Willing to Risk it..

Hayley

Damian was soft, a little too soft perhaps. His strength was undeniable, but it was clear he only acted when things had become too much to neglect. The same wasn't applicable to me, handling problems immediately was a crucial part of survival when you've lived as a slave since the day you were born. Damian and Ethan were clearly undermining the dangers before them, and it was driving me crazy bit by bit.

"What are you going to do about Diamond pack?" I asked a second time as Damian escorted me to my room. I wanted to be certain that he was willing to take action, but once again a cloud of indecisiveness had taken over his expression.

"I don't want to be harsh with my judgment, so I've sent a letter out to Alpha Zion and his father inviting them to discuss the current situation." Damian answered before reaching out to push the bedroom door open for me.

I stared at him in awe and disbelief. "You want to discuss it with them? They've declared for the enemy, do you think they'd want to be a mile near you?" I returned out of genuine curiosity. Zion could be a scatterbrain sometimes, but he was definitely smart enough to avoid his enemies. There was no way he was going to honor the invitation, especially not when he was certain now that Damian was leagues above him in terms of strength.

"I understand your concern, Hayley, trust me I do. But the information we've received is yet to be confirmed. Taking rash actions over a report that could be false would not help us one bit." Damian replied, but deep down I was certain he knew this news couldn't possibly be false. After what had happened that day, I was certain that Zion hated Damian more than anything, and if helping Conrad take back the throne was the only way he could spite Damian, Zion would definitely take that chance.

"No you don't understand my concerns, Damian, and you don't want to listen. Those people are evil, all they do is hurt people. They're doing this because they don't want me to ever be happy. He's doing all of this because they despise me, can't you see that?!" I complained with tears in my eyes. I had promised myself not to cry because of Zion and anything related to him, but this was just extreme.

None of this would be happening if it wasn't for me, Conrad wouldn't have Diamond Pack's support if Damian hadn't claimed me as his mate. It was as though the world was against me, and all I ever did was bring pain with me.

"What would you have me do, Hayley? What should I do to protect your happiness?" Damian asked as he reached for me. He pulled me into his warmth, and slowly wiped the tears on my cheeks with his thumb. He was angry, and seeing that anger grow was what I wanted more than anything at the moment. I wanted him to despise those people that have hurt his wife, I wanted him to loathe them.

I sniffled back tears, unsure if I should air my opinion. I wasn't the type of person who encouraged violence, but right now I wanted nothing more than to see Zion and the entire royal family suffer.

"I want you to make them pay for what they did to me. I want them to feel the same pain I felt all those years." I replied with darkness in my eyes. The air in the room changed in a bit, and was immediately replaced with a feeling of intense bloodlust. I felt Damian tremble slightly from the chill in the air, and at the same time I had become shocked by how much darkness was inside of me. This was all the hate I had been bottling up ever since I was born, all of it was slowly beginning to leak out, and it was terrifying.

Damian held me tighter, the purpose of the hug was to comfort me more than ever. He could tell I was angry, and he wanted to take away that hate and anger with his love.

"I'm sorry for everything those people have put you through, and I'm sorry for not coming to save you quick enough. I know they've hurt you, and I understand your pain, but I don't want you to become like those people."

His voice was soft, and his words were touching, but it wasn't enough. As expected, Damian was soft. If I was going to do anything about Zion, I had to do it myself. Damian had his own battle, and involving him in mine had probably been a mistake.

"Thank you.." I whispered before feigning a bright smile. Convinced, Damian planted a kiss on my lips before promising to be back in a couple of minutes.

Frustrated, I slammed my fist into the wall, but soon came to regret that decision. Clutching my fist in pain, I let out a muffled scream before turning around swiftly to meet the intruder that had just appeared in my room.

"Miranda?!" I called out, surprised to see her here. She had seen me venting out my anger, and was clearly mocking me with the smile on her face, but that really didn't matter to me. She had come at the right time, and I couldn't be more grateful for her presence.

"Do you need me to heal your hand, my lady—" she paused abruptly, breathed in, and then proceeded to correct herself. "Do you need me to heal your hand, Hayley?" She asked, but I had a better idea.

"Why don't you teach me how to do it myself? Teach me magic Miranda!" I demanded, my desperation obvious from my voice. Miranda was stunned by the eagerness in my tone, but she didn't really complain. I waited for her to warn me about the dangers of learning magic, but she didn't. It was a bit wild to me that she wouldn't tell me such important information, but I really didn't care at the moment. Risk or not, I was willing to learn magic, and I couldn't care less about the repercussions.
