Leaving the Infirmary

With the guilt he felt, James did not know what his next move would be. He had to find Sir Edward and apologize of him. However, his first task was to recover and get out of this place. Trying to sit up, James felt the pain in his shoulder. The wound had not yet healed. Yet he ignored this pain, James asked about a summary of the battle.

Francis told him what happened, and the new hybrid that showed up. Moreover he also told James about the things that Sir Edward had done. After explaining everything, he stood up and said, "Well, I will leave you to your rest. Take care of yourself." With that he turned around and walked away.

Being left alone, James first thought about everything that happened, before feeling tired again. Wondering when he will be free to leave this place, he put his head onto the pillow before closing his eyes again.

The following three days, not much happened. Occasionally Francis showed up to catch up with him. Outside of this, James spends most of his time resting. Today however, is the day that he would be free to leave the infirmary. He was not allowed to carry a sword yet, but he regained enough of his strength to at least walk outside.

He had to train slowly before he could again use his sword properly. To do this, an option was to find a wooden practice sword which he could use to re-grow the lost muscle. With that in mind, James stood up, readied himself and left the infirmary.

Outside, James wondered what to do. As he needed a wooden sword, an idea was to look around in the city, hoping to find a shop that would sell these things. This would be the first time for him to actually spent time in The Holy City. Since he arrived, his time was spent going from the barracks to the wall, and back to the barracks. There were no other activities. The barracks had free mead in the mess hall, so even the other soldiers rather spent their time with their brothers than waste some money.

Walking in the streets of Hermes, James for the first time noticed how big the city actually is. Walking towards the center of the city, the population became denser with every junction he passed. Even the buildings started to have a better architecture. Amazed by all this, James moved forward.

As he walked, James remembered that he did not know where the shopping district actually is. He has never spent proper time in the city, so he had no idea. Deciding to pull over a guy from the street, he asked him, "Good day. I am actually unfamiliar with the city. I have to find the shopping district, where can I find it?"

The man looked at him and responded, "Good day. Well I guess that you are with the soldiers who came to protect the city. First, I would like to thank you for your efforts. As for shopping district, there is not really such a thing in Hermes." Pointing at the east the man continued, "However, you can go to The Saint Benedict district. There are some shops over there close to The Saint's statue."

Thanking the man, James was about to leave, before he remembered the taste of the mead in the barracks. Wanting to drink something better he asked, "What about a tavern or some place that has good drinks?"

Looking at James, a smiled formed up on the man's face as he said, "For that, I would recommend The Saint's Cup. It is also at the same district."

Thanking the man again, James left towards the place the man pointed at.
