It was quiet as usual, my mother and I were eating together at the dining table in our house. Every day was like this, there was no sound except for the clashing of spoons and plates. Mom never spoke to me, and neither did I, I didn't have the slightest intention of starting a conversation with her.
"Tell me what happened to you yesterday?" for the first time my mom started a conversation with me.
"There's nothing to tell because nothing happened."
"Then how come you suddenly fainted like that?"
"Haha... for the first time, you care about what happens to me, but it seems like you're asking not because you're worried about me, but because there's something you want to know that seems to have caught your attention?"
"You're still as annoying as ever Elliot, since childhood until now you haven't changed at all. That's what makes me dislike you."
My heart was completely shaken after hearing her words. Doesn't she realize that my attitude towards her is because she started being cold to me? When I used to want her attention so much. I tried and tried to get her attention, but in the end, I always ended up being ignored. I didn't want to experience that disappointment again, which is why I stopped trying to get my mother's attention. Even though I still had a mother but in my eyes she no longer existed. I also never called her mom anymore.
I remembered my dream last night that had made me recall the memories of my past.
"Do you know anything related to Uncle Sight's death?"
Hearing my sudden question, it seemed like Mom was so shocked that she almost choked while she was devouring her food.
"Why are you asking that? That incident has long since passed. Don't tell me that you still can't forget that incident?"
"How could I forget that incident, his death was so mysterious. I'm sure someone killed him very sadistically. I'm just surprised at you, weren't you friends? If I'm not mistaken, you've been friends since childhood right?"
"Well that's true, we were friends. Then is it because we're friends that I'm going to know what happened to him that took his life?" then there was silence again...
It seemed like Mom had finished her meal and was about to leave. "I saw it... that time you smiled at Uncle Sight's funeral."
My mother looked very surprised to hear my words, looking at the expression on her face it seemed like she had something to hide. I didn't want to argue with her for too long, so I left her who was still standing there in shock.
I went back to my room and lay down on my bed. I remembered that day. A day filled with sorrow, the day of Uncle Sight's funeral. Uncle Sight was famous for his friendliness and social skills, so everyone knew him. I'm sure everyone who knew Uncle Sight's kindness would feel sad like me. There were so many people at his funeral that day, everyone was crying, all mourned and felt lost at his passing. Especially Fredert, she cried hysterically without stopping.
How could she not, she was now an orphan as both her parents were gone. I could see that everyone present there was sad, except for one person. Yes... it was my mother, who was standing in the back row. There wasn't the slightest hint of sadness on her face, even though she, Uncle Sight, and Krad's mother were friends. To my great surprise, I saw a smile on my mother's lips.
"Why... why was she smiling that day? Instead of feeling sad that her best friend was gone, she looked happy. What exactly happened that day? From the surprised expression that I thought looked too much from my mother earlier, when I told her that I saw her smiling at Uncle Sight's funeral, it made me even more suspicious. I'm sure my mom must know something. Someday I'll find out the truth about the horrible events of that day."
After muttering to myself like that, I began to close my eyes and slowly fell asleep.

If I recalled the strange incident two days ago, when I was somehow able to go back to a few minutes before Emily was hit by the bus, or was it just a foresight that God gave me about what was going to happen, as well as the strange feeling that I could feel the presence of my two best friends Fredert and Krad, I really couldn't concentrate on following the lesson.
I was currently in class and a teacher was explaining a subject matter. But I really couldn't get my mind off the strange events of the day. I decided to find out what exactly had happened to me that day. There should be information that could explain this strangeness. I should start looking for it by reading some books and maybe I can look for it on the Internet too. Starting today I will try to find that information.

"Hmmm... so delicious... you're getting better at cooking Emily."
I was eating lunch that Emily deliberately made for me. Almost every day Emily always makes me lunch and it helps me because my mom of course never makes lunch for me. Although sometimes I felt bad for Emily because every day she had to make lunch for me too. It must have been a hassle for her. But I was grateful to Emily because she was so kind and caring to me.
"Are you sure you're well Elliot? If you're still feeling unwell you shouldn't have come to school in the first place."
"I'm fine, I was just tired at the time anyway. You don't need to worry. By the way, thank you for taking me home that time."
She responded with a smile that was so sweet. I'm grateful that such a miracle happened. Otherwise, I might not be able to see her sweet smile and eat her homemade food anymore. I don't know how my life would be without Emily, because all this time, she was always there beside me. I can't imagine and never intend to imagine my life without Emily, I must feel lonely.
"Today I got the picket duty, can you wait for me, Elliot?" Emily's voice broke my reverie...
"Oooh ... you get picket duty ... hmmm ... how is it? Today I want to go somewhere."
"Where do you want to go?"
"Just to the library, there's a book I want to read."
"Haha... unusually, you want to read a book. You're usually so lazy to read books." I felt a little annoyed hearing Emily's teasing.
"Alright, then you go home first."
"Yes ... I'm sorry I couldn't wait for you."
Emily nodded with a sweet smile. How understanding she was today, even though she was usually a pushover.
The bell that signaled the end of recess rang and we hurried back to our class. I couldn't wait to get to the library so that I could start my investigation as soon as possible.
