Ritual process

Lucifer stared at the large mirror that was fixed in the wall near the sink. His hand held the edge of the sink with a firm grip.

Pushing the long sleeves of his shirt up, he turned the faucet before splashing water on his face.

His black eyes as dark as the night sky looked into the mirror. The wound in the corner of his lip had healed itself. Pulling the tissues, he dabbed them on his face.

On hearing the footsteps of his guards, he pulled his sleeves down.

Two study guards with a scar on their faces entered the room.

"Your highness." One of them approached him.

"Did you get her?" Lucifer tossed the tissue insto the bin.

"No." They shook their heads sadly. "She was found dead. A young girl was behind the killing of Her highness."

"Where is she? Bring her to me!" He tightened his fist.

"The Elders has declared for the wedding to continue with the young girl as your bride." The guard bowed his head again.

The anger growing inside Lucifer was growing with each passing second.

When Nina heard the words, she felt her eyes budge out. What just happened?

"I…. I didn't kill her. You have to understand that this is all a misunderstanding." She tried to convince them.

"You should know by now that you're Lucifer's mate. The true Queen of the underworld."

"Guards!" He charged and two guards knelt down in front of him.

"She should be taken to the maid's for preparation of the wedding." Without bothering to hear her response, the Elders walked down the hallways leading to the ceremony.

Nina was still in shock. She didn't know how to react with what just happened. She turned to Hannah who still had the same expression on her face. Before she knew it, they seized her and led her to a room.

Nina sat down quietly as the maids put the finishing makeup on her. She didn't utter a word while they dressed her, did her hair. She had tried fighting with the guards but the Elders appeared from nowhere and she regretted ever going against them because she went through hell.

They had warned her that her heart would be burnt down if she doesn't comply with them. She didn't think the Elders would be this powerful. Hernia didn't mention it to her.

She was afraid of what Lucifer would do to her if he sees her. She has felt his powers and she isn't confident that she was strong.

The death of the woman and she framing her up was still fresh in her head. Once the wedding was over she would try every means to escape from here.

"All done now. We should go now." One of the maids named Sara said.

Nina slowly stood up not interested in any of this but she didn't have any choice. As she walked, she caught her reflection in the mirror.

The maids had made her look like a whole different person. The makeup was dark and her hair was rolled up. She looked more beautiful than before. Too bad she didn't care.

The wedding ceremony was going on smoothly but everyone was so eager to see their bride most especially Lucifer. His first bride was killed and he was so impatient to see the feisty woman who would dare to do any of that.

The only reason he wanted to get married was because he wanted to acquire the throne. After falling down from grace five thousand years ago and killed by Michael, he reincarnated back to world.

Lucifer shook the thoughts from his head and waited for his new bride. Just as he thought of her, she entered the hall trailing behind the maids.

She was dressed in a log black shiny gown that hugged her body perfectly. Something was off about the girl and he couldn't point where he remembered her. Why was she so familiar?

A veil was covering her face so he couldn't see her clearly.

She must have felt him staring at him because seconds later their eyes met. The moment she stepped in front of him he gulped hard. The both of them continued staring at each other.

The witch man cleared his throat to break them from the gaze. After reading the long oath, the both of them answered yes. Nina said it with nervousness in her. She would have to begin her plan of escaping immediately.

It was now time to kiss. Lucifer carefully removed the veil covering her face and was shocked to see the woman behind the veil.

Time seemed to stop. All he could do was stare at the woman as anger and hatred overtook him.

This was the woman who had been summoning him years ago. Now she was here, and he was even more shocked to realize that she was his mate.

How come? All of this must be a coincident. How could the woman trying to kill him be his mate? Did she also come here to kill him?

When Nina felt the pull of the mating bond towards Lucifer, fear and panic took over her. The dark aura coming from him was giving her signs to back off before it would be too late.

Like a terrified kitten, she began to take cautious steps backwards.

"Stop." He held her hand to stop her from moving.

Nina froze not knowing if she should use her powers on him and run away. His black eyes stared into her brown ones.

"You have so much courage for you to plot in killing me and now getting married to me."

The sudden nervousness Nina felt made her hands turn wet. Her heart was thumping fast with each passing second. Nina who hated crowd cursed inwardly when all eyes were on her.

"i… I don't know what you're saying." Her words turned out to be innocent like as if she being was accused wrongly. Why did Hernia even send her to do an impossible task? The way he was holding her hand made her red. Had it been they were alone she would have fought with him but she was surrounded with different people.

He appeared to be someone who could destroy a whole generation with just a snap of finger. Why was she even acting calm in front of the man she was supposed to kill?

"Your heart has been very noisy since you came here. Do you want to know what happened to the person who tried to kill me like you wanted to do?" He tilted his head.

Nina was silent. Her head was hung low.

"I mutilated his body and fed them to the vultures. You—"

Lucifer's words was cut off by the Elder who approached. "We are wasting so much time in here, Lucifer"

Nina closed her eyes waiting for the kissing part. She imagined his lips on hers and her blood boiled with anger. He leaned closer and when his lips was almost close to hers, she received a knock on her forehead.

Nina eyes fluttered open with anger as she stared at him. This man! She wouldn't hesitate to slice his head off if she had the chance.

"The ritual process should begin." The Elder named Devon declared.

"What process?" Nina asked Sara who was standing close to her.

"The time Lucifer would be baptized and acquire darker powers. The time when he would be so dangerous than ever before."

Who cares? Nina asked in her mind. Once she had the slightest opportunity she would run from here but she was afraid of what the Elders might do to her.

Suddenly she found herself in the place where she promised not to come again. She was not the only one there but everyone who attended the wedding.
