Cold Without You

(Later, Lynnon wakes up cold and with a sore face. She curls up into a ball before realizing something. She gasps and quickly sits up. She looks over and the space next to her was empty. She hugs herself, continuing to stare with a sad look)

Lynnon-" Ezekiel..."

(No wonder she was cold. She had always woken up with Ezekiel holding her so she was always warm. She turns and on the nightstand, she sees a note)

Good morning Bear. I had to leave for work so I left you a breakfast parfait in the fridge to eat. I'll leave early but still call me if you need anything or want me to come sooner.

(Lynnon sighs)

Lynnon-" I want to call him... but I don't really need anything and he's probably busy anyway"

(Lynnon looks away)

Lynnon-" He'll be back later. Why am I acting like he just left me and won't come back for years"

(Lynnon rubs her head and gets out of bed. She walks to the fridge and grabs the parfait Ezekiel was talking about it. In it was standard vanilla yogurt with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and almonds. Lynnon watches TV as she eats when she suddenly gets a text. She looks down and her eyes sparkle)

[Ezekiel: You awake bear?]

(Lynnon quickly reaches for her phone, almost dropping it but she manages)

[Lynnon: Yes. I'm up]

[Ezekiel: Can I call you?]

(Before another one of them could even send another text, Lynnon takes initiative and calls Ezekiel herself by facetime. He picks up and smiles)

Ezekiel-" Good morning princess"

Lynnon-" I-I woke up a bit ago"

Ezekiel-" Says the one still with a bed head"

(Lynnon glances up and becomes red. She quickly fixes it)

Lynnon-" I don't know what you're talking about"

(Ezekiel chuckles as Lynnon takes another bite of the parfait)

Ezekiel-" Is it ok?"

Lynnon-" The yogurt?"

Ezekiel-" Well.... parfait- But yes overall"

Lynnon-" It's good. Thank you for making it for me"

Ezekiel-" I'm glad. I don't make those often"

Lynnon-" I mean- I don't know how you could mess up yogurt and a few fruits but I'm glad your glad"

Ezekiel-" How's your cheek?"

Lynnon-" I'm fine..."

(Lynnon glances away)

Lynnon-" Well... my cheeks fine"

Ezekiel-" What's wrong? Did something happen?"

(Lynnon sighs)

Lynnon-" I just miss you is all"

(Ezekiel smirks)

Ezekiel-" I've only been gone a few hours"

(Lynnon becomes flustered)

Lynnon-" I-I k-know. I just... you weren't there when I woke up... I was cold... And now I'm home alone..."

Ezekiel-" I only have another hour or two but do you want me to come home now?"

Lynnon-" No no no! Say at work. Don't bother"

Ezekiel-" Are you sure? It seems you seek my presence"

Lynnon-" I-I'm ok... I can wait..."

Ezekiel-" We'll watch whatever you want when I get home"

(Lynnon softly smiles)

Ezekiel-" There's that smile"

(Lynnon sighs)

Ezekiel-" I better get going. I love you"

Lynnon-" I love you"

(The call ends and Lynnon is left looking at a reflection of herself in her phone. An hour goes by and Lynnon hears the door clicks. An imaginary set of dog ears shoot up from her head and she looks over at the door before running to it. Midway, Ezekiel opens the door and closes it. He looks forward at her running over to him. He walks forward and bends down a bit, ready to catch her. She gets to him and jumps, hugging him in the process. He stands back up straight while to two of them hug)

Ezekiel-" My poor baby. Left alone with no one to talk to"

(Ezekiel kisses the side of her head)

Ezekiel-" I missed you my sweet Bear"

(Lynnon bends back a little and smiles before giving Ezekiel a kiss. The night was the same as all the others)
