Chapter Three: Want to be more

The sun gently surrounded my face at all possible places it could. The sound of someone typing on a laptop keyboard filling the morning air.

Wait... my laptop!

I jolt up and out of the bed. Alex closed the laptop quicker than I have ever seen her move. "What the hell are you doing!"

"Calm down! You just scared the SHIT out of me!"

I walk over to my laptop and open it. On the screen was news clippings from the late 1800s. Everything seemed to be about the boy. But all of them seemed to touch the same bases as the one I read yesterday. "Why?"

"It just was intriguing. I had to get more info on this. But all the news papers said the same things."

"That's means you have to go deeper. Wait why am I helping you? Shut this stuff down. Today is our free day and I'm not spending it looking at old newspapers on a dead school boy."

"Alright, but you have to promise me that you are going to talk to Jackson 1 on 1. Meaning I'm not going to be there to mess it up."

"Deal."

"Before we go, Jackson invited me and you to a party in his dorm. Your welcome."

"Thanks. Now let's go."

Me and Alex head out our dorm.

Alex then laughs. "I know we were talking about this a few minutes ago, but do you really think you can talk to Jackson 1 on 1?" Alex smiles at me, hoping to make this walk down the hall more enjoyable.

As I shake my head and look down and giggle. While blushing I say, "No not really." I look up at Alex. "But it doesn't hurt to try."

"Oh Lillian."

"What?"

"Just a tip to help you out, try not to stutter or make things awkward."

I give her the, 'No Duh' face and say, "really?"

We make it to his dorm. Alex knocks three times and Jackson opens the door. "Wasn't expecting you two to come by."

Alex smiles. "Is the party still going on tonight."

"Yeah"

Alex giggles. "Beter be."

So uh.... Lillian."

"Yeah, what's up?"

"Can I talk to you alone?"

I look at Alex. She smiles excitedly. "This is your chance!"

I then look over to Jackson. Whenever I look at his face I feel like I'm in a dream. No way he will ever like a girl like me. "Sure."

I walk into his dorm. Things were neat, his bed sheets were fixed and the curtains open. His roommate was only God knows where, and a painting was nailed on the wall. There was a dog laying next to a tree, with a cat curled up with it. The season must be spring with flowers everywhere, and the sun so bright it made everything was beautiful. "Did you paint this?"

"Yeah. The dog was my mom's dog. He helped guide her because she was blind. But he died soon after I painted this. The cat was my dad's and he would love any and everyone. But he died too."

"I'm sorry. I know loosing a pet can be horrible."

"No you're fine, Its just a painting in the long run anyways. But I really need to talk to you. About... things."

"Go on."

"So yesterday." He smiled and laughed to himself. "After class, I might have overheard something."

"Oh my... Please tell me.."

"Dont be embarrassed. I might have felt the same way."

"What are you trying to say?"

"We have been bestfriends for a long time. But, I want to change that." There was a long pause. He seemed anxious to say something. And I had a feeling to what it was. "Do you want to be my girlfriend?"

I gasped as my face grew red. This is the happiest day of my life. "Omg yes!"

We hug, he pulls away a bit, but not out of the hug, he held on to my waist, looked me in my eyes, and slowly leans in for a kiss. I back away.

"Oh! Did I do something wrong?"

"No, your fine, it's just, things are gonna go really fast if we have kissed on our first day."

"I'm sorry."

"Your fine. You know, let's go out and do something. OH MY GOSH! WE LEFT ALEX STANDING OUT THERE THIS WHOLE TIME!"

I run out and Alex was standing there. Her eyes lightened with relief once she saw me. "What happened?"

The door opens all the way, and Jackson stood beside me. "Me and Jackson might be in a relationship."

"See! I told you things would work out!"

I give Alex a hug. "You did."

A while later we all go to McDonald's and eat out there. But the night was young and all there was left to do was attend Jackson's party.
