Silks of Heaven

It's funny how warning signs can feel like they are butterflies. When an internal dialogue sprouts like reed, but just like cacti, becomes spiky. A rose blooms but overthrown by the thorn. Lying in cold blood, will she hold on when the hand she wants to hold is a weapon-end?

Katherine found herself seat belt-strapped to the front passenger seat of Maxanen's white Porsche. She blankly stared out of the window, trying to distract herself from Xan's yapping.

He was totally out of control. What pained her even more was that she still helplessly and effortlessly looked at him with eyes full of deep love, after all that he had knowingly done to her.

Why was he even playing dumb? Maybe all of it was just some big misunderstanding.

"Maxanen, may I ask you a question?" Kathy looked into his eyes. Xan fixed a firm gaze on the road. "Why should I answer?" he muttered. Kathy rolled her eyes.

"Who is Jade?" He darted a glare at her as the car came to a sudden halt in the middle of the narrow tarred road. The irises of his eyes enlarged as his gaze grew wider. Silence surged back and infiltrated the atmosphere.

"W-why do you ask?" was all he uttered. "Is her name taboo enough to stop the car? Maxanen, who is Jade?" She asked once more. Kathy noticed his quivering hands, barely holding on to the steering wheel. So, it was true!

"Jade is one I love. She was and will always be a very special part of my life, one I cannot run away from, unfortunately. My childhood love, I should admit. We are going out this weekend. I honestly meant to tell you."

Katherine abhorred him as her face gradually turned as pale as a ghost.

He confessed with his own mouth that she was not the only one. In fact, Katherine was the other woman.

Blackness filled the rims of her hazel eyes as she sunk back into her seat.

"Now that I have told you, answer my question!" Maxanen announced. Katherine glared at him, plastering a harsh slap across his face. "You disgust me!" she scorned.
