Namikaze Minato could not help but smile as he gazed down at his beloved village from his office.
Over fifteen years, that's how long it had been since the day he took the hat and became Hokage; fulfilling his third dream. The first dream he had fulfilled had been his wedding of course and the second was the birth of his children, even if that last one had been something of a bittersweet moment due to several other factors tied to it.
Factors like a masked maniac coming out of nowhere, kidnapping his wife and then unleashing the strongest Bijuu in the world upon his beloved village; which had almost caused its destruction and caused deaths of hundreds. Leading him to seal the fox into his son and daughter by using a very experimental sealing matrix.
So yeah, the memory of the day was somewhat bittersweet.
Though there was also one other thing about that day that Minato looked back with less than pleasant emotions. The difference was this one was more of a personal guilt.
"Are you thinking about him again?" Minato jumped as he realized that he had been far too immersed in his thoughts and did not realize that his wife had entered his office.
"Kushina, is there something you needed? Or did you just miss me?" He asked with a mischievous smile that died a rather ugly death at the hands of the unamused look his wife was sending him.
"Don't try to change the subject, you girly looking moron." Kushina said as she poked him at his chest, making him wonder why his ANBU had decided to abandon him.
"I know that look you had on your face, you were thinking about Shido again weren't you?" The redheaded woman said with a sigh and a frown on her face while Minato slouched back in his chair.
"I can't really help it, I kinda ruined his life after all." The Hokage said with a sigh, remembering the aftermath of the battle with Kyūbi.
They had found an infant Tennoji Shido among the rubbles with a team of ANBU guarding Minato, the reason for such protection after the battle was over? It was because, for a reason that no one could even begin to properly understand, the infant form of Tennoji Shido was releasing chakra that was almost identical to the Kyūbi.
Learning that the chakra had been coming from an infant had been… hard to swallow. Hell, some of his ANBU had actually looked ready to draw their swords against the infant and probably would have if it hadn't been for Minato. Or if Shido's chakra had not calmed down, making him feel similar to any other infant except for sensors.
After the other higher ups; which consisted the clan heads, the elders and the ANBU and Jōnin commanders learned about Shido… the reactions were varied.
Most of them were not sure how to react to such a thing, some of them wanted to lock Shido away in case he was a danger and Danzo had, as always, wanted the kid under his command so that he could be trained to use his anormal status to help their village.
It took them almost an hour to make him drop his demands, and the rest of their lives to wonder why they still kept him around.
It was among these demands that Minato had a rather interesting idea and for the first time in his life, did something out of pure selfishness.
He ordered everyone in the room to keep the knowledge of the fact that his children were the new Jinchūriki and made the knowledge an S ranked secret. Then he told the villagers that Shido was the new Jinchūriki instead.
It had seemed like a good idea at the time. His children would become targets the moment the news of their existence reached the other villages because of who he was, the other villages probably wouldn't want to take any chances on whether his children will become army killers like him or not. Add to that the fact that they housed the power of Kyūbi? If the third Raikage was still alive, the maniac would have restarted the war just to kill them.
So he decided that a child who had a chakra signature so similar to Kyūbi would be the perfect smokescreen in order to protect his children. He would have ANBU protect him from unsavory elements anyway. It was the perfect plan. Except for one thing…
He had not considered the reaction of the villagers.
"The villagers have ostracized him due to me declaring him the Jinchūriki." Minato said with a sad look that begged for sympathy, which was answered with a snort from his wife instead.
"You are being a drama queen. I was ostracized by the village in my younger years and I turned out great." The redhead said with a smile so confident that Minato could not bring himself to tell his wife that she had been arguably the biggest delinquent in the history of Konoha that did not become a missing nin. Mostly because he did not want to sleep on the couch.
"I understand that you have this idea of how you have to be perfect and make the village perfect, but that's bullshit Minato." Kushina continued, capturing his attention.
"Is Shido's life the best? Of course not. But we both know he could have had a far worse life and that if you had not did what you did then the Kumo may have known that our children hold the power of Kyūbi. The kid's life might not be the best, but the bad rep he has due to us has protected our children. So you should not regret your decision, for it is similar to hating the fact that you have protected our children." Kushina said with a nod before smiling.
"Besides, Shido has made a good friend with that Utahime girl hasn't he? So I would say his life isn't that bad."

"Remind me why I haven't destroyed this village again?" I asked as I just glared a dumb merchant out of trying to cheat me out of my money for his low quality vegetables.
"Because we are not strong enough to do so, yet. And because there are many people in the village you still want to bring to your bed. Are those reasons enough for you, Shido-sama?" Iori asked with a sigh and I was reminded why buying her when the company had given me my points had been one of my best ideas, she was smart.
"Now let us go, Shido-sama. We need to go and complete the worthless graduation exam of the academy." And she could be sassy.
"Very well." I said with a chuckle as we slowly made our way towards the academy, getting glared from the villagers around us. From people that could not even properly to understand that I could kill them with one hand and minimal amount of effort if it wasn't for the big bad shinobi around us that they had gotten used to.
Konoha, truly, what a dump.
