A game that took the world by storm Jaxton Veron was a normal college kid with gaming as a hobby. He saved up money from work to be able to buy the game. He was addicted to gaming and his favorite hobby was PKing. He found it fun to hide and sneak attack others, steal kills, and spawn camp. Even when he died and was on the receiving end, he still had fun. He thought of it as a challenge to grind his way up to the top of leaderboards by stepping over others. He was quite the asshole. Irl he was pretty normal, with his group of friends he played with sometimes, and his family who he loved and cherished. However after an accident involving his father, they are now in financial trouble. With no way to pay off the debts in time, he turns to the one thing he is good at. Party time

Jax slowly made his way through the trees for cover, as he made it to the tree behind the marksman. Silent as a mouse he tried to get as close as possible. He also needed a place to run to when he fired, as he had a cooldown and the arrogant warrior was near. Although he seemed stupid, he was still stronger than Jax right now. Melee definitely had an advantage early in the game since they didn't need a huge cool down for attacks. 30 seconds seemed ridiculous for the amount of damage he could do, so maybe that headshot tactic was meant to balance it out?

He couldn't know, and it only wasted time and energy worrying about it. He slowly made his way closer, and he didn't know if it was because he was actually super quiet, or if the other marksman was just watching the battle too intently, but he ended up right behind him without him moving.

'Although he has good stuff, he doesn't seem that bright when it comes to player vs player.' Jax couldn't be bothered, a person like this would be eaten alive if he were at the top of the leaderboards.

*Bam* With a shot straight to the back of the head, the marksman's body turned into particles. Jax swiftly picked up the item and ran back to other trees away from the warrior. He was able to catch a glimpse of the warrior, who was looking around cautiously. But he wasn't even looking up.

Jax rolled his eyes and stopped on the tree just before where the marksman was.

[Common Flintlock pistol

Attack dmg - 20

reload time - 20 seconds]

It was much better than his old one, so he quickly swapped them, then looked at the notifications.

[You have slain XxPussySlayer69xX! You received 150 exp!]

Jax had to stop for a second at that name. 'Really? This kid was the guy who got this name? I thought it would be someone who was actually good.'

Moving on, Jax now had 270/500 exp, if his guess was right, killing the level 2 warrior would give him 100 exp. 50 per level seemed reasonable, and it also prevented PKers from leveling up only by killing others.

"This game seems to hate my playstyle," Jax thought aloud. He slowly made his way back to the tree the Marksman was on earlier with the pistol's cooldown being finished. The warrior was still in the same area, but occasionally looked around.

'He's not looking above, that's where I need to be.' The guy was an amateur, just like others he's encountered, thinking about it, it made sense to Jax. All the players with experience in these types of games were close to hitting level 10. All the newbie players were still below 5.

Jax looked around and saw there was no tree right above him, he was in the open after all. The makeshift party wasn't doing too hot actually. They had been at first, but the healer's healing couldn't keep up with the wolf's damage. However the wolf also looked close to its last leg, it was a race against time now. With no good place to find to get into range of the warrior, Jax took a leap of faith. Literally.

He jumped off a sturdy branch towards the warrior who was still looking around the wrong places. He extended his knee in front of him as he came into the warrior's view. Either the warrior didn't know how to fight against players as well, or he was just really surprised at Jax coming at him like that, but he ended up falling backward on his butt, while Jax jabbed him in the chest with his knee.

He intended to go for the head, but since the guy fell early, he missed, but now his head was right in range. With the barrel right between his eyes, another *pew* sent the warrior to the graveyard as well.

[Headshot!]

[You have slain Su Yang! You received 100 exp!]

[ You obtained {Leather armor}! ]

'Looks like I was right about the exp thing. Also, it seems like armor is pretty universal right now. I can equip this.' Jax thought as he looked at his new item. The item provided an extra 5 defense, really bad, but it's better than nothing.

'Now that I think about it, stats seem to affect the whole body, only if it is a personal stat, not an item of some sort.' Jax was thinking deeply as he realized his plan was flawed from the beginning. He forgot about adding defense and health from armor. If the marksman's armor affected his whole body, he would've survived, since it was just a normal headshot.

The same went for the warrior who hadn't taken any damage from his knee but still took the full brunt of his headshot. It was something to keep in mind as he moved forward. After putting on the new armor, he looked to the party, who now lost the warrior, while the wolf was almost dead, they had no one to tank. The rogue was trying to dodge attacks and was successful, but not enough to be effective in the long run.

The priest looked over at Jax before looking back at the wolf, "Hey Marksman! Are you willing to help us? I saw that warrior earlier looking ready to kill steal so I didn't bother asking him, but I'm willing to share the rewards! You up for it?"

Jax didn't get a chance to answer before he got a party invitation.

[ Father Francis has invited you to a party! accept or decline?]

With two button options on his system, he thought about it a bit. It would be good to get exp, and the rest of the party seemed to agree. They weren't like the warrior and seemed to just want out of the situation rather than get any goodies.

"I'll accept if I can get the drops, you can have the money though," Jax added his own terms. Even if he joined the party he wouldn't get much exp at this point, he'd be lucky to make it to level 2 with the exp he's been getting.

The priest gritted his teeth and waited a bit, before responding, "Fine that works with us, I hope you can deal some high damage. I've heard that you Marksmen get a powerful shot but your reload time is awful so hopefully, you can get in 2 or 3 good shots before it goes down."

'Sounds like marksmen do have it rough.' He figured that would happen since they seem to have the biggest reload. mages and priests would be next while the melee fighters don't have much at all.

Jax ran up to the party, while seeing that he was given leader status in the party. It seemed he could change settings from "leader pick" to "free-for-all." He left it at leader pick since only he would get to pick up the items that way and distribute things.

By the time he was next to everyone, a mage had to tank a hit since the rogue couldn't handle anymore. The warrior could take about 2 hits, but the others could only take one since they didn't put any stats into health.

"How much health does it have left?" Jax asked the priest.

"Can't you tell? Just use analysis." He seemed fed up with that question but the next words from Jax made him feel worse.

"I don't have it, I'm only level 1 and didn't bother with that quest yet."

"What!? Then how did you take out the warrior??" The priest was surprised but deeply regretting putting his trust in a level 1.

"Don't worry about that for now! Just tell me!"

The priest sighed, "It's at 80 right now."

Jax immediately went towards the front, leaving the priest baffled. 'He must be stupid. Why did I give him the leader position.' The priest thought. Jax got up towards the rogue who was trying to dodge around as best he could.

"Keep it on you as best you can!" The rogue looked exhausted and gave Jax a look saying 'Are you stupid?' as that was exactly what he was doing. Jax went up to the side of the wolf's face at full speed. He had no idea how exactly critical hits worked, but he thought that headshots would have a higher chance of proccing it.

All he could hope for was getting it to procc.

'Come on virtual god, I'll get my sister a helmet too if you procc.' He was speaking nonsense at this point. He was ready to dodge a paw or bite right after the shot as the rogue was already backing away after getting hit.

With the barrel right in front of the wolf's eye, if drew its attention, but Jax had already pulled the trigger.

*pew!*

I will be updating Jax's stats every chapter as long as their is something changed to it. Too much work to constantly put it in when yall probably don't pay much attention to it anyways. I know I don't.
