Interrogation 2

The chief of police was slowly beginning to lose patience with the young woman crying before him. He hadn't gotten a moment of rest ever since his men arrested Ian Forde. The Forde family matriarch was breathing down his neck and he desperately needed to resolve the issue before things escalated.

"Make me understand something, Mrs Hart, if you claimed your boss brutally raped you, then why didn't you report the incident when it happened? Why did you accept money from him after such a hideous act? Why did you wait until things spiralled out of control in your home before filing a report?"

"B... because my husband was in a critical condition." Lola half screamed. "I needed the money to save his life first. I wanted to make sure he was completely out of danger before suing Mr Forde. If you were in my shoes, wouldn't you do the same thing?"

"Calm down, Mrs Hart." The chief of police said in a slightly piqued tone. "I'm not your enemy and I can never fit in your shoes. I'm just here to resolve this issue and call it a day."

"I'm sorry." Lola shook with grief. "I'm tired of all of this. I just want my life back."

The chief of police sighed.

"Alright... for your final question, I need you to be very honest with me. I know this question may sound unpleasant to you and I apologize for however it would make you feel."

At this point, Lola didn't need anyone to tell her that the chief of police was a heavily prejudiced man.

"In other to solve the riddle behind your viral infection and pregnancy, I need to know if you have slept with any other man aside from your husband and Mr Forde."

"What!" Lola's piercing eyes shot daggers at the chief.

"Why don't you answer the question and save us all the drama." Ian's lawyer scoffed.

"I didn't sleep with Mr Forde, Sir." Lola banged her fist on the Chief's desk, screaming at the top of her lungs.

"He was the one who raped me and he was the one who infected me. I love my husband so much and I will never...ever cheat on him in a million years."

The chief of police was about to reprimand Lola for shouting in his face when suddenly, the entire room was engulfed with the pleasurable moaning of a familiar voice.

There was no case of screaming for help or any signs of forceful entry as the couple's rhythmic moaning resounded in the office.

On the contrary, It was simply the sounds of two lovers having the best moment of their life. At some point, the female voice professed her undying love to her male counterpart while mumbling vulgar words.

At first, Lola thought she was hearing strange voices. This couldn't be her voice even though it sounded perfectly like her. Even the vulgar words she was saying sounded alien to her.

"I knew a day like this would come. So I kept hard evidence. I have this captured on audio and video. I can even play the video for all to see. But being an empathetic boss, I will pause this audio recording now for the sake of her dying husband. I wouldn't want to worsen his already deplorable state."

Ian's vicious taunting added the final recipe to Lola's destruction.

"So Mrs Lola Hart, you were saying?" Ian's conceited lawyer added the final nail to her coffin.

Lola's face paled and she shrunk ten times deeper into her seat.

Reddened and puffed up like an over inflated balloon, Brian turned to face Lola.

"You despicable slut."

Smack!

Smack!!

Brian struck his wife fiercely on either side of her cheek.

"Ah..." Lola shrieked as blood and bile shot up her throat. She felt her vision blur out as the seat fell backwards due to the force of the slap.

For the very first time in their five years of marriage, Brian had broken his promise to never hit her, irrespective of the provocation.

"Mr Hart...how dare you!" the chief of police shot up to his feet, wagging a finger threateningly at Brian.

"Are you aware of the implication of what you just did? Do you know you could go to jail for hitting your wife in my presence?"

"Please, chief..." Brian stood up and stretched out both his trembling hands towards the chief of police. "...Please handcuff me and throw me into jail right now. I want to be as far away as possible from this Jezebel."

Ian felt something pierce through his cold heart at Lola's shrieks. He felt her pain and instantly regretted his actions. Sadly, the damage was already done and there was no going back.

The chief of police picked up his phone to call in one of his standby officers when Lola started pleading on her husband's behalf.

"Please, Sir, don't arrest my husband. It's all my fault. I deserved it."

"Goodness gracious!" The chief felt weakened.

"I'm sorry, baby..." Lola knelt before her viciously enraged husband, her trembling hands clasped together. "I'm...s... sorry! I'm s...so sorry."

"Don't you ever in your miserable life call me your baby, again." Brian barked at his wife, wagging his finger threateningly at her. Then he pleaded earnestly with the chief of police.

"Sir, please... Can we round up this meeting? I need to leave this suffocating place."

"The meeting will be over in a few minutes. In the meantime, I will suggest you deal with your emotions and keep your hands to yourself. If you dare lay another finger on your wife you'll be charged to court and thrown into jail." The chief warned sternly.

"Okay, chief. But I need to make one thing clear to Mr Forde before we continue." Brian's frigid voice was chilly enough to freeze a lake.

"I'm listening." Ian cleared his throat to stifle the anguish slowly taking shape in his heart.

Brian took in deep breath to cage the monster in his heart begging to be released.

"Whatever kindness you think you gave to me, I have paid back in full," Brian said between gritted teeth.

"My family and I do not owe you a cent. So you can keep your disgusting lover all to yourself."

"What payment is this fool yapping about." Ian asked, his voice dripping with mockery and confusion. "What I gave to your wife was a gift for her services. I never collected anything from you or her as a refund."
