Reverberations from the past.

"What do you see when you look at me?" Vanessa asked, as she stared tearily at Raymond. "Broken? Hurt? Mad? Dangerous?" "Vanessa. That's all I see. I see you, Vanessa" Raymond replied shortly, as he bent on his knees to caress her cheeks. "A vulnerable Vanessa?" she asked "No. I see Vanessa, a woman struggling to make things right" he replied honestly. "I'm sorry I dragged you into this. I'm so sorry" she said almost in a whisper, but he heard her due to their close proximity. "You didn't do anything wrong. I should be apologizing instead. Vanessa, I..." "Stop, Raymond! Just don't. I can't even look you in the eyes" she said as she looked down. "You lost almost everything because of me. I'd understand if you blame me. But please don't apologize to me" she said as she wept uncontrollably. Raymond pulled her into his arms, kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly. "I'd never blame you, Vanessa. Never" "Raymond, can we start all over again when all these end?" "No..." ***** Aida grew up in a lovely home, with mother out of the picture. Chapter 23 Hurt Feelings

"What? Knew what?" Samuel asked pathetically.

"I was right. You were blinded by your feelings for her. I have been here for barely a day and i can see through everything, yet, you're clueless. It's sucks, Sam. It does!" Arnold replied visibly agitated.

"See what?!" Samuel asked frustratingly.

"That she's using you!" Arnold yelled angrily.

"No, I...I think y... you..." Samuel stammered, struggling to complete his sentence.

"Sam, you need to believe it. That's the truth!" Arnold retorted as he looked at Samuel who clenched his fists out of frustration and pain. There was nothing he could do to ease his pain. It was best for Samuel to face the truth wholeheartedly than feign ignorance. Arnold knew Samuel wasn't completely ignorant about the fact that he was being used. He knew somewhere in Samuel's heart he was waiting for Ophelia to change, to open up to him, to accept him, to love him. But things weren't going as he planned. Before he could think of anything to ease Samuel's pain, he heard Ciara's and Cindy's voices behind his door. He pulled Samuel to the study in his room and locked the door hurriedly to prevent the ladies from seeing the current situation. Samuel sat on a chair in the study with a blank expression. Arnold leaned against the table next the chair Samuel sat on. The study was filled with silence, the only sound that could be heard was the warm giggling of the twins. When they entered the room, their giggling had stopped and it seemed one was irked. Somehow, their conversation made Samuel clench his fist more and shift uncomfortably in the chair. Arnold saw how uneasy Samuel felt and tapped Samuel's shoulders assuringly. Even though, it was not enough to totally expel those weird feelings, Samuel relaxed.

"I don't know what Samuel saw in Ophelia. That girl's such a pain in the ass!" Cindy said obviously annoyed.

"Are you jealous?" Ciara teased.

"Jealous of what? That stupid ugly girl?" Cindy asked visibly flabbergasted with the question.

"Maybe you're jealous she found love, while your heart still remains a virgin" Ciara jokes which irked Cindy more.

"I'm never jealous of her. I only pity Samuel!" Cindy retorted.

"Oh! Does it mean you like Samuel?" Ciara continued to tease.

"Shut the f**k up, Ciara! Just stop irking me more, and just change the sheets. That's why we here!" Cindy replied more pissed. Ciara removed the comforter covering the bed to reveal the stained sheet.

"Oh my! No wonder he came rushing to my room looking and sounding so terrified. That's a lot of blood" Ciara said as she pulled the sheets.

"Yh, that's a lot of blood. I'm beginning to doubt something. Ciara, are you sure that's not the signal" Cindy asked, smiling, totally happy and ready to get back at Ciara for making her fume.

"What signal?" Ciara asked and sighed in relief when she saw the macintosh covering the bed. It would have been a lot of work if she had stained the mattress. She began to remove the faint blood stain on the macintosh with an alcohol wipe.

"Well, the signal that you lost your hymen to..." Cindy stressed.

Soon, it was Ciara's turn to be irked. Cindy smiled victoriously when she saw how her plan had worked out.

"Shut up!" Ciara shouted angrily and threw the stained sheet on the floor. "We didn't do anything"

"I beli..iii..eve you" Cindy stressed to make Ciara uncomfortable.

Ciara knew what Cindy was up to and decided to remain silent instead of replying her. Ciara opened Arnold's locker, took a new, clean sheet and walked towards the bed. She spread the sheet only for something to drop.

"What's that?" Cindy asked as she bent to pick it up. "A condom?!"
