Revenge of the Fallen (en)

After humanity almost destroyed its own planet, Earth, people decided that it may be better to let her recover and move somewhere else. Scientists had already found new planets where living could be possible so they flew there. They've built first cities as they settled down there and limited living only to the cities so the new planets wouldn't get destroyed as the old one. Rayne lost her family, not knowing why, although she probably deep down suspected that something bad had happened as her grandmother really never told her about their family. One day, her brother found her and together they are trying to find the people because of whom they didn't know each other until now and didn't have family.

Crazy ex

Suddenly the doorbell rang, so this time I threw a questioning look at Damien. However, the look on his face told me that even he had no idea who was ringing his apartment. I wanted to tell him to do his self-opening magic, but then I thought, what if there was a... killer. Probably not, but it wouldn't be reliable.

The brunette guy at the kitchen counter looked thoughtful, to which he threw a questioning look at me: "Will you go there?"

I glanced in the direction where the front door was. I didn´t want to. What if the girl with the angry wife vibes was standing there? That would be annoying to deal with. But maybe then Damien will give me the food he just cooked that smelled so good. So I sighed and finally got up, whereupon I went off to find out who was ringing the bell.

At my destination, I ran my fingers over the display, which showed an unfamiliar face of a man standing outside Damien's apartment. I furrowed my brows and called out to the named person: "There's a guy!"

"Ask what he wants!"

Before I clicked on the display again, there was another ring, to which I grunted unenthusiastically and spoke through that door thing to the black haired person outside: "Yes?"

However, there was no answer to my question. Instead, an unkind expression appeared on the stranger's face. My words were probably not what he wanted to hear. And so with a sigh I opened the door with my hand resting on the furs: "Can I help you somehow?"

The stranger scanned me from head to toe before looking into my eyes, which showed nothing friendly. However, he still didn't give me an answer, so I kindly wanted to send him away. But I was surprised by his next gesture, when he pushed me aside and burst into the apartment.

Confused, with a raised eyebrow, I turned to the figure in a classy suit, who kicked off his shoes and flew like a large water more into the bowels of Damien's apartment, whom he must have seen in the kitchen area, because he soon stopped. The stranger seemed to think for a moment about what to say.

I let the door close and followed the black-haired person, who gave me another of those unkind looks, after which he looked in Damien's direction again and uttered the first words: "You shouldn't hang out with people like these."

I furrowed my brows at his words and took a few more steps, upon which I caught a glimpse of the brunette guy at the kitchen counter, who was looking rather unenthusiastically at the unexcited guest. With a sigh, he leaned his hands on the counter: "Get out."

I felt like I was in the middle of some TV drama. It really wasn't something I wanted to be a part of. However, something stuck in my mind. Such people? The stranger obviously didn´t love the poorer people. But he shouldn not tell - I wasn't wearing my clothes, after all. Does my face tell him something or what?

"Dam..."

I blinked a couple of times at the address I had just heard, to which I glanced at Damien, who frowned: "You're not welcomed here. You know where the door is."

With that last word, the brunette guy turned around in the kitchen and went back to his previous activity. However, the intruder still stood his ground. And so I decided to rub it in a little, to which I walked towards him and stood up so that I was facing him.

"You heard."

"Are you seriously stooping to this level?" the stranger asked Damien, pretending not to see me.

A bang sounded from the kitchen, making me turn in surprise to look at Damien. Who after a while turned towards us again: "I can be friends, go out with and sleep with whoever I want. And it's long over between us, so accept it and get out."

Oh. I stood still like a pillar of salt, wondering how I managed to get in the middle of some kind of quarrel between former lovers. Really unpleasant thing. I wanted to disappear from the scene, but instead, Damien just spoke again:

"Rayne, please."

I raised my eyebrows incomprehension, but immediately realized what he was asking me to do. He wanted me to take out the intruder like a security guard. It was quite unpleasant to hear but challenging at the same time - that annoying guy deserved no good treatment. And so, I turned to the nameless man and nodded my head towards the front door: "You know where the exit is. Or you need help?"

There was a disapproving grunt from the black-haired person, to which he made his way to the door with a thunderous aura, which he didn't leave even when I came closer. Instead, he turned to me with a hateful look on his face: "I'll show you who are you dealin´ with."

When there were only two of us in the space of the large apartment again, I had to think about the nameless person. I met a crazy ex who even threatened me. And I had nothing to do with it. Almost.

I made my way back to the kitchen, where I sat back down on the bar stool and focused my gaze on the figure currently with his back turned to me, who had gone back to his previous activity. But since I couldn't see anything, I turned my gaze to the glass wall. The view outside was really pleasant and after the scene a while ago, even calming.

"Rayne," I heard after a moment, to which I shifted my gaze back to Damien, who was now holding some kind of bowl of food in his hands, which he had placed on the bar counter, where the cutlery was already laid out.

I curiously looked into the bowl made of some kind of metal, where there were yellowish rice, vegetables and some small creatures. I raised my eyebrows and wanted to ask what it was, but Damien must have realized that I didn't know the dish because he laughed and said: "It's paella."

"Ah..." I blurted out, to which I picked up the fork and decided to find out more.

Meanwhile, Damien was doing nothing. He was just watching me and probably waiting for my reaction. Most of my life, I only ate simple foods like noodles, boiled eggs or fried rice, so I had no idea what those strange things were in the bowl.

I scooped up some food on my plate with a few of those things. They weren't all the same, but they didn't look like vegetables. I had some of that rice with vegetables, which was extremely and surprisingly good. I had no idea Damien could cook so well. Or even. Subsequently, I started poking a bit with the fork into those little stupid things.

"What is this?" I decided to ask after a moment, to which I looked up at the brunette guy and met his gaze. He seemed to be watching me the whole time.

"Seafood," he explained, to which he continued, "But the earthling ones are really exclusive, this is only from the seas of Tierradel."

After his word he reached for my plate, which he picked up, placed it in front of him, and began to peel that things. Curious, I folded my hands on the table and watched the person across from me. At first I really watched his current activity, but then I noticed the strange expression on his face. I thought for a while whether to ask or not, since I probably wasn't the best therapist, but in the end I did:

"Are you okay?"

Damien looked up at me with a strange look, but he immediately returned to the seafood he was peeling: "Did he tell you something?"

I furrowed my brows and remembered the last words from the unknown stranger. But I shook my head in response: "No. Why?"

Damien sighed, "I didn't break-up with Nicolas on good terms. Watch out for him."

I nodded in understanding and began to wonder what kind of person that Nicolas could be. Of course, everyone from up here thought they owned the world and that everyone would bow down to them, but when Damien warned me, he probably wasn't a good person.

However, I didn't learn much else, as I got my plate back with a persuasive look on curly face to try the things whose exact names I didn't know. So, with a chuckle, I began to eat, to which I enthusiastically looked up at the rich man across from me. My reaction made the person across laugh, but I got over it because the food was really good.
