Chapter 26

Amara sat on the balcony listening to the birds singing. It was sunny and a little bit windy, she watched as the trees swayed around. Today was a special day for her, it was her mother's birthday, she was planning on visiting her grave, but she knew she couldn't if Ian doesn't let her. "Ma'am, the young master is calling for you." Ian's butler said, standing on the door. She wanted to tell him to go to hell but she decided not to because she knew that if she wanted him to agree to let her go visit her mother's grave then she should not piss him off. "Alright I am coming." She said standing up.

"I am here." She said sitting down next to Ian on the couch. "Wow, I am surprised you didn't tell me my butler to tell me to go to hell." He said. "But anyway that is not why I called you here.... Go pack your stuff we'll be leaving fo Columbia in two hours ." He said. "What? Why?" She asked confused. "Well my grandparents called and they want to see us especially you." He said. "What but... I had other plans." She said. She didn't want to go without seeing her mother today. "Other plans?" He asked. "Well today is my mom's birthday and I wanted to go visit her grave today." she said. "No. Even if we weren't going to visit my grandparents, I would not let you visit her." He said truthfully. "Why?" She asked. "Because I don't want to, go and pack your staff." He said standing up and leaving.

They were now in Ian's private jet. They did not talk to each other they were both quiet. The silence was awkward. Amara was looking out the window, her mind was filled with thoughts. She wanted to cry but she couldn't. She felt guilty for not visiting her mother even though it was not her fault but she knew that the was nothing that she could do about it, for now. "Why are you quiet?" Ian asked placing his hand on top of hers. She quickly removed her hand. "Am I supposed to say something." Amara asked. "You were fine this morning, what has gotten into you?" Ian asked. Amara just kept quiet cursing him in her mind. "Honey, talk to me you are hurting my feelings." Ian said. "Do 'honey' me I am not your honey, nor will I ever be your honey, so stop calling me that. You have no heart so how are your feelings hurt." She said with tears threatening to leave her eyes. "Honey, you are my wife, so if you have any problems then please just tell me so that we can fix that problem." He said. "You are the problem Ian. So if you want to 'solve' the problem then go ahead and 'solve' yourself." She said. "And how do you expect me to do that honey." Ian asked. "I don't know. What I want is my freedom back."She said. "Freedom? What do you know about freedom? Are you talking about the one where you are being stalked twenty four seven? Locking yourself up in your room because you are afraid of becoming the next victim of who knows who?is that the kind of freedom you are talking about?" Ian asked. "Is that your idea of freedom? You know what just forget it." Amara said. Ian did not care to answer they just both kept quiet, both lost in their own thoughts. They didn't talk to each other for the entire flight.

After a long flight of pure silence they both finally arrived in Columbia. The refreshing air made Amara feel better, she was both happy and sad, she was happy because coming to Columbia had always been a dream of hers and she was sad because she couldn't visit her mother's grave. "Come on our car is just right up ahead." Ian said pulling her away from her thoughts. She looked at him. He was wearing simple clothes today not a suit like all the other days. He was wearing a black t-shirt with a cartoon character on the front, a black leather jacket and black jeans. He looked perfect, if only he had a perfect heart, Amara thought to herself. His body was perfect, his face was perfect, his hair was perfect but his heart, wasn't actually he didn't look like he had a heart at all. If only he was perfect on the inside maybe, just maybe she would fall in love with him, just maybe she would consider starting a family with him, just maybe she would be happy with him, maybe she would be the happiest bride in the world. They both arrived at the car and they got in, Ian was unusually quiet, he looked out of the window being lost in his own world. She couldn't help but keep staring at him. "If you think I am attractive then just tell me and stop staring at me because you are creeping me out." He said with smile on his face. "Do you think that you are attractive?" Amara asked him. "No I do not think that I am attractive, I KNOW that I am attractive." He said. "Well, to us humans you are not attractive, maybe to the demons you are attractive." She said. "Ouch, that hurts." He said holding his chest. "Do you ever get hurt?" She asked. "Well yeah, my heart has been hurt before." He said truthfully. "A girl?" She asked, in her eyes Ian did look like the kind of guy to be hurt by others. "Yes, and I made sure that it was the first and last time I got hurt by a girl." He said. "How?" Amara asked confused. "That is a topic for another day." He said with a smile on his face. Amara wanted to know so badly but she knew better not to force him to tell her, but how on earth do you make sure that you never get hurt by the opposite gender ever again.
