little bit late.

Jesy adjusted her uniform as soon as she entered her mum's class, this was an habit she cultivated when she newly entered secondary school,always adjusting her uniform, sometimes her mum wonders if the uniform is her size or not.

"Jesy ,why do you like adjusting this your uniform? Doesn't it fit your body perfectly?"her mum asked her.Her mum was marking her pupils notebook so she didn't look at her daughter's bemused face when talking with her.

Jesy looked at her uniform to confirm if the dress was really loosed or if she just couldn't help the feeling that she liked adjusting her uniform,"the uniform fits my body perfectly ,it's just an odd habit I am unable to get rid "Jesy replied her mum.

Her mum looked at her and was admiring the beauty of her daughter today with her new hairstyle ,"you look extremely beautiful my daughter,this your hair style fits your face very well ,see the way it outlined your face"Jesy's mum praised.

"Thanks mum ",Jesy replied.

"You are welcome my love,but when I told the woman to make this style for you, you complained o",her mum said.

Jesy smiled accepting the fact that her mum was being honest, she actually refused at first ,not because she didn't like the hairstyle but because ,the hairstylist's hand was painful and she couldn't tell her mum, since they could only afford the price of the hairstylist.

Jesy took her mum's steel food flask and Plastic water bottle then ,she arranged them into the food bag pack ."mum , am going home now o", Jesy told her mum.

" Ok my dear, when you get home just make cassava flakes and serve the palm kernel soup for you and your brother, each person should collect one meat", Jesy's mum instructed her.

Getting home, Jesy hurriedly removed her brown sandals that was hurting her legs and stretched the legs ,she removed her white socks so that her legs can get fresh air and then she took her things with her into the room to change into more comfortable clothes.

She wore a blue striped Top and denim shorts then, she entered into the kitchen to prepare what her mum instructed her to do so that when her brother comes back ,they will just eat together .

After preparing the food she sat on the chair beside the table already served with food waiting for her brother who always comes from school very late due to his unnecessary meetings and discussions with his friends.

As she sat down quietly she found herself thinking about Peter, the guy everyone in the class thinks as her guy .

Her thoughts were disturbed by her brothers rude consistent knocking on the door."Do you want to pull the door down, what's with that rude knocking",she scolded her brother.

He didn't answer her immediately as he ran into the toilet to urinate, "I was pressed and I couldn't bear it any longer hence,I became impatient and banged the door like that" ,favourite replied her.

"Ok ,no problem ,I don't know what's holding daddy and mummy from repairing the lock of the door,it's not like it's expensive, they just keep on forgetting anytime I remind them",Jesy said.

"Go and change your clothes let's eat",she added.

Favourite took his bag from the sitting room where he previously dropped it on the floor due to his haste to relieve himself and entered into the room to change out of his uniform into his casual outfits.

"I saw Peter with you today, I heard from some of your classmates that , something seems to be going on between the both of you ", favourite said.

"Which of my classmates did you see discussing about it?"she asked him as she continued swallowing the sweet and tantalising food she was eating.

"I saw Joy and Peter's brother , Paul, talking about it", favourite replied her.

"O ,so they are the ones carrying the fake news about me and Peter being a couple,I will confront them politely tomorrow",Jesy concluded angrily.

"They discussing about my life shows no respect for my privacy and it's so irritating" ,she added.

"It's ok ,you don't have to work yourself up with such issues after all, you have no business with what they are saying", her little brother advised and together they cleared the table off the empty dirty dishes and favourite took the dishes into the kitchen to wash them.

"That's true, I don't blame their actions because it's so obvious that Peter likes me,I really don't know how to sought this mess, but I will keep on looking for a way to stop this nonsense before it gets to where it isn't supposed to be heard",Jesy replied.

"So you mean Peter has crush on you?"favourite asked his sister.

"Yes ,Peter likes me, but am not ready for such trivial matters that's why I can't except his love yet",Jesy replied.

Jesy's dad sat down in the dining section of the room eating his food and discussing with his co-worker who came visiting.

"ETD pension might be held back the way am seeing it", Jesy's dad said.

The visitor who was an elderly man ,sat opposite the dining room where Jesy's dad was eating his dinner"why do you say so?",he asked Jesy's father....

Just as Jesy's father and his friend were discussing ,someone who was so scared to his bones knocked on the door.

Jesy's mum who was in the kitchen got out to open the door, she cleaned her hands with the hand towel on the door of the kitchen and removed the nail which was used to support the sitting room door.

"Good evening ma",the young man greeted.

Jesy's mum did a quick scan at the boy and suddenly realised that this was the same boy whom are daughter was rumoured to be dating in school, she looked at his face and studied his reactions swiftly, she found out he looked so innocent ,so she knew her daughter would be able to handle the situation at hand."it's better to allow Jesy handle this case herself",her mum thought to herself.

"Evening my son, who are you looking for?"Jesy's mum asked him even when she already knew the answer.

The young man with his face down due to fear stated that he was looking for Jesy ,her mum called her out of the room and told her that she had a visitor, Jesy who was having a nap and who was already angry that she was derived of her rest just opened the door and with a very surprising look ,she said almost shouting as she locked the door behind her"it's you".

Smiling sheepishly, Peter answered that it was him and no other person, he narrated to her how ,he was bored at home and decided to take a stroll and since he's twin brother did not come with him ,he was so scared of knocking on the door, he told Jesy that her mum was friendly and welcoming ,Jesy just smiled at him and they discussed a lot of meaningless things according to, Jesy's view and mindset.

"So you are saying ,that you find it difficult to study ,but am being a motivation to you",Jesy asked him finally finding something more relevant.

"Yes , that's true ,since I came to this school and we've been friends ,you have been a great motivation to me and I don't even know how ,but the thought of you gives me the motivation to do better", he said to her .

Jesy was in total disbelief, she thought it would be easy to discard him but seeing that he even took her as his role model in education, she became confused and decided to rethink her decision.

Peter looking so happy finally decided to go home to Jesy's relief, she escorted him a little and they parted ways.

While returning home, Jesy met her church member Esther , who told her about their executive meeting which is to take place next week at their church headquarters.

"Are we going to wear our sweat shirt on black skirt or just our normal gown",Jesy asked Esther.

Esther is an average tall girl ,with an hourglass figure and natural pink lips ,she's the model used in most makeup stores located in ETD.

"The uniform will be just our gown ,if there's any change will be told in church on Sunday", Esther replied.....

When Jesy returned back ,she met her father sitting outside the house receiving fresh air , she entered the house to meet the sweet aroma of soup are mum was making.

"Hmmm ,this smells nice, the whole house is filled with the sweet savoury odour", Jesy said complimenting and accepting the fact that her mum is a professional when it comes to cooking.

"So who's that young man that came visiting..",her mum asked her pretending like she knew nothing about him and waiting for her daughter to open up to her.

Jesy told her mum who Peter was , told her everything he told her and how she's finding it difficult to sending him away."..am finding it difficult to send him away so, I have decided to let him be with the condition that he mustn't cross his boundary",she said.

"That's good,.."Jesy's mum said feeling relieved that her daughter wasn't being too easily swayed by her emotions. She just needs to control her emotions and suppress her urges if she wants to attain something in this life, her mum thought in her mind as she stirred the soup.
