I'm at the back of the Pokemon Center, using their training area. It was pretty wide, much wider than the battlefield at the water type gym that's for sure.
We weren't the only one there as several others are practicing with their pokemon as well.
"Aww are all those Ralts yours? They're so cute!" A girl had come up to me and asked.
The 'Ralts' she asked about was with his clones trying out a complicated gesture until they were interrupted by her
My lips formed into a smile and I tried to keep my expression neutral as best as I could but that didn't work as I can feel an increasing amount of anger within me.
Hard to hide your emotions with empaths.
"Yup!" I nodded "And no they aren't cute."
The anger subsided a bit.
"They're super duper cute!" I squealed and the anger came back with double the strength.
The girl chuckled. "Can I hug them!? They won't mind do they?
I could feel someone glaring at me and It just encouraged me more to say yes but I stopped myself.
It wouldn't do any good to tease Ralts, he'd just lose his motivation.
As disappointing as the outcome was, I declined. "I'm sorry but they don't like people touching them."
The girl pursed her lips but she didn't force it. "That's sad, well it was nice meeting you! Bye Ralts" She smiled and walked away.
"Can't you make an exception for at least that girl?" I turned towards Ralts.
He narrowed his eyes at me and raised his hands three times.
"I know it happened three times but it's not my fault that you're so cute~!"
He glared at me again and his clones started to vanish.
"Fine...!" I grumbled "I'll stop calling you cute, how about let's continue what you were doing again? From the top."
Ralts sighed and nodded.
The clones stopped vanishing and they all adjusted to make a straight line.
The lead 'Ralts' put their arms forward, the one behind him put their arms sidewards and the one behind that Ralts put their hands sidewards as well but raised a little higher and so on and so forth until the final Ralts put their arms above their head.
Then they flapped their arms and their line collapsed and reformed to make a new formation.
By then, they all did the same moves and dances, all perfectly in sync, only possible through the use of double team.
Their dance lasted for about a minute until they all stopped, having finished what they all managed to practice
It's still incomplete but I just have to teach him more steps, teach him and his clones how to move more naturally, add some special effects to make the dance more entertaining and we'll be done!
I wasn't really sure at first what performance we were gonna show. A dance routine is what I thought up back then but a simple dance routine isn't exactly entertaining.
Thanks to the battle I had recently, I was able to realise the versatility of the perfect Illusionary copies brought by double team.
The clones being able to copy your own moves and attack is also super useful here for being more flashier.
I kinda regretted not using double team more at my battle with Wallace. The sight of pysbeam's light reflecting off the water would have been more beautiful.
Although the clones probably wouldn't last long because a single attack can just make them vanish, weak or not and water types are known to have a lot of moves that can cover a big area. They would disappear in just one attack.
"Nice job! Let's take a rest for a moment" I said and a feeling of relief washed over me and a mixture of satisfaction.
It felt weird receiving a positive emotion from Ralts after being injected by a whole lot of anger.
Ralts made his clones disappear and went towards a bench placed in a corner, I followed after him and sat on the bench while handing Ralts some water and a towel.
I took that moment of rest to watch some videos about other people performing in contests.
Flashy moves are what it's all about.
Moves like aurora beam, hyper beam, dazzling gleam, fire blast and the literal flashy move, flash.
You can also use a dull move like stun pore and make them into something amazing by using it along with a move like flash for example.
Flash would illuminate everything around the user and if you scattered some stun pores before you use flash, you can create a beautiful scene of shining dust that looked like tiny stars.
Everyone's performs so different. The style they use, how they get the audience excited and their choice of pokemon.
It's all so complicated and I fear the receptionist at the Contest hall didn't give me the full explanation
That wasn't much of a problem though, it just made things more fun
