Chapter 13

He walked across the campus to the subway, taking it to Fourteenth, and then walked the four blocks to his apartment building.

Colin no sooner got in his apartment’s door when his cell started to ring. He fished in his messenger bag and found his phone. “Hello?”

“Hi Colin, it’s Marc.” As if he wouldn’t recognize that voice as Marc’s—his voice was as smooth as melted chocolate and the man was just as yummy.

“Hi Marc, I didn’t expect to hear from you today.” I hope he’s not planning to cancel—maybe the scar bothers him after all.

“I just wanted to make sure about Thursday. I told you that Michelle was cooking, so be prepared to eat.”

Colin smiled. “You forget, a poor student and struggling writer here, you put food in front of me and I’ll eat it.”

Marc laughed out loud. “Deal, I’ll make sure you stuff yourself. I’ll let you go, I remember you said you had work to do, but I wanted to hear your voice.”

Colin stared at the phone in his hand and wondered if he had misheard Marc.
