Prologue

I woke up in a strange room...

Where am I? I remembered I was on my way home with...

I was too occupied with my thoughts and someone knocked on the door.

"Come in, Jeremiah..."

Jeremiah? Who is that? And why I know who it was and his name?

A tall slender man with white long hair came in with a cup of tea and a letter on the silver plate. Jeremiah says,

"Good morning, young master. There is a letter that just came, and it is for the young master."

I took the cup of tea and the letter.

I sip my tea while I'm opening the letter,

"To Alkaid Vortre.

We invited you to our beloved daughter's birthday and debutante, Lady Reine Delphinus on September 19th at the Royale Grand Palace.

Alkaid? Reine? Somehow those names are very familiar to me...

I stood up and I passed the mirror. I saw a glance of an auburn red-haired young man. I walked backward to check the mirror. That was me, auburn red hair with dark purple eyes.

I stared into my own eyes through the mirror and suddenly I had a headache and fell on my knees. Jeremiah hurriedly helped me and put me on the bed. He left to call the doctor to check on me.

I... I remember everything...

My name is Mikhail. I was on my way home with my girlfriend, her name is Ellen. We had a huge fight and we broke up and then we got into a car crash... so I guess that I died from the car crash and reincarnated to this world... but what about her? Did she also die from the accident or is she still alive...

Alkaid and Reine are the characters from the novel that we used to read together, The Autumn's fall of love. Our favorite novel that we found in the old bookstore. Reine is the heroine of the story and Alkaid is the villain. Reine is the only child of Marquees Delphinus and her father is the emperor's closest aid. Alkaid is the first child of Archduke Norton Vortre and his father is the younger brother of the emperor. Alkaid has a younger sister and she is the best friend of the heroine, her name is Natalia.

The story of this novel was about the heroine's love story with the crown prince, his name is Ruben Regulus. Alkaid was envious of Ruben, and he schemed to bring the fall of the empire that Ruben ruled on, but nothing went as he planned. Knowing that all his plans are useless, Alkaid desperately looked for another plan, and that was when he noticed that Ruben fell in love with Reine, Alkaid kidnapped her and locked her for his own satisfaction at first, but then he also fell in love with Reine and treated her like a queen because Reine's kindness and with her vulnerable situation made Alkaid realize that what he did was all for nothing and it was too late to be forgiven. It was the same for Reine as well, she discovered that Alkaid is the most sweetest and kindest person she ever met. Since his only purpose is to make Ruben's life miserable, nobody knows Alkaid's real personality and he had to act as he abused Reine in public. When Natalia discovered that Reine was imprisoned in the dungeon not far from the Vortre's mansion. Alkaid poisoned his own sister that is strong enough to make her in a comatose state to shut her mouth, but Natalia already gave the information to Ruben. In the end, Alkaid got sentenced to death by hanging in front of the public. Before his death, Alkaid smiled at Reine and he said something that can't be heard because the people were screaming in joy at his death. Reine who has been staring at Alkaid knows what he said. Alkaid's last words were,

"I'm sorry, Reine... and thank you."

Reine fell and cried. People looked at her and showed their sympathy for what happened to her. They all enraged and told the emperor Ruben to immediately execute Alkaid. Nobody knows the reason why Reine cried that she couldn't even stand on her feet, they all only assumed that it was all because of the trauma she had when Alkaid locked her up in a dungeon, including Ruben.

The truth was that Reine couldn't bear to see Alkaid's death and she was devastated that she couldn't help him because Alkaid's requested her not to and to keep it secret from anyone until her last breath. Reine realized that she also fell in love with Alkaid, but it's too late for that. In the end, Reine married Ruben and became the empress with Natalia by her side.

Ellen and I were devastated when we read the ending. We both were cheering for Reine and Alkaid to be together. We have been reading that novel since the day we are dating. It was a long journey, 4 years together, and read the novel together no matter where we are or when the novel released a new chapter.

I sighed and then Jeremiah came back with the doctor. The doctor checked my pulse and my eyes. He said that I was exhausted and all I have to do is to get some rest. After he said that, Jeremiah immediately left to bring the breakfast to my room.

When I closed my eyes to remember my past life memories, the door busted open, and a small girl with long auburn red hair came in with her eyes filled with tears. She ran and jumped onto my body. She is Natalia, my sister. She crawled and sit on top of my body. She asks,

"Are you okay? Are you sick, brother Alkaid?"

I smile and reply,

"I'm fine, the doctor said that I'm just exhausted and need to rest."

Natalia asks,

"Then you are not going to have breakfast together in the dining room with us?"

I nod and reply,

"Unfortunately yeah, I have to rest in my bed for today. So I will have my breakfast in here."

Natalia says,

"Then I also want to eat breakfast in here with you!"

Natalia sulked and rolled to the other side of the bed. She grabbed the blanket and covered herself with it. She looked at me with her sad face. I smiled and told the maid to bring Natalia's breakfast here as well.

After we ate our breakfast together, I listened to her plan for today. Then she got too comfortable in my bed and fell asleep again. I let her sleep and told the maid to notify her teachers to skip today's studies. The reason is that she would throw a tantrum if she can't stay with me.

I grabbed the letter and looked at it for quite a while. Then raised my hand and clenched it.

"I became Alkaid the villain, and Reine debutante is soon. That means she's still 15 and 10 years from now will be the day I will die. I guess I will live my life as I like and prevent from my death flag."
