A Treasonous Act

"What do you think you're doing putting a death target on Damian?! This wasn't part of the plan, you can't do this!" Miranda thundered as she walked into my chambers. I had been expecting this outburst a lot sooner, but it seemed she had taken some time to convince herself that she wasn't a traitor to the crown.

"He's a threat to me, and both of us know it. I needed to do something about him." I replied while I steadily rose from where I sat to comfort the visibly enraged woman before me.

"You said you'd let him stay in the Kingdom. The plan was that you'd keep him here and get rid of that girl. So what's all of this? Why is she alive, and why is Damian the one with a target on his back?!" Miranda raged. The air around her seemed to have caught friction with her emotions, and had darkened as she took steps closer to me.
