"Well girls, it's nice and all to see that you want to go to the ball with me, but that won't be possible" I said, causing the girls to stop arguing and look at me.

"What? Why?!" the Puff girl asked somewhat dejectedly.

"Because I actually already have a date" I replied, going over to Luna and taking her hand.

As soon as I took her hand, Luna looked at me in surprise, and I just smiled, winking at her.

I then turned to the other girls, and the look of shock and outrage on their faces satisfied me.

"What?! Do you already have a date!?" the Puff girl looked at me shocked, and I nodded.

"And you're going to the ball with her?!" the older girl asked as she looked at Luna with a frown.

"Yes," I shrugged, "And she's actually the only girl I'd like to have as my ball date."

"But why her?"

"Well, why not?" I looked at the girl who asked the question while tilting my head, "Luna is an amazing, fun and beautiful girl who I trust completely, unlike some shallow and self-serving girls who only want to go to ball with me because of my fame and influence"

And when I said that I looked directly at these girls with a look that said I was talking about them.

"But this... you... the ball..." the Puff girl stuttered, and I could feel her mind short circuiting.

'Yes, realize how inferior you are when compared to my sweet Luna' I thought, stopping a malicious smile from appearing on my face.

And Luna, who was next to me and heard everything I said, looked down, trying to hide her face which was completely red, but a small smile could be seen on her lips.

'He thinks I'm beautiful!' she thought happily, feeling her heart beat faster.

And I, who had noticed Luna's feeling of happiness, thought that she was feeling happy that I had come to her defense.

And without knowing the dreamy girl's inner thoughts, I decided to end the conversation with this group of snobbish and arrogant girls.

"But well, Luna and I still have to practice our dance, since we're going to do the opening dance at the Yule Ball, so we're leaving now" I said.

But before leaving I looked at the girls in front of me with an emotionless smile and a cold look, "It was a displeasure talking to you, and I hope I never have to do it again, so I ask that you do not approach me or my friends again"

And the girls who weren't expecting me to say that or for me to look at them so coldly blinked in surprise, taking a step back.

And feeling that my message was clearly received by them, I nodded satisfied, before turning to leave, still holding Luna's hand.

And when I left I could feel that my words reached that group of girls, as their emotions were in a mess of disappointment, anger, sadness, fear and shame.

'Well, that's what they get for messing with my friend' I thought, and then a cruel gleam flashed in my eyes, 'But this is just the beginning of my revenge'

And the girls who were still shaken felt a chill run through their bodies, along with a bad feeling.

But leaving revenge plans aside for now, I continued walking with Luna through the castle without any specific destination.

However, after a few seconds of walking I realized that Luna was very silent, which was strange.

I then looked to the side and saw Luna looking at her feet, and her hair was hiding her face, but I could see the tips of her red ears.

"Luna?" I called, a little worried, "Are you okay?"

"Uhum" she nodded, but I knew she hadn't paid attention to my question, too focused on her own world.

'I've never seen her so thoughtful before' I thought, frowning, 'I don't think she's thinking about anything bad, since I can feel she's happy, but I'm still worried'

And I then gave her hand that was still linked to mine a light squeeze, "Luna?" I called again.

And it seems that my light squeeze on her hand woke her from her thoughts, as she blinked, lifting her head.

"Uh… Yes?" she asked, turning to me.

"I asked if you are okay" I said.

"Oh, yeah" she muttered softly, "It's just that I was thinking about something."

"I noticed" I shook my head with an ironic smile.

I then looked at her with a look of curiosity, "So, what were you thinking about?" I asked.

"I was thinking about the ball" she replied.

"About the ball?" I looked at her confused.

"Yes" she nodded, looking straight ahead again, "I was thinking that I don't have a dress to wear to the ball, and that I have to tell my father that I won't be able to spend this Christmas with him"

"And actually I was also thinking about us, and how surprised I am to know that we're going to the ball together" she said, her cheeks blushing again.

And hearing her I blinked.

"Oh, actually I only said we were going to the ball together to annoy those girls" I said, and that made Luna stop, with her slowly turning her face towards me.

"...Oh" she said, and I could feel the disappointment and sadness in her voice.

She then looked back at the floor, looking away from me, and I felt a tightness in my chest when I saw her like this.

'Why is she sad? Did she really want to go to the ball?' I wondered, remembering that she was a third year and that she could only go to the ball if someone from fourth year and up asked her.

"Hmm, Luna, did you want to go to the ball?" I asked, and the girl was quiet for a few seconds before answering me.

"I've never been to a ball before, and I thought this might be fun since I'd be with you... And our friends" she said.

"I understand" I nodded.

An awkward silence then fell over us, with Luna still looking down despondently as I thought.

And after a few moments I began to speak, breaking the silence.

"You know, I'm one of the champions of the Tri-Wizard Tournament, and because of that I have to do the opening dance at the ball" I commented, and Luna looked at me confused, not understanding why I was talking about this.

"And well, it's obvious that for that I need a date, and unfortunately I don't have one yet" I continued to say, "Of course, many girls want to be my date, as you saw a little while ago, but I don't want to go with any of them"

"Actually, I want to go with someone who really knows me, who is fun, who doesn't mind my eccentricities, and who is almost as crazy as me" I smiled slightly, "And that said, I can only think of one girl who fits all these criteria... And that girl is you"

And saying that I turned to face my peculiar friend, "And that's why I want to ask you, Luna... Do you want to go to the ball with me?"

"Huh?" Luna stared at me paralyzed, being caught completely off guard.

And her expression was so cute and funny that it made me laugh, and that brought her out of her dazed state.

"Are you… Are you sure? Do you really want me to be your date to the Yule Ball?" she asked me with a look of uncertainty and nervousness.

"Yes, I'm sure" I nodded with conviction.

However, this didn't end Luna's uncertainty, and seeing this I knew I had to do something.

And with that in mind I stopped in front of the blonde girl and held both of her hands with mine, making her look at me.

"And you know what?" I said, smiling gently at Luna, "I didn't lie when I told those girls that you were the only girl I would like to have as my date."

And hearing this made Luna blink in surprise, and after a few seconds her cheeks started to blush, with a small shy smile starting to appear on her face.

And seeing this I knew I had to strike while the iron was still hot.

"So, Luna Lovegood, I ask you again. Do you want to go to the Yule Ball with me?" I asked, looking deep into Luna's eyes.

And this time I didn't find any hint of uncertainty, fear or nervousness in Luna's eyes, just happiness, affection and trust.

"Yes, I want to go to ball with you!" she replied, with a huge joyful smile that left me stunned for a moment.

'Beautiful' was what I thought, feeling something stir inside me.

But then I noticed that Luna was still looking at me, and shaking my head I sent my thoughts to the back of my mind.

"Well, that's great" I told her, smiling happily as I lightly squeezed her hands, "And I'm sure we're going to be the best and most amazing couple at the ball" I proclaimed.

"Or the weirdest and craziest couple" Luna joked, and I laughed, knowing that was more likely.

"Yes... The weirdest and craziest couple..." I said, feeling like it didn't sound so bad.

End.
