Chapter 26: Sidekick

As Gunslinger was about to finish his daily patrol report including some moments where Gunslinger meet up with celebrities, Actors, Some heroes, first responders, and fans wanting photos and stopping small petty crimes by using tazers, or non-lethal alternative guns to stop them including rubber rounds. Then Rey began to think about something and yes he needs sidekicks not just people who supported him as well as some helping hands. So he began to look through some of the résumés for later as soon as he returned to his agency.

Rey then checks the number of Heroes some quirks are barely useful as well as those who have powerful quirks but first he needs to do an interview with some who have potential. He wanted to make sure that Rey picked those who are ready to either taking a life or even ready to take on the worst villain that are highly valued. Also don't want to deal with people having arrogant and cocky attitudes, as well as pacifist people. These types of people are going to be a big problem to him that pacifist people are both a blessing as well as a curse if they don't want to kill the villain since they don't want to but if everything is thrown out of the window they will get desperate and kill themselves and also cause more problems than solving them. Then there are those who have an attitude since those people will have to deal with killing since they will be that cocky that they will not admitted themselves that it's their fault and blame and start pointing fingers and believes that they are above the law. He has to admit it that those guys are the worst to be hired as heroes as Rey then began to pick the heroes he wanted to do an interview.

Few days later

Gunslinger have picked several heroes worthy working as a sidekick in his agency since then many have a big potential but first he has to find out what they truly are. Then The sidekicks began to see the heroes wearing hero costumes some wear skin-tight outfit he don't blame those who are like this. Then there some who wear thick clothing as he see those who are nonchalant, Arrogant, Calm, then lastly nervous. Then Rey Went to his main office and check the surveillance system in one of the cameras. He wanted to check the reception test where if they have the patience to do so. In the reception desk was Sims incharge of the front desk works from claiming mail, interaction with other people, and informing Gunslinger about the situation and other important business.

Others have neutral and understanding faces as Rey will have to remove the ones who has a small amount of patients. Then he continues on checking with the potential sidekicks as Rey began to observe once more as he also looks at the resumes as Rey then called in one of the heroes.

After calling some of them he has a separate pile which sidekick he wanted in his agency since he needs 2 for now since he has a small hero agency and still have to build up the cash he needed to expand his Agency. As for the heroes there were soo many red flags from brash attitudes, Arrogance through the roof, Sadist, Greedy, Wrathful, until he met the last one. She was shy and by the looks of her, she has Blonde hair, Green eyes, and some freckles, and her outfit she was wearing a coat, Cowboy hat, Horse riding shoes, as she removed her coat he can see that she is wearing a grey checkered polo-shit, and jeans.

"Good day to you miss... Cowgirl" Rey said as he check the sidekick's resume resume.

"Yes...that's me sir Gunslinger and good day to you mister..." She said shyly as she took her seat.

"Now tell me now missy... What's your reason to be a hero?" He asked one of his testing questions

"Well... I-I used to care for my ranch back in the countryside and there were some times that when I look at heroes on the TV I always admired them and second is to help my family with the...erm...small crisis we have back in my home ranch..." She said as Rey raised a brow

"Crisis You say huh?" As Cowgirl began to question her. "Well...my ranch is in debt and my dad doesn't want his ranch to be sold of to some corporates... My family's ranch was there during the prequirk era selling good breed of horses and giving of course training course as well... Then yeah including to protecting my family from not just scumbags like them but also paying of my family's debt." she said as Rey began to though about this.

'Trying to go to the hero career just to pay of her family's debt huh....Alright then I guess it's fine' he said as he start his second question "So then Miss Cowgirl what is your Quirk?" He began to ask about her quirk as he sees that Cowgirl began to look down and began to explain about her quirk " Well... My quirk is called Horse whisperer.... It's self explanatory... I have the ability to talk to horse and the horses also communicate to me as well... And I trained myself how to defend myself I learned some mixed martial arts and some Karate lesson... Also learned how to use a lasso" she said as she showed her lasso to Gunslinger as he nods.

"Now tell me then why me than any other agencies like Dirty Dan and other heroes in Texas but mines?" He asked as a Rey saw some slight anxiety and a bit of depression. "Well... Sir ... You see I actually killed a person by Accident and I was given a criminal charge for that" Then Rey looks at Cowgirl with a serious look as she began to panick a bit and stutter a bit.

"W-well I was back in my University years when I began to train my quirk. S-some girls and their boyfriends began to bully me including them until my horses not just my personal horse. But some horses in the ranch began to galloping towards UT Dallas where I studied due to my quirk getting out of hand they trampled and stampeded them to death. I was charged for murder and yeah the families of the deceased began to blame me for their deaths. Not just that my teacher and peers began to look at me with disgust because I killed them. My family knew about the bullying and tried their best to defend me but they can't until you came in." Rey then looked at Cowgirl with a raised eyebrow.

"Why me?" Rey asked "I was given another time for a trial then the judge who gave me that charge was killed in your hunts and they realize that he was corrupt and was bribed from the my bullies families. So they replaced it with a new one as He checked the case and I told him about my quirk and yeah he knew that it was an act of self defense. So Yeah I was this close on getting a criminal charge and I was not liable for the cause of their deaths since it's an act of self defense from by quirk as well as my horses who are close to me. And the case was closed and my bullies families were now liable for child neglect, Acts of Bribery, and several frauds." She said as she has some confidence in her tone "So yeah the reason why I wanted to work with you is that to show the world that I'm a hero in my own way just like you. Who was once a Vigilante now a hero as soon as I see you I began to admire your way of freedom while doing hero work killing those bastards like it was nothing so yeah" she said as Rey find this cute and wholesome at the same time.

"I mean I say your horse...Welp I need to make a somewhat of a stables for your horses if you're bringing them here" he said as CowGirl is confused about this" what do you mean about that sir?" Her asking "Welp Congratulations Cowgirl your hired" he said as Cowgirl began to thank Rey and shaking his hand so hard that Rey was overwhelmed by her energy.

"Alright, Alright we will start working on Monday alright" he said as Cowgirl nodded in agreement as she left the agency with an happy look as Rey smirked from Cowgirls innocence.
