"So, these… 'Grimm' are monsters that have been trying to eradicate humanity for centuries." I said as I sat before Ozpin and Goodwitch, waiting for the guy before to bring me my orders. Of course Ozpin was paying, so I decided to eat like I had just got myself poisoned in order to heal another poison that was already in my body.
"That is right mister Baki, we do not know of their origin but ever since the earliest days mankind walked the surface of Remnant, Grimm were also there; trying to destroy us." The headmaster of Beacon said with a nod before continuing.
"But what I am more concerned about is that you do not know what I just told you, something everyone else knows about in Remnant. So please tell me, who exactly are you?" He asked as he put his elbows on the desk and joined his hands together, Gendo Ikari pose.
"As I already said, I am Hanma Baki from Tokyo. And I don't know what these things are because we didn't have them in, more or less, the whole world." I said with a roll of my eyes, easily getting into the character.
"Which is another dilemma as Grimm had been an enemy humanity has been facing for..." The rest of Ozpin's sentence was cut short as the chef brought the meals. A small serving of steak and chicken for Ozpin and Glynda respectively, while my orders covered the rest of the table; containing anything from simple soups to vegetable dishes and meat dishes.
"Thank you." I said to the chef with a nod but he simply walked away with a weirded out look on his face, one that was copied by Ozpin and Glynda as they looked at my meal. Honestly, it was like they never seen someone eat more than one plate.
"Speaking of dilemmas, are you really sure about eating this much?" Ozpin asked with a pale face, wimp.
"I haven't had a chance to eat breakfast since I woke up in that forest of yours. I would have eaten one of those... 'Grimm' was it? I would have eaten one of them but they just turned into smoke after dying." I said with a shrug as I started to eat one of the many dishes on the table, ignoring the very disturbed looks Glynda and Ozpin were sending me.
"There are so many things wrong with that sentence, I am not sure where to start." Glynda said with a sigh as she too started her meal, likely deciding that if she couldn't beat me she might as well join me.
"Mister Baki..."
"Just call me Baki, I am not a mister." I grumbled at Ozpin.
"Baki then. Can you please help us shed some light onto your situation? I feel that we need your help in order to understand how exactly you woke up in the Emerald Forest without knowing anything about Remnant." The old man said with a sigh and I ended up snickering.
-----------------
He was snickering. Why was he snickering?
"Sorry it's just... It's just this whole situation reminds me of a certain type of story from my home." Oh stories?
"Can you tell me about those stories?" Ozpin asked curiously, he himself was something of an expert in stories after all; fairy tales specifically. Especially since his past life had been a part of several of those stories.
"Well, less story and more a genre. It's called 'isekai', which roughly means 'other world' in my language." The young man said with a smile.
"A story of an ordinary person waking up, or maybe even reincarnating..." Ozpin almost flinched at the 'R' word. "...in a world of fantasy. A world where they know of almost nothing and go on adventures." He said with a chuckle and Ozpin found himself smiling.
"I am guessing you liked those adventures." The headmaster of Beacon said and the young man practically swallowed a steak with one bite in front of their eyes before answering.
"I actually liked its subversions. The kind of stories where the main character is far too weak or get taken advantage of, the stories where they think more about the realistic aspects of waking up in such worlds." Baki admitted with a laugh and Ozpin decided that he would not press this topic any further, definitely not because the young man's laugh was somewhat scaring him.
Instead Ozpin decided to ponder on the young man's capabilities. At the thought of 'capabilities' his eyes immediately went towards the tower of empty plates by Baki's side and shook his head. What he wanted to think about was the young man's performance against the Grimm.
Baki had no aura and no weapon, yet he had managed to fight Grimm for hours with no sign of difficulty. As a matter of fact Ozpin knew of several professional huntsmen that were not as good as the young man before him. Admittedly those huntsmen were not Beacon graduates but still. More importantly, the knowledge that such a great battle prowess was standing before him made Ozpin's instincts as a teacher go haywire as he decided.
He wanted to see this young man's potential bloom.
"Baki, do you have any plans for the future?"
"Huh?" The young man made a noise of confusion with a beef roll in his mouth.
"Baki, I believe that until we find some way to send you home; you might want to search for a new path in this world..."
"If you want to recruit me then just say it, old man." Baki said with a roll of his eyes and Opine actually stopped at the derogatory nickname, he wasn't sure when was the last time someone had the balls to call him that to his face. He motioned Glynda to not to react, curious about where the young man would go from there.
"You saw me fight those so called monsters, something about it piqued your interest and now you want me to keep fighting them. If I'm wrong then say it." The young man said with a snort and Ozpin found himself smiling, weirdly endeared by the blunt way he was being spoken to.
"No, no you are right." He admitted with a chuckle before continuing.
"The thing is you fought against Grimm for hours without aura or a weapon. For most people doing such a thing without either of those things is impossible, let alone both of them. That is why I would like to offer you a place among this year's student body." Ozpin said with a smile as he clasped his hands together, ignoring the look Glynda was giving him.
"There will be a few things I will need; like money, weapons and a place to live."
"Deal." Ozpin said immediately.
"Cool, one last thing. Where are the bathrooms?" The young man said as he scratched the back of his head with an embarrassed smile.
"It's at the right side of the end of the corridor." Ozpin said and watched as the young man walked away to the one place kings went alone.
"Ozpin." And then turned around to see his deputy giving him a glare.
"I might be wrong, which I actually am not, but I believe that the quota of the students for this year was filled. As a matter of fact we were just about to send the acceptance letters." Glynda said with a dark glare but Ozpin decided to merely wave her away.
"Just change mister Arc's letter to saying that we no longer accept students with fake transcripts. That opens up a space for young Baki." Ozpin said with a sigh even as something at the back of his mind was telling him that he had done a mistake.
"What?!" Oh yeah, Glynda didn't know about mister Arc's situation with fake transcripts... oops.
