a broken system?

The next morning.

I went outside to relax a little. 'Why does this world have a sun, and two moons?' The sun was rising.

'Anyway, I'll have to prepare a little.' I thought about all "magical" skills. 'First.' I took out my bow, and dagger. 'Also leftover meat.'

*Creeak!* 'Holy cows, what a loud door.' Christine woke up. "Good morning." I said. "Yeah." She nodded.

"So let's make a contract." I said. "I've heard that before, but I don't understand." She said while scratching her head.

'Oh.' "Let's call it a trade. I give you something, and you give me something." She nodded.

After that I explained. "Your gonna get a system that's "broken". I don't know what it means but do you want it"? I asked. "Yes"! She instantly answered. 'of course.' "The deal is I give you that, and you simply have to sign this".

I handed her a piece of shinning paper. "How do you write?" She asked. 'Oh, that's upsetting.' I told her how to write her own name for a good sixteen minutes.

Then she was ready. "Will you do it?" I asked. "Yes!" She quickly signed the paper, and it started glowing. 'That was ten coins gone.'

"Wow." She said, then it rushed towards Christine. "Woaahh!" She quickly ducked, but she couldn't dodge it.

"Calm down. It's gone." I said. "You betrayed me!" 'Wait.' Then she started throwing a tantrum. "Why why! What did I do!?" 'If someone hears this.' I made a barrier of mana as fast as possible, then tried to calm her down.

'This took 10 minutes.' Now she was sitting on the ground looking sad. "Have you tried sweets?" I asked. She shook her head. "Where we're going there are sweets." I said while patting her head.

"How old do I look?" Christine asked. "You look about twelve and fifteen at most." I said. Then she made a shocked expression. 'What? Is she worried about her age?'

My thoughts went away when I heard a door. "Good morning Joseph." Brendon walked out. "What happened?" He asked. "She threw a small tantrum." I said while pointing at her.

I saw the messages. 'What happened.' I collapsed. I was still conscious but my body felt heavy. "Joseph!" "Haha, I guess I rely too much on skills ."

I tried to get up. 'I feel weird.' This time I wasn't just heavy. "Joseph he* **m**in* k*!" Then my vision went dark.

"Hey, so why do you want to help me?" A girls voice said. "Because I wanted to." It was my voice.

"That's great for you two. I'm still working on this!" A woman's voice complained. " 'before everything.' I thought. "How do you have like no real combat skills?" The girl's voice asked. "I don't know. Maybe I'm cursed?"

*piii!* 'I've heard this before.' I thought. Then something flew at me. "What was that?" The woman asked. ""What do you mean?"" I and the girl asked.

"Wait, what?" "What are you talking about Sophia?" I asked. *piiii!* 'what is that?' This time Sophia looked at me. "My skill really becomes useful at times like this." She said. 'What?' Then she hugged me. "good luck."

I opened my eyes. "What did she mean?" I tried to sit up. 'This is hard.' I continued trying, and finally sat up straight. 'I'll probably fall if I try walking.' "What was that though?" 'She started talking about her skill, and good luck?'

'The skill Sophia had was related to dreams.' I tried remembering but couldn't. "I feel like shiiit."

*creeaakk!* Brendon entered while looking down. "What is it?" I asked. "Why did she say you betrayed her?" He asked. "Probably because she felt that way." I answered.

"What did you do?" He asked. "Gave her a broken system." Brendon looked shocked. "Broken?! Is it dangerous?" I shrugged.

"I doubt it directly hurts her." 'The system is mainly just for information.'

"Directly?" He asked. "People that find out she has it, will probably think she can give it to more people." I explained. "Okay!" Then Brendon left.

'I should try to sense mana.' I started focusing on feeling mana. 'Wow, I barely feel anything.' It was way harder than previously when I had the skill.

But I could still feel something.

I was currently trying to figure out what this was. 'I am definitely confused.' There was a light gray screen in front of me.

'I can touch it, but my hand goes through it?' I could do light taps, but not more.

'Did Joseph give me this? And if so why?' Christine scratched her head. 'And I think I overreacted.' She stared at the screen.

'What? Why would it want that?' I quickly said no. Then the last message appeared.

'What? Who has given me that?' She quickly thought and came to one conclusion. 'Why did Joseph give me this? Since when?'

She had been mean to him. 'I don't get it.' "Christine!" Brendon walked up to her. Christine flinched. "Yeah!?"

"What does that thing do?" Brendon seemed curious. "What, the system?" she said. "Yeah." "I don't know how to use it." Christine stared at the ground.

"Can you try to ask it to help you?" Brendon suggested. "What? I don't think it's alive." Brendon stopped. "Brendon?" Then Brendon started walking in a circle.

"Christine." Brendon said. "Yeah?" "What if it is alive. That the system is alive in some way. I don't know how or if, but."

"Then did I get a child!!?" Christine asked loudly.
