Blacksmith

A few hours later, Jax finished the analyze quest. It took a long time, consisting of gathering different herbs for a mage in town and having to search for some rarer items as well that were hidden. It was tedious, but easy at the same time. There were lots of hints given about the area the items would be in, and he was able to finish a couple other repeatable herb quests, gaining another 2000 exp.

He also got money from it and took a trip to the bank where he exchanged his copper for silvers. For some reason the devs wanted players to exchange their money for higher forms. It felt like a big hassle, but he could do nothing about it.

The analyze skill was pretty simple, it worked automatically when you focused on something. He didn't have to worry about it which was nice. His next stop was the blacksmith. Jax didn't know if he would buy anything but wanted to see what they had, and how much it cost.

He reached a building made mostly of stone with a hammer for a sign. Entering inside, he saw other players looking around, and did so as well. Most of the stuff on walls or on shelves were all common-type items, stuff he looted off people. He didn't need any of it but found out that each weapon was 400 copper, and each armor was 300 copper. It was pretty expensive, so it meant that people had to grind a lot.

'It seems most people aren't willing to finish those super long quests all the time.' Most of the quests given were long and tedious, but they gave good exp and at least 100 copper. That was also for the repeatable quests.

He went up to the counter, where a short stout man was resting his head on his chin. He completely ignored Jax, even when he was right in front of him. Jax eventually spoke up first, "Do you have anything higher than common grade here?"

The man didn't even look at him, only grumbled, "We do, but it'll cost ya a pretty penny. Ya don't have enough so buzz off. Hmph!" He waved at Jax like a fly, not even caring about losing a customer.

Jax was mad, but he didn't show it, he was probably just one of those npcs who either hated all players, or you had to somehow get on his good side. Jax continued asking questions, as maybe it would lead him to a hidden quest or something.

"How much do they normally cost? I assume uncommon grade is what you have?" Jax asked hoping to get something more than a grumble. The little man opened one eye to look at Jax. For this man, all he ever met was haughty teenagers, calling him an npc and cursing him out for not letting them see all the items in shop.

He was fed up with it and hoped they would all just disappear, yet this man didn't act like that. Heck, he didn't even look mad that he was treated that way. He closed his eye again and answered, "Yeah, they're uncommon they cost upwards of 10 silver though. Can ya afford it? Hmph!"

Jax smiled, it seemed he was making a breakthrough with this tsundere. He slapped 5 silver on the table, "Would this get me anything?"

The man glanced over and gave a light chuckle. "Ya may git somethin' basic, but nothin' fancy." The man stood up from his chair and gave a small wave of his hand as he started walking to the back of the shop. Jax took it as a sign to follow and did, meanwhile the store was in an uproar, as someone finally managed to see the other items.

Many didn't bother with the old man anymore and just assumed he didn't like anyone, but it turns out they had to ignore his insults? They weren't sure, but many started telling their friends about it, to see if they could figure it out as well.

As they walked to the back of the shop, Jax realized he never tried out the analyze skill, so he focused on the old man in front of him, and his info popped up.

[Timold Stonehammer]

[Level - ???]

[Race - Dwarf]

{Class - ???]

[Relationship - meh]

'He must be a much higher level than me if I can't see anything, not even his class. Dwarf race seems to fit his height and profession, but what's this relationship meter?' He didn't know exactly what it did but figured the better it was, the more things he could get out of Timold.

They reached another smaller room where things were haphazardly thrown around and most of the items were covered in dust.

"I don't let just anyone handle these things. They're powerful, and can be dangerous in the wrong hands. I mostly made 'em when I was bored or feelin' rusty so find somethin' ya like and let me know." Timold said as he walked back to the front of the shop.

Jax looked around the room at the many different items. Although they didn't look pretty, they definitely felt more powerful than his current equipment. He saw knives swords and shields just like in the front, but he also saw giant hammers, tools, chakrams, halberds, pole staffs, and much more.

'It seems like uncommon is more for people after level 10? I'm not completely sure, but these look more specialized than in the front of the store.' Jax thought as he gently felt the weapons while analyzing them.

Their stats were way better than his current stuff. Over double, and some even had extra effects like percentages or status conditions. He was unsure if the top players right now had anything like this, but it wouldn't surprise him if they did. They probably have a ton of lackeys helping them out to power level and find good equipment.

Thinking of the top levelers, he checked the leaderboards, and sure enough, they had reached level 10. There were now 3 people at ten, with a few at 9 and 8 and so on. They were the same names, but some switched places. He didn't care too much as they were fighting themselves and he wouldn't bother them until he needed to step over them himself.

As he looked, he eventually found some guns. They were also flintlock pistols, silver just like the common grade, but had a green outline with an intricate design engraved onto it. He analyzed them.

[Uncommon Flintlock Pistol]

[Attack dmg - 50]

[reload time - 15 seconds]

[extra effect - +20% crit rate for {Uncommon Flintlock Pistol}]

They were amazing! The crit rate was something he really looked forward to as most people probably didn't know about it with its low proc rate. However before he could choose to buy this pistol, he found another uncommon pistol with a different effect.

[extra effect: Cooldown Reduction - reduce the cooldown of reloading {Uncommon Flintlock Pistol} by 5 seconds for a successful hit]

This was the effect that would solve the marksman's weakness. This was something he really needed if he wanted to fight solo. Both were good effects, but he couldn't equip both could he?

Jax paused for a second, 'I've never tried equipping two before, have I?' With that, he pulled out the old flintlock and tried to hold both of them. But one of them fell out of his hand as soon as he did that.

[Warning: You cannot equip multiple weapons until you get stronger. Level 5 is required to unlock the second weapon slot.]
