Fated Mates

*Evans POV*

Despite reaching out to Anabelle, Evan was unhappy with the attention his mother was giving her. Before Anabelle arrived, Evan was the star in his mother's life. Now all she talked about was her daughter and how she can pass her wisdom as a past Luna onto her. He needed to do something about this. He was the son of an Alpha, he should be who everyone was concerned about, not her. He should never have reached out to her, she ruined everything.

*Anabelle's POV*

The week following moving to the Dark Wood pack wasn't as Anabelle imagined it would be. Her mother was cold at first but grew to dote on her every move. It was beginning to get annoying. She was used to her alone time, walking Casey, but now every time she tried to go for a walk, Geraldine followed her.

Anabelle appreciated her mother taking an interest, but it felt off. She suspected her mother wanted something from her, but she wasn't sure what that was. She had decided to wait and see if an opportunity presented itself to figure it out.

She was walking past the packhouse mulling it all over when she caught a scent that smelled heavenly. Her nose was filled with the beautiful smell of fresh pine wood and cologne. She couldn't see anyone, so she continued her way home, feeling dejected the further she went from the scent.

She arrived at her mother's house to find her mood deflated. She wandered to the kitchen to make something to eat and found Evan at the counter with a grimace on his face." what's up Evo?" she asked him. "wouldn't you like to know" he scowled. Confused she stared at him and shook it off. Not her business she thought. "Why must you be the center of attention? I was the one who rescued you from dad and ever since all you've done is make everything about you. Mom used to spend every day with me and now all she wants to do is be around you".

Anabelle didn't know what to say. She didn't want to be the center of attention she just wanted to be accepted and safe. She felt the tears spring to her eyes, and she ran out of the house and shifted. She stood there in complete shock in wolf form and padded over to a river. She gazed into the river and saw her beautiful snowy white wolf Lily looking back at her. She felt so content that she got her wolf back.

She turned around and ran through the forest on the pack grounds. She had never felt so free in her life before. She ran for hours and hours and chased the squirrels and rabbits in the forest. When she was exhausted from the run she ran back to the house and shifted back and grabbed a jacket hanging on the porch. She raced up to her room and put on one of her new outfits.

She enjoyed the run so much; she had forgotten about the awful encounter she had with Evan in the kitchen. She had even forgotten about the scent she picked up on earlier. Just then she heard a knock on her bedroom door. when she opened it, she found Beta Daniel standing outside in the hallway.

"The Alpha has requested your presence in the packhouse for a meeting" he stated. "Okay coming", she replied. She grabbed her bag and coat and followed the beta to the packhouse. On the way, she looked around and noticed how much nicer the pack grounds here were compared to the grounds in Blue Moon.

Here there were flowers, parks, benches, and families milling around playing. In Blue Moon, the grass was dying, there were no flowers or benches and people only gathered in the training area to train. They arrived at the packhouse, and she followed Beta Daniel to the Alpha's office. He knocked on the door and waited for the Alpha to reply. "Come in" they heard.

The pair entered the room and Kayden met Anabelle's eyes instantly. "Mine" he growled. Anabelle didn't know what he meant but she felt something inside her click into place and right at that moment Lily growled "mate". Anabelle was in shock; the Alpha was her mate!

She began to panic, what if he was like her father or worse her biological father. She began to hyperventilate which caused Daniel and Kayden to panic. "What's your name?" Kayden asked. "A…A…Anabelle" she panted.
