As Daemon stared up at the helicopter looming above, its rotors slicing through the air with a deafening roar, the world seemed to slow down, Detective Adrian who was on the minigun mounted on its side began to whine his gaze fixed on Daemon with a grim of determination as a mechanical growl that cut through the storm.
Each whirr of the gun was like the growl of a beast ready to devour, and Daemon could feel the vibration of its power through the soles of his boots.
The hundred of bullets that were coming toward Daemon landed cleanly on him multiple immediately ripped throughout his his body while he deafening rattle of the minigun was punctuated by the sharp cracks of bullets ricocheting off the concrete rooftop, sending shards of debris skittering in every direction.
Still despite his strengthen body those bullets slowly destroyed his body even his harden bones he slowly felt his body weaking and loss of blood, pain surged through him as his blood spilled onto the shattered rooftop. His vision blurred, and the world tilted precariously as his Tenebris Lacerna rose up, forming a large wall in front of him to block the oncoming bullets
Causing the force of the bullets that missed him still managed to shake the rooftop, cracking the concrete and causing chunks to tumble down into the streets below.
The Broker can't escape. Not now. Not after all this. But the helicopter it's too much. I can't keep this up much longer. My strength is fading... Why did I let things get so out of hand?
Daemon dropped down on one knee, weak and exhausted. He felt it was his chance to catch a breather, still he could barely think straight over the roaring noise and the relentless pain that clawed at his consciousness.
Daemon clutched his side, wincing in pain as he tries to steady his breathing, his eyes dart around frantically, and back is hunched. 'I can't keep this up forever. If I don't get out of here, I'll be dead before I can even think about facing the Broker again.' he thought.
Then he looked down at His hands were slick with blood and sweat as he tried to steady himself ,he also he remembered that before his fight with the Broker he told detective Adrian to get the helicopter ready.
The reason why Detective Adrian was involved in the cartel was because his master had once been a spy, working from the shadows to gather information that would aid in the fight against all corrupt orgs in the world that he often accompanied his master on missions, learning the ropes.
Everything changed when the government turned against Adrian's master. Accusations of corruption and betrayal were levied against him, orchestrated by unseen hands that sought to silence a man who knew too much. Despite the lack of concrete evidence, the government executed him, labeling him a traitor to the state. Adrian was devastated, his world shattered by the loss of his mentor and the realization that those they served could turn on them so easily.
Daemon now that he had a couple seconds to collect himself his expression turned serious as he looked around. 'I to weak to continue fighting...the broker cant die...heli cant be destroyed...escape' he thought.
While Daemon was lost in his thoughts, he failed to notice that his Tenebris Lacerna was gradually weakening. After withstanding the impact of two hundred bullets simultaneously, and with the police combing through the building below, the constant gunfire and rising panic made them more cautious of an ambush. Daemon heard the sounds of chaos growing closer, but by the time he realized his protection had faltered, it was too late.
When Daemon realized that his Tenebris Lacerna had failed, it was already too late the bullets were once again closing in on him. At that moment, a deep growl rumbled from behind, resonating with a primal force that seemed to reach his very soul, out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a five-foot-tall, jet-black dog with fiery cracks in its skin dashing past him, leaving afterimages in its wake as bullets bounced harmlessly off its body.
'He quickly realized it was the broker...a Trinfernus' Daemon thought.
Daemon's eyes followed the broker with intense focus. As Detective Adrian ceased firing, Daemon watched the broker make a daring leap from the edge of the roof, using his four legs to propel himself toward the helicopter, While the Broker was midair Daemon recalled a newfound ability he had acquired in the Obsidian Hollow that could assist him now.
His gaze sharpened as his right eye transformed dramatically. The pupil shifted into a dark crimson slit, encircled by glowing silver sigils etched into the iris. Veins extended from the iris, branching out into the smoky gray sclera, enhancing his vision and perception.
"Death Mark" Daemon whisper softy but ominously
As Daemon whispered, the broker landed on the helicopter with Detective Adrian. Daemon's eyes began to bleed, crimson droplets streaming down his face. He stared intently at the retreating helicopter, feeling the weight of his exhaustion and the toll of his injuries.
With a grim sense of acceptance, he examined his own body, where a new skull mark had appeared a death mark. This mark signified the beginning of a countdown, varying in duration depending on the threat level and strength of the marked individual, ranging from minutes to days, despite the pain, Daemon felt a flicker of satisfaction. The mark granted him the ability to track the broker over long distances, it was a small comfort in his current state.
Daemon watched as helicopter slowly flew back carrying the broker away, who had a with a relaxed smug relaxed posture as he waved his hand dismissively at Daemon. "You think you're a threat to me? Please. Enjoy your fall, Daemon. By the time you're back on your feet, I'll be miles away, and your little vendetta will be nothing more than a fleeting thought!" the broker said arrogantly with a final chuckled.
Daemon's eyes narrow into fierce slits, his jaw clenched tightly, his grips tighten on the debris on the ground. 'You think you're so untouchable, Broker? This isn't over. I'll track you down and make you pay for this. No matter how high you fly or how far you run, I'll find you.' he thought.
As the helicopter vanished from Daemon view, an overwhelming wave of exhaustion hit him, his strength ebbed away rapidly, his legs give out, and he collapses onto the ground with a heavy thud. His body crumples in a heap, his chest heaving with labored breaths, his head hanged low, eyes closing as he struggles to keep himself conscious. His limbs are splayed out weakly, and his entire frame shook with the effort of staying upright. The death mark had drained half of his Nyx energy, and he was left with little more than the remnants of his power from the previous fight.
"Ahh...I got leave now Adriana should almost be already here" Daemon said painfully.
Now that Daemon ear was pressed against the ground on the ground, he heard a series of loud, rhythmic beeps coming from various locations. The sound was jarring and disorienting, causing him to gasp in shock, his mind raced as he tried to process the reality of the situation he couldn't believe what he was hearing. The beeps suggested a network of timed devices, and the realization hit him with a cold dread.
'There bombs...he really about to destroy a part of there org' Daemon thought.
Daemon pushed aside thoughts of why the brokers were willing to destroy the entire auction house. There was no time for speculation his priority was escaping the building, while he also though this is it. I'm barely holding on. Adriana should be on her way, but will she make it in time? Will she even know about the bombs?
Daemon struggled to push himself up, his hands slipping on the slick, blood-streaked ground and his arms feeling weak. After several attempts, he finally managed to hoist himself upright. Slowly, he limped toward the edge of the roof. As he looked down, he saw a chaotic scene below: constant flashes of light from emergency sirens and the approaching fire trucks weaving through the smoke and debris.
'So she knows' Daemon thought.
Daemon's expression turned serious as he assessed the situation. He had no clear idea of how far he still had to fall, and the ticking time bomb of the explosions below added to his urgency. With the sound of the detonations growing louder and more frequent, he knew he had to act quickly to find a way out of this situation.
I don't have much time. This fall how far will I drop? I don't know if I'll survive. My energy is spent, my body is failing. I need a miracle.
Daemon let himself fall, hoping that he might find a way to catch himself in the last moments. As he descended, the wind battered against him, but his Tenebris Lacerna shielded him, easing the impact. With his body still trembling from the aftershocks of the death mark, he took a deep breath, bracing himself.
Suddenly, a soft pressure against his back startled him, causing his eyes to widen in surprise, and his body goes rigid for a moment as he feels the unexpected pressure on his back, his head whipped around to look at the girl, his eyebrows shooting up in disbelief, to find a beautiful girl clinging to him, her arms and legs wrapped securely around his body. Her presence was unexpected, and her touch brought a strange contrast to the chaos surrounding him.
Daemon flinched and twisted his torso to look at the girl, as he tried to push her away with one arm while bracing himself with the other. "What the hell are you doing? Get off me!" he shouted instead of letting go she clutched him more desperately, her body pressing close to her.
Daemon after a couple of seconds, his relief turned to frustration as the initial impact from his Tenebris Lacerna failed to fully stabilize him. Just as he was about to shout in alarm, a series of massive explosions erupted from both the bottom and top of the structure. Debris and fiery fragments launched toward him, threatening to engulf him.
'This is not the time for surprises. I need to focus on landing safely and figuring out how to get out of this mess. Whoever this girl is, she's making things more complicated.' Daemon thought.
Daemon's eyes widened in relief as he felt the protective shield of his Tenebris Lacerna enveloping him. Yet, as he refocused on the dizzying rush of the free fall, he realized with growing alarm that the explosion had hastened his descent, bringing him dangerously close to the ground faster than he had anticipated.
Daemon's eyes darted around, his mind racing to find a safe landing spot. "I don't know if I can survive this fall," he thought grimly, locking onto a car below that seemed to offer the only potential for a soft landing.
