"Hello there! Welcome to Bio-world where everything you want can bend to your will with the snap of your fingers! Want a new Bio-screen, but OH NO, you don't have enough Bio-credits to pay for it. :( Don't sweat the cost! Just give us a drop of your DNA and that new limited edition Bio-screen will be your's for the taking! Wait, you don't want to give us YOUR DNA. That's fine as well! Have a child! We'll take your child instead until your debt is paid! :) We promise to take good care of them! Now, remember nothing is as safe as Bio-safe!" What if there was a world where money was not the only source of income. Where technology no longer ran on just wires and metal mechanics. Screens, communication devices, etc all operated on your DNA. Where children of the poor can be sold for products all for their genetics. To fight in arena's for the rich's entertainment. They still have a chance at freedom if they don't die first. Being genetically modified is nothing new to Mute. Being a genetic reject isn't something new to her either. Mute is a Sui-generis. Just one of the rare genetic defects of the Perfect Bio-World. To everyone else, including Mute's teammates, the Bio-world can do nothing wrong, but Mute knows what really goes on behind the Bio-screens. Knowing the truth, Mute will do everything she can to escape the Bio-world, and get back to the one person she cherishes most. But when escaping fails, Mute's world gets thrown into chaos, and it takes every bit of will to keep her world from spiraling out of control. With the smoke lifted, and sold by the Snake Queen herself. The Sui-generis have to take a new look at their not so perfect world. They have two options adapt or be erased. Can Mute save her teammates from making the same mistakes she did or will they all shatter like pieces of a glass from a mirror?

I Lied, Purgatory Was Here.

Chapter 5

Part 2

I Lied, Purgatory Was Here.

His powerful neck flexed as he rolled it side to side. He slowly crouched down, resting his arms on his knees. His light brown eyes, scrutinizing us in careful detail. His voice silky and deep to my ears, almost as if he was flirting instead of ordering. Maybe he was a tempter, someone who was able to use their sexual appeal, and voices to influence their preys.

"Someone, please rise, and prove me wrong." None of us moved, still panting from exhaustion. No, he wasn't a tempter. If he was, that sentence alone would be enough to make us try again.

He sighed, his large chest rising as he pulled in a deep breath. He waved his right hand as he spoke.

"If this is all you have, then we might as well plan our floating capsules now. Otherwise, it's pointless to even show up to the tournament." His smile went crooked. "We've been at this for three days and I haven't seen an ounce of improvement." He sighed. "Elvira spoke so highly of your skills and abilities. I figured by now you would have at least made this a lot harder for me." I narrowed my eyes as his crooked smile grew larger. "I guess I can say I underestimated you or Elvira exaggerated." Cocky bastard. I knew what he was doing. He was trying to beat us while we were down. It was unnecessary, and he knew it. My dragons vibrated from a hiss they sent his way. I rolled my eyes. Even my dragons wanted a bite at him. He glanced out the corner of his eye at me.

I quickly glanced away and coughed, trying to cover up my dragons' hissing. He knew I had them. He just didn't know how alive they were, no one here did.

His eyes narrowed at me before he glanced away his eyes going dark and serious. His crooked smile slipping off his face. "That's enough for today. Rest and shower. Training will resume earlier tomorrow, and I expect improvement, or next time your punishment will be more severe than early practice."

His bare feet still silent on the brown grass moved forward. The sound of his robe billowing in the wind was the only sound that could be heard as he left the training area. It was silent for a few minutes before Drakson whistled, shrugging his shoulders.

"Welp, you heard him, ladies." I peered through my curtain of hair and watched as Drakson descended from the balcony he spectated from. He paused and winked at us before resuming his whistling as he followed out the same door Xanth did.

The door sliding shut behind him with an audible click. This guy was enjoying the torture we were going through, and lived up to being the asshole I knew he was. He led us into an ambush with no warnings and enjoyed every minute of it. I knew his so-called "kindness" was just a damn act. Thank the gods, Zaylee realized his little act as well because she immediately ceased her flirting. Even went about ignoring Drakson altogether.

"This is such Gow shit." Zaylee spoke across our link. Even her telepathic voice sounded exhausted. We made sure to keep our conversations over the link now because the last time we strategized out loud; it somehow got back to Xanth. Let's just say it didn't end well.

"How the hell are we supposed to fight this guy if we can't even get close to him." That's a good question.

I leaned back resting on the back of my heels. Zaylee sat up her blue hair sizzled as she sighed.

"That's just it Zaylee. We can't fight him not if we can't lay a finger on him." Kira replied her voice cracking, still recovering from the time Xanth used Daisha's hand to throat punch her.

"This is not what I thought when Elvira said our leads would be training us. This was supposed to be training. Not only is he treating us like shit, but he's also going harder on us than Elvira ever did."

"And that's saying something" Zaylee chimed in.

"You're right Kira. This is just plain torture" Daisha added pushing Zaylee's foot out her face.

"If we can't even lay a finger on him, then, there's no way we can be ready by the start of the Glacial tournament."

"Damn, we are doomed. How are we supposed to survive this? Especially, with Glacial Tournament still three months away." Kira admitted.

"That's just it. We can't." Zaylee's words were met with silence as we all came to the same agreement.

"This sucks Gow balls." Zaylee sighed.

All of our links jumped with our agreements. Masha's iridescent, white line sparked as she spoke.

"I could just sneak into his room and eat him if you like." Our links froze in unison.

"Masha, what the..." Zaylee's blue and purple link spiked as she laughed. I saw her roll off Daisha. It looked like she was hurting but I knew she was laughing. Masha covered her mouth with her hand, and Kira leaned forward hiding her smile behind her hair.

We were all exhausted but this laugh was needed for them even if it didn't relieve our failure of the day. I sighed before rising on shaking legs. They were all still laughing, and I wanted no part of the horse playing. Laughing off today's failure wasn't going to win us the Glacial Tournament nor save our lives. I needed time to think.

I signed to Masha about going to take a shower disappointment flashed in her white eyes. I ignored it, moving toward the exit without looking for her reply. "Mute, wait, we need to come with a......" Daisha's voice cut off as the door slid shut behind me. I had no intention of coming up with plans with them. Her "plans" weren't working. We had tried Daisha's way and failed repeatedly. Now, it was my turn and I had no intention of failing.
