I was standing in the alley way. Darkness began to close in around me. I begin to feel uneasy. As the darkness comes closer and closer to me, my head begins to hurt. I feel as if something or someone is touching my back. Whispers of unknown voice speak but don't quite reach me. A ripping sensation sizzles down my back where the hands were. Pain filled my body. I let out a scream. The scratching and ripping continued when all of the sudden a bell sounds. It sounds so familiar. Then I realize, it's the sound of the first morning bell!

I jolted awake. I'm late!! I looked around, gathered all of the blankets I could and put them in the bin. There were few people left in the alley. But where was mother!? I looked around a couple times and decided I better go. 'She might be back when the day is done' I thought to myself and hurried to the check in shack.

When I arrived at the shack no one was inside. People still made their way inside the factory. I decided to go in despite not knowing my tasks. Running as fast as I could, I rounded the corner to a random hallway and ran into someone. The impact caused me to fall to the floor. I happened to see their feet they had shoes on. Which meant they were either a worker or instructor. I looked up slowly to who it was. 'Talla!' I said to myself. But why was she here?

"There you are! I figured you forgot to come to work today." she said with her hand held out to help me up.

I took her hand and she helped me up.

"No, I accidentally slept in late."

"Ahh thats understandable." she spoke politely as her eyes studied my face.

"Oh! You must be looking for this." she said suddenly and pulled out my task card from her ragged pocket.

"Yes! Thank you very much!" I said taking the card and bowing.

"You are welcome. You should get to your task before your late."

"Your right," I said taking a step, "Thanks again!"

"Yep!" she called back.

I turned and began running. I looked at the task card, Izayia D: Dishes and Organising. They weren't the worst tasks in the world but they were not my favorite. I hurried to dishes and snuck in before the instructor could realize I wasn't there. I ran to the nearest station and started my task. There were two girls next to me. I happened to look at them and realize one of them was Reyleen!

I washed a bunch of cups and put them in the rinse water so the person with drying cart could come and collect them. When the person came over to collect the rinsed dishes I moved out of the way to make it easier for them to collect them. I looked at them. 'Astrid!' I thought. She looked at me.

"Why didn't you wake up this morning?" she whispered to me.

"I don't know. Mother wasn't there and nobody else tried to wake me."

"Izayia, you seriously don't remember me shaking around you this morning?"

I looked at her confused.

"No? I didn't even know you were there."

"Jeez you must've been sleeping good then." she finished as she put the last dish in the cart and hurried off.

I grabbed a cup and started washing it. 'What's wrong with me? Why can't I remember?' I asked myself. 'Wait, I don't remember last night.' Everything was a blur. The remainder of the work went by fast and still not a trace of last night came back to me. As I walked back to our alley the feeling of chilled air crawled up my back. I shivered and walked slightly faster. As I rounded the corner I found my mom digging through the blanket bin.
"Mom!" I said running up to her. She turned to face me and took me into a hug.
"What's wrong?" she asked me.
"Where were you this morning?"
"What do you mean?" she asked with her eyebrows slanting downward.
"You weren't here!"
"Izayia? You don't remember me telling you that I had an appointment with Mr. Collin's doctor?"
"No, I don't." I responded.
"I told you shortly after you woke up because I didn't come back till late last night."
What was wrong with me? Why didn't I remember? I began to feel scared. What if this kept happening and I end up forgetting everyone and everything. No! I took a deep breath. 'let's not think like that' I told myself. I looked up at my mom who was now laying out blankets for night.
"How did the appointment go?" I asked her.
"It went the same as usual. Walked in sat down, he walked in took about two looks at me and said I was fine." she responded.
That's how it usually went. We had doctors and nurses, but for what use. They never truly helped us. As long as we had a good work record and looked physically fine to work we were forced to.
"How was your day?" she asked me.
"It was fine, same as usual."
"Yeah after a while it gets to the point where everyday just seems like the last. Sometimes to the point where you can't tell night from day," she said as she sat down. "But sometimes its all you know and-" she stopped herself. "Look at me, talking all serious again." she laughed and looked down.
I studied her face, she seemed to be slightly less exhausted from yesterday. Suddenly piercing through the silence we heard the sound of the dinner cart clamoring outside the alley. It was time to eat.
After supper I sat down by the wall and relaxed. 'Today was rough.' I thought to myself. It was, I had no idea what was happening to me, where the mysterious kid Zennith went, what all of the dreams I have been having meant. It was all a blur to me.
