"Doctor how long will it take for him to wake up"
A man asked, glancing at a Female doctor who was engrossed in monitoring some holographic panel.
Beside her were three more doctors, who were currently observing a gray-haired boy inside a healing pod.
"Hmm, it's hard to say from our calculation he should have taken around 3 hours to wake up after we put him in the healing pod but it's already been 4 days, and he hadn't shown a single indication of waking up."
One of the male doctors said
"It appears that he is trapped in some kind of spell, that's preventing him from waking up"
Another one followed
"Oh! So when the effect of the spell wore off then he will be fine right?"
"No, you big old Buffoon, there's still a chance that he might die even before he wakes up"
The third doctor replied with an irritated and angry tone.
"Then isn't this a relief, when I first brought him to you, you said that he would definitely die but now there is just a slight chance that he will."
The man said grinning.
"Sometimes I doubt how the hell you managed to get accepted as a guard in humanity's most powerful military academy, Roger."
The third doctor insulted his anger growing up.
"Don't insult me, Matthew! you can't even comprehend how many times I have failed before getting accepted here"
"Can all of you be quiet for a moment he is showing signs of waking up"
The female doctor, who had remained silent until now, raised her voice in annoyance at the commotion caused by the other doctors and the guard.
Upon hearing her shout, their collective attention swiftly shifted back to the black-haired boy, enclosed within the healing pod. Each individual then proceeded to scrutinize a myriad of holographic screens, each displaying a distinct type of information.
Of course, the guard named Roger was an exception.
••••••••
Awaking me from my slumber was the loud noise of people bickering.
The headache was gone and I could also faintly feel some kind of warm and sticky liquid enveloping my whole body, causing my lethargic self to feel more energetic.
Opening my eyes, I found myself trapped inside a pod in a laboratory, the types I have watched in sci-fi movies and imagined while reading sci-fi novels.....Wait, trapped inside a pod in a sci-fi laboratory?
My still drowsy eyes widened at once when I realized that.
I scanned my surroundings once again, only to find myself overwhelmed by a torrent of thoughts that surged through my mind.
Why am I inside an experimental pod?
shouldn't I be dead?
Did, she decide to kill herself?
No, why I didn't die is not important right now, what is, is why am I in an experimental pod? Are they thinking of making me a lab rat?
But why?
Did they find out that I am a transmigrator?
No that's impo....might be possible
that fucking bastard -
I was going to go deeper into my sea of thoughts when suddenly someone from the other side of the pod started banging the glass-like barrier, he was saying something but because of the barrier, I couldn't hear it.
Taking a closer look at his face brown hair and blue eyes I recognized who he was.
It was the guard, the first person I spoke to after coming to this world.
Just then I heard a female voice in my mind
'Calm down kid, you are panicking for no reason.'
Telepathy?
Upon hearing the female voice in my head, I instantly turned toward the only female person present in the room and asked.
'Who are you?'
'you are sharp, it's not every day I see an unawakened 15-year-old boy who can withstand the side effects of relaxation liquid'
She spoke with a pen-like device in her hand, looking toward some holographic panels, which were showing information about my health.
'l asked who. are. you.'
By now I was starting to get annoyed and it seemed she understood it, as she looked towards me and spoke through telepathy.
'I'm one of the doctors who treated you when you came here under some kind of skill, this place is my lab which is currently used as an infirmary. They brought you here asking for my assistant to wake you up.'
'Oh!'
'wait, patently and we will get you out of the healing pod.'
Saying so the female doctor turned around and started monitoring some holographic panels again.
A few minutes later, the glass barrier that was stopping my exit began to gradually recede from both the upper and lower ends of the healing pod.
After coming out of it I suddenly stumbled to the ground, and in an instant, the energetic me was gone replaced by the tired me.
Was the pod supplying me with energy?
I thought and the answer came not long after.
"Don't worry it's natural to feel like that after getting out of a relaxation pod, you will recover in a few minutes"
The guard who was banging the barrier a few minutes ago said as he pulled me up on my feet.
After a certain amount of time passed, I did begin to regain my energy as he had said.
"Thank you for healing me, and I am sorry for any inconvenience that I may have caused."
I said after recovering enough to freely stand on my own, as I still have to act like a good kid.
[the unnatural expression is back, but no one will comment on it, thinking that it's because of what he has been through before losing consciousness ]
"you better be boy, from the moment you came here you were nothing but a nuisance"
With a distinct expression of disdain etched across his face, one of the doctors uttered his words, in a tone that hinted at his dissatisfaction.
Hearing his words my eyebrows twitched a little. [:it's not just little.]
"Then I'm sorry once again for whatever trouble I have caused"
I said again, But despite my words, he merely scoffed before diverting his gaze elsewhere.
Just then out of nowhere, the guard who had banged the glass barrier earlier, patted my back, causing me to flinch in surprise, and I was once again reminded of how weak I had become. Chuckling, he uttered,
"Hahaha, don't take his words to heart. Matthew is simply frustrated due to his lack of sleep over the past four days."
Four days... That's much longer than I thought.
Haa, anyway let's get to point.
I thought and looked at him before asking
"S-sir...can you tell me what happened after I lost consciousness?"
"before that why don't you tell us who used that skill on you?"
Suddenly the dissatisfied doctor named Matthew inquired with impatient eyes.
" skill?..... Was it because of that I lost consciousness?"
I asked acting surprised,
"yeah, so tell us who attacked you? or did someone use some kind of relic power against you?
"I...I don't know when I woke up I was in the crowd after that slowly my head started to hurt until I lost conciseness"
I said and this time for the first time after coming to this world I was telling the truth.
And like most of the time hearing the truth Matthew's eyes become dull, he gritted his teeth, and somehow the atmosphere became awkward.
The awkwardness continued for a few seconds until the female doctor who used telepathy earlier spoke.
"It seems my job is done here, I will be taking a thirty-minute break and I want you all to get out of my lab before I return."
She said and left the infirmary.
But before going out she did look at me from the corners of her eyes one last time.
After she was gone silence once again took place.
And it fell on my shoulder to break that silence.... and so I did.
"What happened to that woman?.... I mean my mother?"
