Ice Cream Recruitment

I drove to the Dairy Queen in the big city which is about 40 mins away so Rosie will have enough time to deal with whatever she has going on.

When we finally got to the cashier we had already decided what we wanted. Minna wanted a Oreo blizzard Kyla wanted a vanilla cone and I also wanted a blizzard but a strawberry cheesecake one.

After I paid and we got our ice creams we sat down and ate our delicious, cold and creamy treat.

Just before we were done the bell went off notifying the staff and us that a new customer had entered the establishment. A human guy who looked to be around twenty years old in a black hoodie with the hood up to be almost exact.

The guy went to the counter and ordered what he wanted which was two meals then sat at the table opposite of us then proceeded to scan Kyla and I as if he was assessing us. The man then asked us to watch his food while he went to the restroom/washroom I nodded my head and said "sure.:"

The guy walked away pulling his phone out of his pocket as well. I kept my hearing sharp and focused. Listening to the human and just as I suspected made a phone call.

~The human guys phone call~

Guy: I think I found her.

???: Are you sure?

Guy: Not positive but she looks like the picture though. Only differences are she looks older has her hair dyed pink and is dressed emo and edgy.

???: Hang up the phone. I'll text you.

~Call ended~

~Text conversation~

(human guy's P.O.V.)

Guy: Why'd you wanna text instead of talk on the phone.

???: If she is who we think she is. She could have been listening.

Guy: Oh, got it.

???: How did you even find her?

Guy: I was hungry so I went to DQ and she was just sitting there with a little girl and a friend eating ice cream!

???: Wow, and I thought you had actually searched for her. Did you even try to find her two days ago like i told you too?

guy: Nope!

???: Whatever. Try and talk to her. Act like you would like to recruit her. Write down my number and our address then give it to her. Hopefully she will come to us. I don't want to abduct her

Guy: K, got it man.

~END OF TEXT CONVERSATION~

(Iris's P.O.V.)

The man on the other end of the call hung up and I assume they started texting each other.

About ten minutes later the man walked back and sat down at his table and said thanks to me for watching his food then proceeded to ask me questions and try and recruit me for some kind of agency thingy.

"Our agency is called the multiple agency. by multiple I mean multiple ability, race, gender and species. Our agency accepts nearly everyone. Its basically a diverse pack in your case" He threw his recruitment pitch at me

The guy then asked. "Would you mind if I ask you a few questions?"

"I guess." I shrugged

"How physically strong are you on a scale of one to ten?"

"Mmmm.... like a 6 if its on a werewolf strength scale." i said.

"Have you come of shifting and or mating age yet?"

"Not that it's any of your business. But no I have not come of that age yet. If you had asked me that tomorrow I would have said yes." I said annoyed.

"Okay so..." The guy started but was interrupted by Minna.

"Can we go home now? I'm done eating my ice cream." Minna said tiredly she must have had a long day at kindergarten.

I turned back to the guy and said. " Sorry umm... What was your name again?"

"Jake Russell" he replied.

"Sorry "Jake Russell" but I have to leave I'm currently babysitting for my Luna."

"alright." He said.

"Would you mind taking my leader's number and the address of our agency?" He asked.

"I suppose that would be alright." I responded.

He took a napkin and wrote the information on it then handed it to me. I said. "thanks"

We then began cleaning up our mess and threw out our garbage. Then picked up Minna and put her on my hip and began walking for the exit but not before waving a saying goodbye to Jake.

He waved and said. "Bye ladies."

I unlocked the car and put a now drowsy Minnie Mouse in the car seat. Then got into the passenger side of the car since Kyla was already in the driver's seat. guess she decided she was driving.

It was around seven thirty when we reached the Alpha and Luna's house I got out of the passenger seat and picked up a still sleeping Minna in my arms and walked up to the door with Kyla by my side.

Kyla knocked on the door since I had my arms full.

Luna Rosie came to answer the door in a long sleeve turtleneck.

"Hi Rosie." i smiled

"Hey dear." She said in an exhausted voice.

"Rosie, are you alright?" I asked full of concern.

Rosie looked at her daughter sleeping in my arms. Her lips moved into a small sad smile.

"oh, don't worry dear I'm okay just a little tired is all." She spoke softly.

I gave her a sad smile as Minna cuddled closer to my chest.

Are you sure you're ok Rosie? I asked

"I'm okay sweetie. but can you please take care of Minna for me. keep her with you for awhile at your house. please?"

"sure Rosie, but if you don't mind me asking. why and for how long?"

"I can't tell you why all I can bring myself to say is you will find out tomorrow. as for how long I don't really know dear." She said in a sad tone of voice.

"Are you sure about this Rosie? I've never taken care of Minna for more than a night and a day." I stated with worry.

"Yes dear I know for a fact that you are capable of taking care of Minna."
