Dimfield and the Great Dungeon

They made it to the dungeon entrance. Kendell slipped the armor and garments he'd got on. He took one of the swords and cut the robe to just below waist length, the bottom of the robe was used to reinforce the chest plate's tightness to his back. He slid off the boots he'd gotten from the kingdom and put on the boots he got from the shop. Then he tied the string he got from the shop around his abdomen and waist area as tightly and snug as possible. The swords fit right in between the string, and he used the extra string to reinforce the robe.

"You look like a Cloven kingdom knight." Syndel said.

"As I intended, shall we?" Kendell asked as he placed the other things he had on into the carriage.

"You may go now." Syndel said to the knights.

They left, and now it was time for the real test.

Several people were already entering the dungeon and traversing the floors, the first few floors weren't littered with monsters, so they went in further.

"This is floor nine, there shouldn't be any strong monsters on this floor, and it gets more difficult as we go up. They continued on, there seemed to not be any monsters on the lower forty floors which was strange.

"We haven't seen anyone past this floor, we haven't run into any monsters either. Something feels off." Kendell spoke.

At that moment, they heard screaming and footsteps, loud stomping coming from the floor above. They followed the sound to nearly fifty adventurers battered and war torn, running for their lives. Behind them was a horde of monsters also, but it looked like they were running from something. The adventurers passed the two but stayed behind them. Kendell unsheathed the sword, looking over to Syndel. She nodded at him then he walked up. He began releasing his mana, infusing it with Ragnarök.

The air became heavy, immediately heating up the surrounding area. The sword slowly got hotter, starting to glow. He took one step and zipped into the crowd, the first few monsters got cut down so fast, the other adventurers felt inspired by his bravery and joined in. All of them began working together to kill the horde then last came a behemoth, Syndel came from the side lines and walked up beside Kendell. The two nodded at each other as they charged at the giant monster. The other adventurers followed suit, shooting arrows and casting magic at it.

They danced around the behemoth, flowing gracefully with every sword strike, Ragnarök fully activated by mistake as Kendell charged head on at the behemoth. Syndel cast an agility buffing spell on him, he got faster and jumped as high as he could almost touch the dungeon ceiling.

As he came down, he looked like a shooting star. Sword aimed down he yelled, as the impact hit the monster; it caused an explosion. Blowing a hole in the monster's nape. Kendell dug the sword as deep as he could into the back of its neck and heated the blade up, cooking the monster from the inside. Pulling the blade out, jumping off and cutting through its neck. The blade snapped. As it hit the ground, the dungeon shook. The other adventurers cheered.

Kendell, still alert looked towards the entrance to the floor above.

"Hey, you all get out of here, it's no longer safe." Syndel said to the other adventurers, they began evacuating the dungeon shortly after realizing. Syndel stepped up, light footsteps could be heard coming from above. A man in a dark red robe phased through the dungeon's floor.

"So, you're the one to make it to the top, huh? Strange... I wonder what happened to that party of yours. Oh, right. They perished because you were far too weak to even do anything. But it seems, you've come back with someone new, this is rather interesting I must say. I didn't see this coming at all. I will applaud you for making it past the forty-nineth floor. Your hopes of leaving here alive ends here an-"

Kendell flashed in front of him and managed to get a cut on his cheek. The hood of the robe was also cut off. The man in the robe snickered and regained his composure.

He smiled at Kendell as he took a few steps back.

"Get it together Syndel, now's not the time to check out!" Kendell yelled.

Syndel was spaced out, terrified and completely out of it. Frozen in place, her eyes were filled with despair as she started to remember that day.
