Plans

Ivy sits on a corner of a desk in between Callie and Jackson as Owen leads a staff meeting, "I have one last thing to say. Some of you, uh, may run into Arizona Robbins today. It's her first day back," the attendings cheer at that, while Ivy realizes she has to face her again after yelling at her the last time, "So if you see her, just make her feel welcome."

"Or maybe...maybe just don't make a big deal at all. It might be better. Unless you're Ivy Shepherd," Callie says, looking at Ivy.

"I know, I know. I gotta apologize," she mumbles, taking a sip of her coffee.

Derek looks between her and Callie, "Why do you have to apologize?"

Alex answers for Ivy, "Cause they got in a screaming match last time they saw each other."

Ivy goes to answer but Owen interrupts, "Noted. Thank you. Oh, oh, hold on. I just want to address one more thing. Um, most of you are aware that a group of our doctors have filed a lawsuit against our hospital. Some of you may be wondering what this all means and how it's gonna affect our staff. I'd like to be clear. It doesn't... at all. Let's just let the lawyers worry about that. That's their job. Our job is to continue to work together and support each other in giving the great standard of care that we have always given. Let's not let something like this get in the way of that. Thank you."

Ivy quickly leaves the room, heading to the pit to see what they've got.

She looks at a chart thats handed to her and realizes the date, "Oh crap. It's the 10th."

She sees him about to help a patient, "Jackson. I need to talk to you. Like, now."

"I- all right," he follows her into a conference room, "Whats up?"

"I'm late."

He looks at her confused, "For what?"

Ivy glares at him, "A week. I have never been more that two days late in my life."

He shakes his head in confusion, "A week late for... oh. Oh. Oh...oh..."

"Any way you could form a coherent thought faster?" Ivy sasses.

"Theres a possibility that you're not pregnant-" Jackson starts.

"Jackson. When I say I've never been late more than two days, I mean it. I'm a freakin clock," Ivy tells him.

He tries arguing, "We use condoms."

Ivy tilts her head to the side, "You're a doctor! You know they break or-or are only like 99% affective."

Jackson sighs, "Okay. Um, we're gonna have you pee on a stick, and-"

"No. I have a sister who's an OB, and a former sister in law who is also an OB and they tell me to never trust a stick. Um, we're gonna get my blood drawn and then find out the results and either be- honestly I don't know. Relieved? Excited? Worried? I don't know," Ivy rants, starting to pace.

"You're right. We'll go draw you're blood right now. Okay? And no matter the results, we're in this together until the end," Jackson tells her, cupping her face.

Ivy nods, "Yeah. Yeah, okay. Um, let's go."

They leave the room only to be met by a nurse and a group of paramedics, "Dr. Shepherd, we need you. 14 year old in a horseback riding accident. Hypotensive and bleeding through his bandages."

Jackson nods at her, "I'm around all day. So, text or page me later. Okay, love you."

"Love you too. Wexler, Lewis, trauma one, now," she yells to a couple residents near by.

Ivy asks Alex as he walks in, "Can you take over the ultrasound? He's got abdominal tenderness, and I have to handle his bleeding. It's looking like a lacerated femoral vein."

"My sneakers," the patient says.

"Whats that?" Alex asks.

The patient tells them, "Don't lose my sneakers. They're 200 bucks."

"Thats why his leg slipped through g h the stirrup. You have to have a heeled shoe when riding," Ivy remembers from when she was little.

Alex smirks, "Kid spends 200 bucks on sneakers, he's obviously not the king of awesome choices. All right, there's possible blood on the upper left quadrant."

Ivy nods, wrapping the leg, "Okay, let's get him up to C.T."

"Hold on. Wait for Robbins," Alex tells her.

"Are you kidding me?" Ivy looks at him like he's crazy.

"Shes on her way," Alex defends.

Ivy gestures to the kid, "He just got dragged twenty yards by a horse."

Alex argues, "He's totally stable. I know you two haven't settled your argument, but it's her first day back."

"He did a stupid thing. I'm not gonna let it ruin his life. Move the gurney, right now. And Alex, stay out of my business," Ivy orders.

Ivy texts Jackson to meet her in a room and waits patiently. She hears the door open and turns, "Jacks- sorry. I thought you were..."

"You two having a sex date?" Meredith asks as she grabs something.

"No. And not everything is about sex," Ivy says, tensely.

Meredith stops and looks at her, "You okay?"

Ivy nods, "Yes. No? I don't know."

"Ivy."

Ivys voice breaks, "I didn't have an official plan, but I had a plan. We were gonna be married. Our wedding would be small and intimate. We're both surgeons so we couldn't plan super far ahead. Derek would walk me down the aisle like he did for Kathleen, Nancy, and Liz. I would tell him I was pregnant with some sort of shirt or something that said World's Greatest Dad. Now look at me."

Meredith looks at her, "You're pregnant?"

"I think so. Well, I don't know."

"Plans never work out the way you think they're going to, especially with babies. You try and try to get pregnant, and you can't. And then a baby comes when you least expect it, probably because you didn't plan it. Plans don't mean anything," Meredith advises.

Jacksons voice comes from behind Ivy, "Hey."

Meredith dismisses herself, "I was just leaving."
