Danita, Karen and I were on the tail end of a four-hour shopping trip looking for Danita’s wedding dress on the day before the last day of the year. David and she had decided not cater to the expected white wedding scenario since this was their second time down the aisle. Their colors were pink and gold in honor of their respective fraternal organizations. They planned to get married in a simple ceremony at their church in Garner followed by a reception at a local hotel. In a true sense of working as a couple, David and she selected and paid for the flowers, arranged the catering, and booked the honeymoon. Instead of her father “giving” her away, Devon and Nia would walk with their mother down the aisle and along with David’s son, stand together at the altar.
