With his future base established Shikamaru went back to the hidden leaf, Releasing his shadow clone he took a moment to realise that his dad had found out that he was only a clone and that he had made a good friend in Choji Akimichi and even Ino Yamanaka, he had also played with Naruto a couple of times, when his memories showed how Naruto was being treated his eyes hardened and he went to where Naruto was, to aid Naruto he created a seal that would allow his to transmit information into someone directly in a dream cycle, instead of creating a different persona to teach Naruto he used his memories of Naruto's older self and stealthily placed the seal.

It would teach Naruto the transformation technique in his dreams and advice him on how to get his daily needs without sabotage, in case Naruto's monthly stipend was being messed with he decided to have Naruto treat the Hokage to a meal boasting about how much money he got this month. His dream lessons would involve how to learn by observation and how to make certain information received would be accurate, and just to make things seem more natural, he decided to teach Naruto how to get people to underestimate him by doing the bare minimum. With his first good deed done for the day he went to his clan compound to talk to his father about his plans.
