After the elves finished putting food on the table, they started looking at me expectantly, waiting for me to start eating.

And not wanting to keep these cheerful creatures waiting, I sat at the table, grabbed a plate, and poured some bacon and potatoes. So I took the first bite of this wonderful food, which is one of the best and tastiest I've ever eaten in my two lives, and I couldn't help but praise them.

"This food is amazing! You guys are the best cooks I've ever seen" I said to the elves. And after I said that, the elves started crying with joy, and there were even some who hugged my legs under the table.

"Master Ethan is so good to us!"

"No one has ever complimented Tassy's food before"

"We don't deserve such kindness!"

And seeing these happy, tearful little faces, I could only shake my head, a wry smile on my face, knowing full well that it was almost impossible to try to change the opnion and the adoration they have for serving, so I just let them continue to express themselves, and continued to eat.

'I just hope they don't start a service with how much worship they are showing me,' I thought playfully as I popped a piece of omelet into my mouth.

'Hmm, but this food is really good'

After eating until I was full, having eaten a little of everything they brought for me, I got up to continue my exploration of the castle.

But just as I was going to say goodbye to the elves to go out, something came to my mind.

My Beast Power had an ability that allowed me to open a connection with animals, and if I was touching this animal, I could open a stronger connection for 7 minutes.

But I've only tried this power on common animals, and the connection has always been a little fuzzy. I had assumed this was due to the fact that common animals had simpler, less developed minds, and after seeing that my power worked on more conscious magical creatures like the goblins I saw in Gringotts, I started to think about what it would be like to open a connection with some magical creature.

And now in front of me, I had over 100 magical creatures that had a developed minds, and I obviously wasn't going to miss the opportunity to see what that connection would be like.

"Hmm... Could any of you guys help me with something?" I asked them.

And when I said that, immediately all the elves rushed forward and started jumping and talking, trying to be the one I would choose to help me.

"Hmm…how about you?" I said pointing to a little elf with big yellow eyes and pointy ears, who squeaked as I pointed at him.

"Dispys would be very happy to be able to help Master Ethan!" the little elf, now known as Dispys, said excitedly as he came towards me taking little hops along the way.

"Okay Dispys, what I'm going to do now won't hurt him or anything, so keep calm" I said, trying to make the little elf as calm as possible since I didn't know if the connection would be harder if he was nervous.

The worst thing that could happen is that the connection would be more confusing than with ordinary animals, as now both sides of the connection have more complex minds.

But something else can happen is the connection just fails, which would be disappointing.

Looking at Dispys in front of me, I brought my hand close to his head, and as soon as I touched him, I opened a connection with him.

A direct connection to a common animal was simple, confusing, and uninformative. But this connection was different, in a way I couldn't even explain.

I could feel all the joy, happiness, surprise, and immense desire to serve me coming from the little elf, and these emotions even affected me a little, influencing my own emotions to the point where I had to use occlumency.

I then tried to do something that was not possible to do with an ordinary animal, which was to try to transmit some thoughts and memories to Dispys.

I found that I could do this when I opened a connection with a rat, but I unintentionally started thinking about things from my other life, and unfortunately, I ended up frying the little animal's brain.

But I was sure I wouldn't hurt the elf, and that certainty came from a feeling as if something told me I could do it.

The thoughts I wanted to convey to Dispys were my gratitude that he was helping me. And the memories were of a dish I saw on a cooking show in my past life, which was chicken Stroganoff and french fries cut into thin strips.

As soon as I conveyed my thoughts to Dispys, I could feel his euphoria and joy, and at some point, he even started to cry with happiness. But his feelings shifted to surprise as he saw my memories flash through his mind.

The little elf is now unconsciously sending me his thoughts, thoughts of how he would make a dish of Stroganoff for me to please me. And I felt like I could see his other memories if I tried a little bit, and that it would be a lot easier than legilimence.

As thoughts and memories came and went, the connection grew weaker, demonstrating that she had a limit, and the connection weakened until she closed.

"Sigh, that was phenomenal," I said in awe.

'But apparently, a connection to a being with a complex mind is harder to maintain' I reflected to myself, 'A connection to an ordinary animal could be maintained for 7 minutes at most, but a creature like an elf could only be held for 3 minutes' I continued after counting how much time had passed in my head.

"That was amazing! Young Master Ethan taught Dispys a new dish!" Dispys hissed excitedly, looking at me as if I were Merlin himself in the flesh. And that simple phrase was enough to make all the other elves look at me too.

"A new dish?!"

"Cranky would like Master Ethan to teach him a dish too"

"What dish?!"

"Can Sissy learn too?"

The little elves then started bombarding me again, and I almost regretted using one of those hyperactive creatures to test the connection.

"Look, I would like to teach you all a dish, but I don't have time, and I can only do what I did with Dispys once a week, so regrettably I won't be able to teach you today" that was a lie since I could use the connection again after an hour, but I wouldn't tell them that, as I didn't want a crowd of elves asking me for new dishes all day.

As soon as I said that, I could see how many of the elves got discouraged, but after knowing I could do something like that again in a week they went back to their usual hyperactive attitude.

"Well, I really enjoyed your food, but I still have things to do," I said, realizing I'd spent a lot of time in the kitchen.

"Already?!" Dispys lamented.

"Yes... But I'll be back another day, and then I'll show you more dishes" I said with a smile.

'Thank you, Gordon Ramsay"

"Well then I'll be off," I said to the elves as I started towards the door.

After saying goodbye to the cute little elves, I left the kitchen and started going to my last stop on that floor, which was the Hufflepuff Common Room.

End.
