Research lab - GWRM

A cold morning with sunrays hidden behind a cozy fog, in a cottage nearby thick forest stood a beautiful figure admiring the morning beauty of cold winter;

" This is beautiful! But where is my beloved sun? ah! Are you angry with me ha? I am sorry! I know I promised you I would never touch any kind of drink but-

"You mean alcohol?" came a sleepy soar voice behind her.

"Ahh! That startled me, at least make some noise while coming! Hmm you are right I mean alcohol!" she said while narrowing her eye.

"What? Jiah, you were the one who dragged me to the bar and u were the one who insisted on getting drunk and behaving like drunkard!! Now stop throwing arrows at me, If not I will kill you!"

"I am sorry my dappled cold baby blue!"

"What is that 'my dappled cold baby blue'?"

" it's you, my dear Maira!"

"what? Me? How? Am I a baby? Ahh! Please, I am already 21."

"wait, let me explain to you. Your eyes are as deep as the ocean with the blue hazel color you make one's heart flutter and with your sexy v jawline face you make everyone go crazy, Ah my baby are you a celebrity?"

"Thanks my dear, it's my turn to describe your looks now. Your eyes surrounded with black eyeliner and mascara is scaring me like hell, your makeup is damn so horrible, you will surely kill anyone who would see you right now!" Maira rolled her eyes at her best friend.

"what? I am the most beautiful and sexy girl ok!"

"right now you are not!"

"what do you mean?" Jiah asked as she puffed her cheeks.

"take a look at yourself, I will go and make coffee for you till than enjoy seeing your looks."

Maira started walking towards the kitchen while she said-

"don't shout!"

"Why would I shout?"

Maira laughed as she saw her best friend rushing towards her room, she knew that she would hear her best friend screaming very soon.

She took the coffee container from the upper cupboard to make coffee for Jiah as she was not fond of coffee but she loved fresh morning juice.

"AHHHHHHHHH! Maira!!! Help me, oh my god what happened to my face? Why is it like this? Oh my god! Maira what should I do now?" came Jiah running from her room.

"just go and freshen up Jiah!"

"But look at these, are these dark circle?"

"maybe!"

"what maybe? Maira, what should I do?"

"go and freshen up! You look a total mess right now!"

Jiah nodded her head and went back to her room to take a shower.

After sometime when Jiah came back she saw Maira in her work attire even though she was a girl still her heart fluttered seeing Maira.

Maira was wearing a ankle-length black jeans with a white v lined blouse which showed all her positive features which made her look gorgeous!

"Oye? What are you doing there? Aren't you hungry?"

"ah! I am hungry, very much.!"

Jiah came and sat on the dining table, she smiled when she saw the coffee cup.

"Thank you my dappled cold baby blue!" she grinned widely.

"ah! Not again Jiah, stop calling me that, please!"

"hmm let me think.... Never, I will not stop!" Jiah smiled childishly.

"you are impossible you know that?"

"yes I know, today we are going to Delhi right? For a new project? Or is it tomorrow?" Jiah asked.

"Jiah! we have our flight scheduled at 11 AM, I hope you have packed your luggage if not you have one hour to do so!"

"I was just kidding bae! I know our schedule! I will go and get my luggage, it's almost 9 now, we need to leave."

"ok." Maira smiled at her.

"ahh! Don't! don't smile! You will kill me!" Jiah held her chest as if she was love shot.

Maira rolled her eyes at her crazy friend and went back to her room to bring her luggage.

In Airport-

After 1 hour-

" Maira, what do you think? Will the project be successful or not?"

"It depends on how well we will work on it!" said Maira.

"Are you excited? We are going to work on a national project!? That too officially! I am so excited!"

"what do you mean by officially? So till now we worked unofficially?"

"But we never worked for national proj-"

Jiah couldn't complete her sentence as there was an announcement from the airport management crew.

'the boarding gate for flight AI9804 to Delhi is open, all the passengers are requested to come at boarding gate 42A'

" I think we should go now." Said Maira.

DELHI

(Research center)

"Today all the students we considered will be here, I hope they will make a great team for this project and our project would be successful. Mr. Rahul will be monitoring the students and we will monitor the progress ok?" said Ravikumar 'the head of the research center'

"yes, sir," said Rahul.

After 2 hours-

"Sir, all students are here." Said one of the employees.

"ok, I will be there." Said Ravikumar

In the conference room-

"look at him, oh my god he is so hot man, should I go and ask him if he is single?"

"Jiah, come to your senses we are here for project not for your hot boys." Warned Maira.

"hmm, you are right."

Everyone was busy in reading the details given to them about the machine and on the reasons for making this machine.

"oh my god, Maira! Look at him who is he? He is so handsome! Is he a god or what? how can he be so handsome ha? It is so unfair!"

Jiah pointed out a person who entered the conference room.

"Good afternoon students, I am Ravikumar the head of this research center, and meet Mr. Rahul, he will be monitoring you and your work as well. I hope you will be a great team and produce a great result! All the best." Said Ravikumar.

"oh my god, what should I do now?"

"What happened?" asked Maira.

"I had a crush on our Mr. Rahul, now how can I focus on work while he is around! Look at him, he is so handsome and look at his body! Does he go to the gym? Once in a month or once in a week or daily? Should I ask him?"

"Jiahhh! Shut up and focus!"

"good afternoon everyone, I am Rahul and I will be monitoring you so do well and for now, let's see why we need to build this machine"

Lights went off and on screen there was a display of recent news-

The screen went off and lights were on, everyone turned towards Rahul.

"Now I hope you know the reason behind building this machine, tonight we will be moving to forest nearby Shimla and start our preparation on building machine by tomorrow morning. For now, you may go and have some rest. The session ends here, thank you everyone." Said Rahul.

"We came from Shimla to here and again we will be going back? Wow! Impressive right! Right, Maira?" Jiah was slightly disappointed.

"It's ok Jiah, let's go and have some rest." Said Maira.

"um.. hi?"

A handsome guy approached them, the one who was named as 'hot' by Jiah was here and she was blushing, smiling and anyone could say that she was nervous while Maira shook her head seeing her best friend's behavior.

"Hi," said Maira.

"I am Amit from Mumbai and you?" he was looking at Jiah who stood there staring at him.

"I am Maira and this is Jiah, we are from Shimla."

She elbowed Jiah so that she could come out of her dreamland.

"oh, yeah Hii," said Jiah.

After that all the other students introduced themselves, they were around 10 members from different states.

"so, how are you?" asked Amit.

"I am cool and you are so hot!" said Jiah as she stared at him.

Amit raised his eyebrow at her.

"I-I mean I am fine and you are handsome," Jiah said.

"Thanks for the compliment and even you are gorgeous." Amit chuckled.

"really? Thank you." Jiah blushed on his compliment.

While both of them were flirting, Maira was sitting there thinking ' why am I here' and there she got an answer from her Friend that said 'should I get some privacy?' Maira was in disbelief, she saw her friend who was smiling like a baby.

"um... I will go first, I have some work to do."

"ok, I will see you later." Said Jiah.

"bye, take care, Maira. See you tonight." Said Amit.

Maira came back to her room and studied the machine which they were going to build.

After reading it for quite some time she sensed that something was wrong.

After reading it again and again, she went to the administration office to see Mr. Rahul.

"Good evening, sir?"

"Miss Maira, good evening, how can I help you?" asked Rahul.

"I think this part of the machine will cause some problem so I thought to discuss it with you." She said.

"you were studying the project?"

"yes"

"Which part?"

"Radioactive part"

"What makes you to think that this will cause a problem?"

"Sir, if you see clearly and study it, you will realize that using any of the radiations and radioactive elements will lead to failure because this GWRM (global warming reduction machine) is a low reactive machine, it will be a disaster sir!" explained Maira.

Rahul thought for a moment and then nodded in response.

"I will study it once again and later I will go and speak with the head."

"thank you."

Maira came back to her room and saw Jiah standing near the window.

"You are already back? I thought you said you need privacy?" teased Maira.

"Shut up Maira, we were just having a friendly conversation"

"ah, I see, friendly conversation?"

At night 10:00 –

"All the students are here?" asked Rahul

"yes sir."

They were in flight AI8905 to Shimla which was ready to take off.

Next morning-

"did you speak to the head of the project about the problem we discussed yesterday?" asked Maira.

"hmm, I did." Said Rahul.

"so, what did he say?"

"he said nothing will go wrong so there will be no changes in that part!"

"what? This will be a disaster!!"

"what disaster?" asked Jiah who was coming towards them with Amit.

"what disaster?" Jiah asked again.

Rahul explained everything to them.

"yes, you are right it will be a complete disaster, but what should we do now?" asked Amit.

"There is nothing to do other than following the orders given by higher authorities, we need to be safe ok?"

"yes sir," said Jiah, Maira, and Amit simultaneously.

The research lab was situated in the middle of the thick forest. All the students were staying at company dorm which was not far from research lab.

"Everyone today will be your first day at this lab, so work hard and get a good result for us." Said Rahul.

After 1 year and 4 months-

It was April month, the sun was shining bright and birds were singing melodiously, the atmosphere was great and even the temperature was moderate.

'Today is the day we all were waiting for, today India is going to experiment our GWRM. Will it be a success? Or failure?' the trending news headline on all news channels was on top.

It was the day of the experiment.

"Good morning students, today is the day we have been waiting for. Today we will be conducting our experiment on GWRM (global warming reduction machine). Are you excited?" asked The head of the research center 'Ravikumar'

"yes sir," said, everyone.

"I am nervous because of the radioactive element and other radiation! I just hope everything will be fine." Said Maira.

"Even I am nervous!" said Amit.

"Guys, don't worry everything will be fine!" said Jiah as she smiled.

"yeah I hope so.!" said Maira.

Everyone was escorted to the empty place in the middle of the forest where they were going to experiment it!

After arranging the machine in the correct order and the correct direction, everyone went back to there positions in the control room.

"start the procedures" ordered Ravikumar.

"everything with 100% integration? No problem with any of the parts?" asked Rahul.

"no problem sir"

"ok let's start the machine on the count of 10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1"

There was B-O-O-M sound and everything went blank

The only sound which could be heard was the beep sound of the remote.

Maira woke up with a very bad headache, she held her head with both her hands. She was unable to see anything as the whole lab was covered in black dust. She stood up and started walking so that she could open the windows, she stumbled on her foot and fell; she saw Jiah lying on the floor unconscious.

"Jiah, wake up! Jiah?"

She ran towards the window and opened it but to her surprise, even the climate outside was very bad, it was dark and gloomy. The black dust was fading away, she turned back and she saw everyone lying on the floor unconscious.

She was so shocked that she stood rooted at the same place for quite a while and then she saw Amit's body turning into black ash!
