Chapter 7

"Bing"

"The boss has arrived"

I debated whether to try and kill the rest of the orcs or go straight for the boss. In the end, I decided to kill the remainder of the orcs first.

I stuck into the tent nearest me, all the while keeping one eye on the commander's tent. I quietly killed the orc then took the sword lying beside him.

After I finished off the rest orcs I made my way towards the tent. When I was about ten metres away from it I heard a roar and the orc boss came charging out the door.

I hastily jumped to the side and the boss went barreling past me straight into a tent. I heard his grunts as he struggled to disentangle himself from the cloth.

I stayed where I was waiting for the boss to get free then charge at me again. I didn't have to wait long and soon the boss was standing there his eyes locked on me.

He grunted, pulled the sword off his back and started slowly walking towards me. I took a deep breath and ducked under the first swing.

I came back up and parried the second, I thrust towards his chest to see if I could damage the armour. Instead of going straight through or even scraping it like I thought it would it bounced off sending painfully vibrations up my arm.

He kicked the outside of my leg and I went down on one knee. I brought the sword up to block a strike towards my head and the sword cracked.

I pushed the sword to the side sending him off balance. I quickly got back to my feet and composed myself.

He walked towards me, his sword swinging. He twirled and aimed for my head. I moved to the side and the blade missed me by millimetres. I quickly went to try and cut his arm. Just before the sword reached him, I slipped and narrowly avoided the counter-attack.

I desperately scrambled backwards as the sword sunk into the ground in front of me. I got back to my feet and moved back a few metres. I looked at the ground and saw a blood trail going under my feet.

I felt a sharp pain on my side and felt around with my hand. It felt sticky and wet. I brought it back up and gasped. It was covered in dark blood. I looked down at my side and saw blood furiously pumping out of my side.

I forgot about the orc boss momentarily and tried to staunch the bleeding. Despite my best efforts blood still came pumping out from between my fingers.

I felt a tingle go down my spine and threw myself to the side. I landed on my bad side and I grunted in pain. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the boss take his sword out of the ground and approach me.

I struggled to my feet, my vision blurring. I sluggish brought my arm up to block the swing. The blow hit my sword and sent it clattering out of my hand.

I barely ducked under the next swing and tried to punch him but my arm just thumped against his armour, not doing any real damage.

He used his other arm and backhanded me, sending me flying. I hit the ground and a jolt of pain went through my body. I rolled to the side and the orcs fist came crashing down where my head was a second ago.

I kicked him in the face and he moved back a few steps. I got back to my feet, ready to charge at him while he was distracted.

I ran and crashed into him sending us both to the ground. I started to pummel his face with my fists but it wasn't doing anything.

After a few seconds of the orc just sitting there and taking it, he caught my fist in his hand and snapped it. I grunted and started to hit him harder with my other hand.

He let go of my hand and drove his fist through my chest. I screamed and headbutted him, denting his helmet.

He made a weird symbol with his hand and I was blasted backwards. I landed on the ground and rolled backwards.

I scrambled to my feet only to get punched in the face and blasted backwards again. I brought my hand up in a feeble attempt to stop his punch and I screamed as his fist connected.

I made one last attempt to push him off and rolled to the side. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my sword. I grabbed it and parried at swing towards my chest.

I sprung back to my feet, ready to capitalise on this opportunity. I jabbed the sword towards his chest, waiting for the sound of it going straight through his chest.

Instead, all I heard was a cracking sound as the sword shattered against his chest plate. He looked down at his chest, the shattered sword on the ground then at me.

"Fuck"

He stabbed and I just managed to twist to the side. The sword went through the side of my chest as opposed to my heart.

I tried to move but I was still impaled by the sword. He punched my chest breaking some bones. I was pushed backwards and crumpled to the ground.

He slowly walked over and I tried to get up but couldn't move. I saw the blood pumping out of the many wounds and the boss relatively unscathed.

He reached me and smiled. He lifted his sword up and brought it down.
