Settling In

After around 20 minutes, the convoy finally arrived at their assigned barracks. In front of the barracks there is a sign written "The Righteous Barracks". It is a three story building with a rather big courtyard and stables. It definitely is bigger than the manor the Witterton family owned. They were greeted by various soldiers of the Judgment Army. The one in front of them is dressed in neater clothes and had some golden designs embalmed on his armor. James thought that he had some significant ranking, maybe a lieutenant?

Greeted by the Judgment army, Gerald talked a few minutes, as James is far away from the position they were, he could not hear what they talked about. He just saw the lieutenant point to some directions. After a few minutes they stopped talking and moved into the courtyard.

At this point everyone dismounted their horses and also walked into the courtyard. James dismounted from his horse and followed the other knights into the courtyard, after which he moved towards where the stables are to put his horse in.

After everyone put their horses into the stables, they walked into the front of the building door. Gerald is waiting for his knights at an elevated portion. On this imaginary podium next to Gerald Sir Edward Wulfric is also standing. "My brothers, we are finally here." Gerald called out. "The coming months, this location will be your homes. Edward will explain where everyone will be staying. The Months of Demons is getting close and might come within the coming week. So take some time to set in and rest a bit before the fights start. But never forget, we are the strong and honorable knights of the Kingdom of Graycastle. Let's show these spawns of the devil the strengths of the knights from Graycastle! Make me proud!"

As he said these words, all the knights around James started to cheer. Going with the rising atmosphere, James could not help himself and also scream from his lungs. Chants such as "Long live Prince Gerald!" and "Death to the minions of the Devil" could be heard from the cheering knights.

After the speech was over, Gerald entered the building. As assigned, Edward walked to the front. He pointed at the front. "Sigmund, Gwinnett, Oswald, Daniel and Theo, you will stay at the third floor together with the other inner circle knights and the Prince."

The knights he mentioned moved one step forward. Even looking at their backs, James could see and feel their happiness, being positioned on the same floor as the prince.

Sir Edward continued "From Martin to Johan, you lot will all move to the second floor. The rest of you, you are assigned to the buildings next door."

This continued for some time. After everyone, including the squires, mercenaries and serfs were allocated to the positions they were staying. Sir Edward shouted out, "Now that everyone knows where to stay, I expect everyone back in the courtyard within the hour. Now disperse."

As James is of a lower ranked knight, he has been assigned into the corner of a rundown section in the building next door. He could not do anything but curse his heritage in his heart.

He walked into the building together with mostly squires. He hated this feeling, being aligned with squires. "I AM A KNIGHT" he thought in his heart. "Why am I treated like a second rate person?" He could do nothing but feel defeated, as he walked towards his room to settle in.
