Chapter 100 Our Little girl

The Jacksons had just finished having their Sunday dinner and were clearing the table when the gate buzzer rings. He checks to see who it was and was a little taken aback to hear that it was the police and from the looks, on everyone's faces, they too had a pretty good idea as to why the police were at their gate.

"I'm not leaving. They can't make me. They can't." Amara said in panic clutching onto Fabian's arm as Mr. Jackson buzzed the gate open.

"Caleb please take Maya and the children upstairs." He said opening the front door. "Come on dad, you're not seriously asking me to leave the room right now?" He said in an annoyed tone. "Yes I am and I don't intend to repeat myself so go, now Caleb." He orders.

Caleb knew that it was his habit of acting before thinking things through why his father asked him to leave the room. He also knew better than to argue with his dad so lifting his daughter in his arms, he took Faith by her hand while Maya carries Tyrique.

"We're here for my little girl." Mr. Edwards demands storming into the house and towards Mr. Jackson. One of the officers steps forward as he saw both Ty and Fabian step in front of Mr. Jackson to block Mr. Edwards from him.

"Let's keep this civilize people." He said firmly. "Now Mr. Jackson we were told that you had this man's daughter here against her will so if you just release her to us we'll be on our way." He adds.

"And if you don't comply with our request then we'll not hesitate to arrest all of you." The other one adds as well. Taking a deep breath and rolling her eyes Amara steps forward. "That won't be necessary. I'm Amara Edwards. I'm the little girl they're here for." She said hands on her hips.

"This's not a joke people, hand over the child right now or you'll all be arrested." "No joke here officers, I'm their daughter, their only daughter." She states in a flat tone.

"What exactly is going on here?" One of the officers demands. "Let me explain," Amara said hands folded across her breasts. "It's like this, my father here gave you false information to get you here…be…" "Amara…." Her father said in a threatening tone but she just glares at him and continues.

"As I was saying, I'm twenty-five years old but they still treat me like I'm ten, that's the reason they keep referring to me as their little girl but as you can see, I'm not so little anymore and I'm not here against my will." She states firmly.

The officer's exchange looks before turning to Mr. Edwards. "Is this true sir?" One of them asks. "The part about her being our daughter, yes but the rest was probably planted in her head by these brainwashing people because our little girl would never speak to us like that." He said in disgust.

"Stop calling me that." She snaps. "I'm a grown woman and I'm speaking to you like this because I've lost all respect for the both of you and the only reason I moved out is that the both of you were determined to murder my unborn child." She said in a cold tone.

"The both of you were probably hoping that by coming over here you would upset me so much that I would miscarry or maybe you were hoping to make Fabian out to be a dangerous person so that the police would either shoot him or throw him in prison." She said angrily.

"Sweetheart please just listen to us and…." "And what mom?" She snaps again cutting her mom's words off. "Move back into that prison you call a home, no way in hell." "Don't you speak to your mother like that?" Mr. Edwards sneers. "Where's your respect?" He demands.

"I lost it remember, now just do me a favor and get the hell out of my sight. I'm done jumping through hoops to please both of you. I'll be making the decisions in my life from now on." She said taking a deep breath.

"Officers I'm sorry they wasted your time but I'm not leaving. These people are monsters and I want nothing to do with them." She said turning to leave the room but her father grabs her arms.

"Let go of me!" She shouts. "I'm still your father and I say you're coming with us right now." "Get your hands off her!" Fabian growls grabbing the arms Mr. Edwards had on Amara.

"Stay out of this boy. This's between me and my daughter." "Not anymore, now it's either you release her or I'll make you." Fabian states.

"Alright, Mr. Edwards it's time to leave." One of the officers said. 'We won't charge you for giving us false information but she can charge you for assault if you don't let her go right now." The other one said.

Mr. Edwards swears under his breath as he reluctantly lets her go. "For crying out loud man, what is your problem with me and my family?" Fabian asks standing directly in front of Mr. Edwards, his arms fold across his chest.

"I'll not have my daughter associating with your kind." Mr. Edwards said in a scornful tone. "Wait, my kind? Last I checked we are all Jamaicans here and she has been associating with me for the past four years." Fabian said in a defensive tone.

"I owe you no explanation boy, you're beneath me and you best believe that all this associating will no doubt be ending very soon." "Oh wow, I'm beneath you now? Unbelievable." He said shaking his head.

"This isn't over Amara, you're my child, and like it or not you'll obey me." "Is it okay for him to threaten her like that?" Mr. Jackson asks." "No it's not, let's go sir before you say something that will put you in prison." One of the officers said leading the man towards the door.

But not before the man could send them each a hostile glare the other officer then leads Mrs. Edwards from the house as well but before she steps outside she turns and gave her daughter a regretful look.
