Chapter 4: Does Your Family Have a Throne to Inherit? _1

Suzanne Trent had just returned home. She heard Abigail Trent's words through the door and pushed it open to enter.

"Abigail, only during your crying fits do you show any talent for tearing this family apart. You really think you're capable of anything..."

Before she finished speaking, Suzanne lifted her eyes, and her footsteps suddenly stopped.

The man was propping himself up with one hand on the bedside, half-sitting up, his hair disheveled from lying unconscious for three days.

Having seen him in a coma for the past few days, she knew he was good-looking. However, she didn't expect that he would be this... stunning after waking up.

Suzanne had seen many good-looking men, but for a moment, she still hesitated, then locked eyes with him. A few seconds later, she regained her composure and approached the bedside.

"So you're awake, well done for not being dead. Tell me your family's contact information, and I'll have them come to pick you up. Your shirt and suit don't even have a phone or wallet, so I had no choice but to bring you home. Now that you're awake, vacate my bed as soon as possible."

Suzanne rubbed her shoulder: "I had to sleep on the sofa for three days because of you."

She continued to look at the man on the bed: " Do you have any contact information for your family?"

The man glanced at her and uttered two simple words: "No."

Without any explanation, his voice was detached and hoarse due to his severe injuries.

"No? How can that be? You must have some contact information for your parents or relatives, like their phone numbers or your home address."

Mason King remained silent for a few seconds before saying three sharp words: "Can't remember."

He couldn't go back now, the timing wasn't right.

Suzanne's heart skipped a beat as she thought about the cliff where she found him and the shards of rock scattered in the grass. His head seemed to be injured at that time, and his body was badly wounded as well. Surely it wasn't as clichéd as... memory loss?

Even modern-day screenwriters wouldn't dare use such a cheesy amnesia plot device.

Without another thought, Suzanne picked up her phone. "If you really can't remember, I'll have no choice but to take you to the police. I could save you once, but I can't just leave you here with no relatives or acquaintances."

At this moment, Mason noticed that the medicine in the IV bag had run out, so he pulled the needle out with one hand.

Suzanne saw the few drops of blood that emerged on the back of his hand, and instinctively rushed to apply a disinfectant cotton swab. "Did you really hit your head? How could you pull the needle out yourself when you're this injured?"

Mason was suddenly pressed by her and a subtle fragrance filled his nostrils. He looked at the woman who had come closer: "With injuries like these, can I really stand up to police questioning?"

Suzanne's dark eyes flickered, and she released her hand, backing away slightly. "How can you be this composed when you can't remember anything? Are you really not pretending to have memory loss and just trying to take advantage of Lily and me?"

Mason applied the disinfectant cotton to his own hand, and responded lightly: "Even though I can't remember anything about myself, I still have my memories before the accident. I was hit by a car and pushed off a cliff, tumbling down with the vehicle. That proves that I was merely in an accident, and I'm probably not a bad person. You've already kept me for three days, keeping me for a few more shouldn't be a big issue."

"How can there be no issue? I've been sleeping on the sofa for three days already..."

"I can sleep on the sofa."

"That's not the point! You're a stranger, and we don't know your background!"

"I'm not a bad person."

"That's still not acceptable!"

"Of course it is."

"..."

How can someone who's lost their memory be so calm and composed?

He was too calm and composed, something was definitely off.

Despite lying injured on the bed, he seemed to be high and mighty as if ordering her around...

Did his memory get confused and make him think he was going to inherit a throne at home?
