Chapter Thirty

Eddie left the club that night and drove back home. The thoughts of her recent experiences kept haunting and sending chills down her spine. Everything she came across became human to her. Her heart skipped at any slightest movements of objects. Her bags, chairs, curtains and others.

She quickly ran into her room, she checked the room thoroughly to be sure she was the only person there. And then, locked the door securely.

She coiled herself under the blanket and tried to force herself to sleep.

ALL CONNECTION CLUB.

The club continued to buzz with music and everywhere was getting hotter and hotter by the minute. Annie and her friends weren't aware that Eddie had left the club.

Annie came back to her seat after been exhausted by the dance. She waited for a while and her two other friends joined her. They searched around for Eddie after waiting for her for a long time. Annie dialed Eddie’s line but she didn’t answer. They girls panicked and had to talk to the manager of the Club and thorough search was conducted yet, Eddie wasn’t found. It was later on, that Ella dismissed their worry talking of the possibility of Eddie leaving the hall.

Annie was told to be calm. “If she doesn’t call back tomorrow, then we’ll invite the police in this Matter." The manager told her. So they went back home.

The sky was bright and the day looked pleasant. A lot of people loved this weather. Though it wasn’t a pleasant day for some people.

The morning rays seeped into the room through the transparent curtains. Eddie woke up that morning with puffed eyes. She cried out of fear before she slept. She also felt weak and found it difficult to get up from bed. The events of the other day replayed in her head and again fear gripped her.

As she managed to sit up, her phone rang. Luckily for her, she dropped the phone carelessly on one part of the bed, so it was easy for her to get it.

She looked at the caller’s name flashing on her screen. It was Annie calling her.

“Hello Annie. “ She said in a squeaky voice.

“Oh My Goodness Dear, if you wanted to kill me, you would have gotten a knife or pistol and not to do this to me. “ Annie cried out in frustration.

“I’m so sorry Dear. I felt unwell, so I left. “ Eddie explained.

“And not even a text when you got home? Anyways, how do you feel now? “ Annie asked with concern.

“I’ve seen better days. Can you please come over to my house? I’ll explain later on.” Eddie pleaded.

“Ok then.” Annie agreed and Eddie thanked her. After that, Eddie called Albert and informed him that she’s unwell. Albert expressed his concern and even sent a doctor to her.

Annie arrived before the doctor came. Eddie crawled close to the door after calling Annie several times to be sure of where she was. So she opened the door when Annie knocked.

“Hello Sweetie.” Annie greeted excitedly but furrowed her eyebrows when she saw no one. She came inside and took a look around before she caught someone on the floor, behind the door.

"Oh my ...." Annie trailed off. She locked the door behind her, went closer to her friend and embraced her. She then, helped  Eddie up and they slowly went back to her room.

As soon as Eddie lay down on the bed, she told Annie that a doctor will come to visit her and she (Eddie) slept off.

SMITHS RESIDENCE.

Sofia walked up and down her room in thoughts. She noticed these days that Lady Lily and Mira weren't always calling her out as usual and wondered what might be their problem. So, she left the room in search of them. She met Eva on her way and asked her about Lady Lily and Mira. Eva told her to check in their room, so Sofia headed for their room. The room was locked when she arrived, so she left for her own room.

"Ma'am." A voice called from behind. Sofia looked back and saw Lady Lily and Mira. She happily went to meet them. 

"Good morning Ma'am." They greeted in unison.

"Morning." Sofia responded with a dim face. "Haven't spoken as usual within this few days. Moreover, where are you coming from?"

Lady Lily and Mira exchanged eye contacts before Lady Lily responded," We're really sorry Ma'am. It's just that this few days have been stressful. And we're coming from the washing area. We went to wash our clothes."

Sofia knew they lied to her because she searched for them at the washing area. But she didn't to argue further, so she just let it slide.

EDDIE'S RESIDENCE.

The doctor came just as Albert promised. It was Annie who showed him to Eddie's room. Before that, she prepared white rice with sauce for Eddie which she ate in fulfillment.

The doctor ran a medical check-up on her. She had high fever and severe headache. So he Injected her to lessen her fever, took her blood samples, gave few medical instructions and left.

SMITHS CORPORATION

Sarah sat down in her office, thinking of what Valerie told her early in the morning before they left for work.

Flash back ~

Valerie called Sarah after eating breakfast.

"Eva won't be available today, so you'll stand in for her today." Valerie instructed.

" Ok Ma." 

Back to the present ~

Sarah left the office for the CEO's office. She knocked at the door on reaching the office. Albert instructed her to come in which she did.

Albert was busy with with his laptop when Sarah came in. He looked at her questionably before she spoke up. " Sir I just wanted to know if there's anything I can do."

" Sure, that's good of you. Hand back these files to the various departments but first arrange these books in the drawer." Albert instructed.

EDDIE'S RESIDENCE.

Eddie slept for a long time after the doctor left. All this while, Annie kept her company. She stayed close to her bed, watching movies while Eddie slept. By the time Eddie woke up, she was very hungry and weak, but she didn't want to eat rice with sauce. She requested for snacks and Annie got it for her.

"Here is some biscuits. This is sliced cakes and then have your chilled Vanilla yoghurts." Annie said handing in the snacks to Eddie. " I want to get some fish rolls across the road. So you'll eat while I do that." Annie told Eddie and left.

Annie rushed out to get the fish rolls. Eddie sat in her room and began eating her lunch. While she ate, her phone rang. She got up and took it from the drawer in her room and went back to her bed. She looked at the unknown number that flashed on her screen and wondered who it might be. For the second time, her phone rang and this time, she picked the call.

"Hello." A voice said from the other ended of the line.

"Hello, who is this?" Eddie asked. But before she could say anything else, the caller spoke again, " Is this Eddie Jackson, residing at AB Plot?"

The voice sounded more like a threat. Cold chills ran down Eddie's spine. "Who is this?" Eddie's voice squeaked.

"Your new Master. I want you to meet me at Ectactcy by 7pm. You must not tell anyone, where you're going to." The voice said again.

A feeling of fear surged inside Eddie. "I'm sick and I don't think I can meet up with you today." Eddie complained.

" I don't care. And don't think of running away because I know your every movement. Moreover, the life of your parents at Greenish City is in my hands, so be wise." And the line went dead.

Eddie went numb, she only came to a conscious state after a while. By then she was weak and have lost her appetite. She recoiled back under her bedspread in deep thoughts.

Annie came back after buying the fish rolls. She opened the door and saw Eddie lying down, when she drew closer to her, she looked at the snacks which she served Eddie. It seems lik.e nothing was touched.

"Eddie... Eddie..." Annie called out but Eddie remained under the bedspread. Annie grabbed the bedspread and turned it to the other side of the bed. 

"Eddie.." Annie panicked when she looked at her friend who had turned red and was shaking. "Oh my Gosh! what happened to you just now. Let's go to the hospital."

" Don't freak out. I'm fine and ...." Eddie trailed off.

,Annie didn't know what to do again. She was greatly concerned about her friend's health condition. "What exactly happened? I mean you were ok just now and then you turned sick all of a sudden." Annie queried. "Moreover, you didn't eat the snacks again. Please get up and eat something."

" I lost my appetite." Eddie told her.

"What kind of a person are you? Don't you want to be healthy? If there's anything you are not telling me,  then what am I to you?" Annie yelled out before leaving the room in anger.

All that mattered to Eddie at that point was how she was going to meet with the 'so called Master." She laid awake glancing at the clock every now and then till evening. 

6:30pm.

Eddie quickly had a bath and changed into a turtle neck gown and a flat shoe. She took her purse, put her phone and some money in it and left her room. She was careful not to make a noise. She didn't want Annie to know that she was leaving the house because of the warnings the 'so called Master' gave to her.

She successfully went down the stairs, walked towards the main entrance and opened the door but before she left the building, a voice called from behind," Eddie.."
