Jamal's Warnings
Sabrina watched Jamal's inscrutable expression as he applied the ointment on her back; the healing salve felt strange on her body.
It felt cold against her burning skin, and that was soothing on its own, and Jamal's deft hand was soothing as well.
"Will you continue staring at me, firefly?" Jamal asked his eyes on her injured back.
"Yes, I will," Sabrina whispered; she didn't know what had gotten into her; she was supposed to despise him because if he had not made her a slave in the first place, she wouldn't be in this situation.
But if he hadn't come to save her also, she would be dead by now, although she did not understand the point of her being alive.
"You will have to take your eyes off me to rest for a little bit; you need to sleep; when you wake up, you will need to eat; I will leave now so you can rest," Jamal said, his voice bland as usual.
