I told you, after I told Jasmine about how much fun CIAA is and how it makes me envious I didn’t have the HBCU experience, she decided it would be fun to check it out. She went to Fisk and tries to make it back to homecoming each year. I told her CIAA was like a whole lot of homecoming weekends rolled into one. How could she refuse?
See what you missed by going to a white school. Something about the HBCU experience makes you feels all warm and fuzzy inside.
Yolanda was a poster girl of the complete black college experience. She participated in the marching band, pledged a sorority, joined the honor society and represented her dorm during her sophomore homecoming. Yolanda always said she claimed two homes: the one we grew up in Grifton and the dorms in Durham. Charlotte was just a stepping-stone.
