A few minutes later dad stood up and made a few notes in her chart that he copied from the hospital. "Okay now, your pressure is still a little high and your ribs aren't fully healed yet, so don't take on too much too fast, get back to bed, you need more rest and don't take on those stairs just yet, stay put, got that?" "Yes sir." She said with a shy smile.
"Okay, I'll see you all later," Dad said and leaves the room. "Soo, you are obsessed with doctors huh?" I ask with a smile as I continue to play with Faith. "Mhm, ever since I was a child." She said with a shy smile. "Well, at least now I have someone to watch my medical programs with."
I would really enjoy that. So, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that your favorite color is white." She said looking around. "That obvious?" I asked scratching the back of my neck. "Kind of, and your favorite singer?" She asks pointing to the large poster on my wall. "Of all time, yes," I said proudly.
"Nice, so um, I'm going to go so you can get to work and save lives, I can't believe you're a doctor, this's so awesome." She giggles as she took up Faith's carrier. Funny how many times Kayla has been in this room and she never made the connection but this complete stranger enter it once and hit the nail right on the head, not once but twice. I thought to myself as I follow her back to her room. Once she was settled I left.
I was on my way to work when my phone rang. Checking it I saw that it was Kayla and just seeing her name brought back all the hurt and pain and sadness of the last few days. I have been avoiding her calls and texts since she fainted because I had someone keeping an eye on her but now I decided to answer her because I was planning on calling her anyway.
I pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and answer the phone. "What is it, Kayla?' I ask annoyed. 'Hi baby, are you okay?' She asks in a sing-song tone. "How can I be okay after what you did to me?' I snap. "I know I messed up baby but please I'm begging you to forgive me please, I can't survive without you, I made a horrible mistake please forgive me.' She pleads.
My heart would love nothing more than to forgive her but my mind couldn't overlook what she did. 'That's what you're calling what you did to me; a mistake?' I ask angrily. "A mistake is something you do once or twice Kayla, you have been cheating on me for over two years, do you have any idea how close I came to catching HIV or any of the other STDs there are out there from you?" I demand.
"You weren't in any danger of catching anything from me Ty because I only cheated on you with one man." She said defensively. I snort with disgust at her statement. "You are unbelievable you know that? Here you are on this phone begging me to forgive you and you're still lying to me." I sneer at her.
"I'm not, I swear…I…" "Just cut the crap, Kay." I snap angrily. "The man that was in the apartment when my brothers were moving my stuff wasn't the man I caught you with in our bed, so as I said before, cut the crap."
"Ty…I…." "Yeah I know, you need more time to come up with more lies, take your time," I said in a sarcastic tone. "Anyway two ladies are on their way to the apartment to clean up and cook you some food, you can't continue to stuff yourself with fast food, it's not good for the baby and if I know right, that apartment needs cleaning right about now," I said rubbing my temple before continuing.
"They're not obligated to be there, they're only helping me out so if you disrespect them in any way they'll leave, for good, and don't forget your appointment tomorrow." "And how exactly am I supposed to pay them, I don't have any money, Ty." "I've already taken care of that." I end the call, flung the phone on the passenger seat, wipe the tears of disappointment that were falling down my face, and drove off.
Kayla had just put her phone down on the kitchen counter when someone rang her doorbell. She went to open it and made an oh it's you face when she saw that it was Susan. "Funny seeing you here, have you spoken to Tyler yet?'Kayla asks walking away from her. "Well, hello to you too Kayla, and, no I haven't, I figured he needs more time."
"Whatever, what are you doing here anyway?" "I was worried about you and your baby so I brought you some food," Susan said entering the house. "Really?" Kayla drawled in disgust. "The last time we spoke you didn't seem that worried; all you did was shout at me and judge me."
Susan took a deep breath before answering because, despite the fact that she cared about Kayla and the child she was carrying, she still couldn't find one good reason as to why she remained friends with this selfish, self-centered girl.
"I was angry with you Kayla because you lied to me when you said that you weren't cheating on Tyler anymore, not only were you cheating on him in his own house but also in his bed, what did you think was going to happen when he found out?" Susan asks hands on her hips.
"I don't want to talk about it, what's done is done, all I care about now is getting my man back because I'm sick and tired of the chum changes his father keeps sending over here." She sneered taking up one of the bags and walking towards the kitchen.
"Like I can survive on that, what am I his charity case? How am I supposed to get my hair and nails done out of that?" She asks looking at her nails. "Your hair and nails aren't his concern Kayla, the only reason you're even getting any money at all is that they're still hoping that the baby you're carrying is their grandchild and they want to make sure that he or she is born healthy." "The baby, the baby, everything is about the damn baby, what about me?" She asks angrily as she got up and stormed from the kitchen.
Susan sighs heavily as she opened the fridge, it was partly empty and dirty. There were pieces of food on a plate, spilled juice in the corners, and rotten fruits in the bottom draw. Susan grabs a cloth and held her nose as she began cleaning up the mess.
She was packing the food she brought in the fridge when she heard a strange noise coming from the washroom so she went to investigate. The washer was shaking from side to side, she went over and opens it and the foul smell that caught her nose caused her to gag in disgust. She was examining the contents of the washer when Kayla walked in carrying a garbage bag.
"What are you doing?" She asks annoyed. "Your machine was making a funny noise so I was just checking to see why," Susan answered holding her nose. "I'm going to throw them away because they can't wear anymore. I put them to soak a few days ago and forgot about them. I'll just have to buy new ones." Kayla boasts as she took the clothes from the machine piece by piece and places them in the bag.
Susan shakes her head at the proud tone in Kayla's voice. How could she stand here sounding so proud when she doesn't even know how to wash? Kayla was now twenty-six and the girl still couldn't do anything to help herself. Susan watched as Kayla emptied the washer, the girl had mixed white and clear colored clothes with her blue, black, and red jeans, and now all the clear and white looks like tie and dye. The girl didn't even have enough common sense to sort the clothes according to colors, but still, she had no problem acting like a spoiled princess.
Susan was on her way out half an hour later when a man pulled the gate and walked in. "Who are you?" Susan asks as the man attempts to walk past her. "Who wants to know?" He asks. "I'm Kayla's friend and you are?" "I'm Kayla's man and that's all you need to know." He said before walking away from her.
"Unbelievable, she still has men coming into Ty's house and she wants me to beg him to take her back. Like hell I will, she's on her own." Susan grumbled as she stormed through the gate.
Kayla sighs heavily as she saw Steven coming towards her door, great, Ty said that two women were on their way here and now this, she would have to come up with a way to get him out of here before they arrive, Ty can't know about this. She thought as she open the door for him.
She had just got him back in his car when the two ladies came through the gate, she told them that she was going out and would be back in a few hours. She told him that she wasn't feeling well and needed to go to the doctor, which got him moving, which was good, all's well that ends well.
When she got back to the house at about six pm she told Steven to stay in the car while she let the ladies out. She was glad to see that they were finished and waiting for her so she told them thanks and they left.
She then called Steven in and smiled at how clean and fresh the place smelled. "Why did I have to wait in the car?" He asks annoyed. "If they see you they'll think that I'm rich and ask for more money, so the less they know about my life the better, so are you hungry? They cook dinner." She said heading to the kitchen. "Sure and then desert." He said slapping her butt.
I was in such a hurry to get home before Janice fell asleep that I almost ran Jessica and Jason over on my way out of the locker room. "Whoa hold on a second, where are you off to in such a hurry?" Jason asks. "I've to…get home I'll um… I'll see you guys tomorrow.' I was off again before they could say anything else. "Is it just me or has TJ been avoiding us lately?" Jason asks taking his bag from his locker.
"He has been scarce lately but maybe he's just trying to deal with Kayla's betrayal," Jessica answered. "Yeah and maybe we shouldn't have acted so damn happy when we found out that he wasn't with the witch anymore." Jason sighs heavily. "Because regardless of how we felt about her, he really did love her." "Yeah, and even after everything she did to him, I think he still does." Jessica sighs too.
'Or maybe he's just trying to hide his guilt from the both of you." Martin said sarcastically as he entered the room. "There you go again with that crap.' Jessica said angrily. "Forget I said anything, I forgot just how blind the both of you are to his faults." Martin laughs putting his bag in his locker then leaving the room.
"I swear, if that guy doesn't check his attitude and get off TJ back I'm gonna…." Jason swears, folding his fingers in a fist. "Oh please not now." Jessica waves her hands in frustration. "He has been getting on everyone's nerves lately so you'll have to get in line and seeing as though we just finish a double shift, I say we leave Martin for another day." Jessica yarned tiredly. "Alright but if he doesn't back off of TJ case and I mean soon, I may have to strangle the bastard." Jason sneered.
