Caleb didn't know what hurt more, the pain in his chest because of how badly he had hurt the mother of his child. The hurt looks on Ty's face because most of what Maya said was true or the disappointed look on his parent's faces. He sucks in a deep breath through his nose, bends down, picks up the ring, and walks towards the keys to his bike but Fabian got there before he did and grabs the keys.
"Give those back." Caleb sneers angrily trying to get the keys away from Fabian. "Not a chance in hell, there's no way we're letting you get on that thing when you're this upset," Fabian said taking a stance before him.
"Fabian…." "Zip it, Eric and Myran have already gone after her to make sure she's okay and now you need to go upstairs and cool the hell off." Fabian orders pointing up the stairs. "Like hell, I will give me my damn keys or…." "Or nothing, you heard your brother now get up those stairs." His dad's voice booms across the room. Without saying another word Caleb run up the stairs enter his room and slam the door shut behind him.
A few hours later thinking everyone was asleep he went back downstairs and was about to take the keys once again when his dad's voice stops him. "This way son." His dad said from behind him. "Dad please I just need to go see her okay." "And you will, just not tonight. You both need time to cool off, talking to her tonight may only make things worse." His dad states.
Caleb slump on the sofa and runs his fingers over his cornrows, then over his face, and sighs in distress. "So care to tell me exactly what happened in Miami?" His dad asks handing him a cold beer.
"I messed up dad, really badly. I mean it wasn't planned or anything, she wasn't even supposed to be there but there she was and at that moment she looked good I mean like really good and so we went out for a drink. I mean I won. I had my trophy and five thousand US dollars so yeah I felt like celebrating and the next thing I knew it was the next morning and she was beside me. I can't even remember all that happened." He sighs again.
"Do you think you were drugged?" His dad asks with concern. "No not drugged, drunk out of my mind but not drugged and now I may have lost Maya and my daughter." He groans. "And I can see how disappointed you're in me." He said his head down.
"Of course I am, what kind of a father would I be if I wasn't? Now, on the other hand, you're not the first man to royally screw up and if you choose your words carefully you just might be able to fix this but as I said, not tonight, give her some time, now go get some rest. You can tackle this tomorrow." "Alright dad, thanks for not skinning my hide." He snorts. "Oh don't be so grateful yet, there's still time." His dad snorts back.
"And Caleb."His dad called as he was halfway up the stairs. "Yes, dad." He answers tiredly. "What Maya said about your brother, it's not his fault so don't hold it against him, he's who he's and he shouldn't suffer because of it, got that?" His dad asks firmly. "Yes, dad." He grumbles loud enough for his dad to hear before continuing on his way.
