Chapter Twenty-nine

Aunty Mary entered the main building and the biggest shock, all the maids and guards lay down sleeping. 

"What happened here?" She asked the rest of the maids and guards that followed her. No one could recall what happened, not to talk of how it happened. So everyone kept mute and only stared at Aunty Mary, riling her up at the spot.

" What are you all doing? Will you wake them up now!" She yelled. They began waking their colleagues. Some headed for the Security Lodge to wake up those there. Each person was shocked to see himself asleep. All of them knelt down when they woke up when they saw their Mistress (Aunty Mary) turn red in anger. Those at the Security Lodge joined in the sitting room. 

"Can someone explain what exactly happened while I was away?" That really got them thinking but no one could give an explanation to what happened. Aunty Mary dismissed them with lot of scoldings and left for her room.

Aunty Mary sat down in her room in deep thoughts. She tried to get a hint of what happened in her house. The whole scenario was so confusing and scary at that point. Worse still, no one could recall what happened. Aunty Mary knew that something was fishy. Someone was after her. But how could this person successfully carry out his or her plan. Then something hit her brain, 'The Surveillance Camera.' 

"How could I have forgotten?" She went and searched through the past events of the day but couldn't trace any signs of people going into her house. That was more suspicious than ever. Fear gripped the whole of her thinking of who might be after her. It's obvious that the person wants to create fear in her first. So, he started from within, 'Her house'. 

"The doer is not a person to be played with. He must have possessed some mighty powers." Aunty Mary mused.

SMITHS RESIDENCE.

Valerie sat on her bed thinking of what to do to get even with Lady Lily and Mira. Then an idea struck her head. Her lips curved into an evil grin thinking of the 'good idea' as she named it. Then she stood up and went to her wardrobe, unlocked it and began bringing out her clothes. And then she threw it all on the floor. At last she had on the floor, a heap of clothes. She quickly went to her fridge, got a bottle of wine and poured on it. Then she took her cellphone and called Eva. 

*Knock*Knock*

Eva knocked on Valerie's door and Valerie opened it immediately. She bowed and greeted Eva in respect.

"I have a lot of chores undone. Get me Lily and Mira, immediately." She ordered.

Eva left the room and as instructed, she sent Lady Lily and Mira to Valerie.

They knocked on the door before they heard a 'push in' order from Valerie. The sight inside the room was disgusting. Lady Lily and Mira furrowed their eyebrows scanning the entire room. Nothing was in its place. The chairs, books, pillows, bags, shoes, everything. Worse still, there were lots of papers on the floor with wine spilt on the floor. Their eyes cornered to a particular direction and in it, clothes were heaped up. The sight of the clothes was irritating and could make a person throw up.

Valerie allowed them to have a good look around her room. "And you can't greet?" Valerie asked, snapping them out of daze.

"Sorry Ma'am." They apologized.

"As you can see the room is not tidy. So I need you to clean and arrange everything. Poor you, you'll need to work very hard. I was only looking for my necklace and I started crying at some point." She said mimicking a person crying. "So" She continued, " That's why I gave all these on the floor. I'm not dirty, you know. You'll also wash those clothes over  there. So good luck." She finally said mockingly and left."

Valerie slammed the door behind her leaving Lady Lily and Mira helpless.

It took a while standing in shock before Mira spoke up. "Is this how we're going to start suffering in this house? Lady Lily,I want to report this to Ma'am Sofia. I can't allow that arrogant lady to treat me this way." Mira complained.

"No, you can't do that. Have you forgotten that Ma'am Sofia is not regarded in this house? Her words means nothing to the occupants of this house. No doubts, she'll want to fight for us if she finds out. But, that would only put her in trouble.We don't have any choice at this point, so let's get into this." Lady Lily told Mira.

So they started cleaning the room. It was a very tedious work to do. It took them an hour to clean and arrange the room and extra two hours to wash the clothes. And by the time they've finished, the were already drenched in sweats. Mira stopped at some point because she was exhausted but Lady Lily continued washing till the end.

They were so tired and they went back to their room to rest.

The clothes became dry under the sun. Lady Lily and Mira had woken up by then. So they went and brought it inside to iron them. The ironing process took a short period of time. They arranged the clothes in a box and Lady Lily instructed Mira to take it back to the owner.

Mira felt so irritated. She walked angrily towards Valerie's room, and stopped at her door. She knocked on the door. Mira became totally pissed off after a while, knocking. "What is wrong with this Lady?" Mira screamed within her.

She hit the door again this time so heavily that Valerie opened the door immediately.

"Do you want to break my door?" Valerie questioned angrily on opening the door.

"I'm sorry Ma'am." She apologized. Mira then handed the clothes over to Valerie and left.

Eva saw Lady Lily and Mira washing clothes. She didn't want to distract them, so she decided to see them later on. Luckily, she saw Mira going back to her room, so she rushed to her and took her to a corner. Mira narrated all that happened to Eva. She started crying when she began sharing the expriences she had while washing Valerie's clothes. Eva consoled her before she returned back to her room.

9 pm

Eddie went to chill out with some friends at a popular club. She wore a tight fitted gown that exposed her cleavages. Her beautiful legs were also exposed under the skimpy dress. On her Way to the club, she picked up her phone and dialed her friend's line. She held her phone with one hand and on the other hand, the steering wheel.

"Hello, Baby Girl."  A voice from the other end of the line spoke. 

"Hello Annie." Eddie replied. She could hear the buzzing noise from the club. "It seems you've arrived. I can hear the music sounds from here. I'm on my way coming." She told her friend before ending the call. 

She drove down to the club and parked at their parking lot. Bodly written on the top of the building is 'ALL CONNECTIONS CLUB'  Loud music was played, the lights were dim, giving off an erotic atmosphere.

Eddie walked into the club. Inside the club stood ladies and guys dancing erotically, some sat down at different corners, drinking and getting tipsy. Eddie looked around to see if she could find her friend. 

“Hello, Sweet lady.” A man greeted. He licked his lips seductively, looking at Eddie’s appearance. 

Eddie ignored him and kept on looking around when she heard a voice call her from behind. She turned to see her friend and followed her, leaving the man drooling over her.

Annie took her to a corner where they sat. She saw two other friends of Annie and they exchanged pleasantries. Annie called a waitress who served Eddie her choice of drink. They girls began drinking and chatting.

“Hello.” Four men came to their corner. They girls looked at the guys questionably. The guys understood and one of them said,” Can we dance with you pretty girls?” 

Ella, one of Annie’s friends and the craziest of them all was quick to say, ‘Yes’ to them. So the others decided to do same. Each girl stood up and with one guy they walked to the centre of the club. 

The music was changed to a more erotic one, leaving a lot of people going wild. 

Eddie danced with a man, fair in complexion, handsome at most. “ You look so sweet.” The Man complimented and Eddie blushed. ‘Thank you.’ 

So they continued to dance moving according to the rhythm of the music. As they swirl round and round the club, Eddie’s eyes flew involuntarily to a dark corner. There a man stood looking at her direction. She couldn’t see the man’s face but she could see his eyes gazed intently at her, making her uncomfortable.

“Are you ok?” The man she danced with asked her.

“Ye….a ….yes .” Eddie stuttered. She looked at the same direction and saw the man again. It was at that point that her mind flew to the manly silhouette  she saw at her office. Fear gripped her at the instance, she excused herself and went back to her seat. She tried to steady her heartbeat and then she looked at that direction and saw no one.

Eddie looked around to see if she could find Annie or any of her friends but she didn't. So, she stood up, took her purse and left the club.
