The instructor came closer to me I got a better look at what he was holding, it was a belt. "Do you have a good reason why I shouldn't use this on you?" I kept my eyes down. "Look at me!" he said aggressively before a hand hit me hard across the face. I looked up obeying him. My eyes began to grow with tears. He gave me a soft look. "Do you have a good reason?" he asked me again. I breathed heavily. "I mean this with respect sir, but wouldn't I be a waste of bandages?" He paused looking at me in disbelief. "I have never, out of 26 years of working here have have one like you." he laughed. "What do you mean sir?" "Well, everytime I go out or watch you through the window you are always working hard nonstop, you were even trying to protect another kid. Your even worried about using bandages. What is your name." "Izayia." "Alright Izayia, I will let you off with a major warning, but if you ever have to step foot in this office again, you will get the belt. Understand?" "Y-yes sir." "Now go." I bowed to him before leaving. Once I was back into the factory everyone stopped to look at me but quickly went back to working. I walked back over to my station. There was another kid standing there. "I can take it from here." I told him. He turned, "Izayia, I got it." It was Darbuse. Darbuse was a childhood friend who was younger than me. People called him Darb. After 16 more trees came in it was time to shut the machines down. Soon the room was silent and everyone left their stands. The girl from the top came down. "I am so sorry for what happened today. Did he hurt you?" "No I am okay, infact he let me off with a warning." "Good." "Uhmm what is your name?" I asked her. "Reyleen. Darbuse and I live in the same alley." "Oh, I remember Darbuse telling me about you." "Yeah." "I am sorry Izayia, I keep asking my mom , she doesn't want me to come to your alley." Darbuse said. "Thats ok, I will ask my mom sometime." "Ok." he smiled. "Hey guys!" Astrid said hobbling over to us. "Hey!" I said waving. It felt like we were a little friend group. "We should probably walk back and rest for a bit." I suggested. "Yeah." Astrid agreed. We all walked at the same speed, all except for Zennith who lagged behind. Once we passed the check-in stand realization hit me, 'Talla' "Hey Izayia!" she called from her shack. "I have to go, I will see you later!" "Bye." Darbuse and Reyleen called at the same time. "When will you be back?" Astrid asked. "I should be back in a few minutes, tell my mom please!" "I will." I turned and headed for the shack. "Hey, how was work?" Talla asked me. "It was good." "Listen I am going to make this really short and sweet cause I have to get home soon. But have this." She handed me a basket covered with a blanket. "No peaking till you get back to your folks." "I won't." "Your last name, my great grandmother's father was friends with Zephrith and Serin Daynaira. You probably don't know them, but there is a star named after Zephrith. It is said that she and her sister were part of the royal family of Shadow long ago. "Uhmm." "Yeah I know confusing right." she laughed. "Here." she grabbed a peice of paper and started drawing. "This is what the star looks like and it is located over there." she pointed to a spot in the sky. "W-when I pray to them I feel connected with my great great grandfather." she said her voice cracking as she spoke. "Are you ok?" "Yes." she said wiping tears. "All I am saying Izayia is, I believe you have the power to change this world for the good." smiling she handed me a choker necklace that had a purple stone on the front of it. "Thank you." I said slipping the choker into the basket. "Well I have to get going and I am sure you need to as well." "Yes." "See you later Izayia." she said stepping around the back of the shack. "Thank you Talla." I said bowing to her. "Dear, there is no need to bow." I looked up at her surprised, that was the first time anything has ever said that to me. "Bye." we said in unison as we parted ways. I hurried back to the alley to get my supper, I was hungry. When I arrived my mom greeted me with a hug. "What is this?" she asked surprised. "Talla gave it to me." "Who is Talla?" "She works at the check in house." "Oh she must be new." she said as she began digging through the basket. "Where is Zennith?" "He was just here a couple minutes ago." I looked around and decided to see if Astrid knew where he went. I ran down the ally way and found Astrid who had a blanket pulled around her shoulders. "Astrid where is Zennith?" "What I thought he was with you?!" "No!" "Before we reached the alley he said he was going to wait for you." "If he did I didn't even see him." "Do you want me to help you look for him?" "No you don't have to, you should rest." "Well too bad because I am going to help anyways." she said standing up without falter. We walked down the alley making sure to look behind every corner and dumpster. As I walked I could feel the feeling of rain falling on my head. I looked at Astrid. "It's raining." she said with big eyes. We walked faster and searched harder. We moved outside of the alley still no sign of Zennith. "Zennith!" I called for him. "Shhhhh! Don't be too loud they might hear you! They will be mad." Astrid suggested. "Right." "Don't worry we will find him." she reassured me. "I hope so." We headed back to the alley to get out of the rain and eat our 'meal'...
