Imagine yourself dying and reincarnating into the book series where you know the future, where magic is a thing, and where your whole family belongs to the side which is destined to lose the coming war. Will you change your destiny? Will you try to become one of the 'good guys' or push the Dark side to win? Or maybe you will be neither... *cover picture doesn't belong to this author.

Chapter 1Beginning

I didn't expect to die at the grand age of thirty. Who does? But... life happens, as do road accidents.

Thousands of people die on the roads each year and I just became another statistic number somewhere out there.

What I didn't expect, however, was waking up in a body of a six-year-old blond boy the very next moment. I could remember my last life, but I also had this child's memories.

I admit I was a bit stupid and didn't immediately associate this boy's rather infamous name with my own most favorite book. So sue me for being a dunderhead!

At first I thought that my parents were some weird fanatics of the Harry Potter series. But then I remembered that my new family was part of nobility, so how could that be?

And then it hit me: magic!

M-A-G-I-C

This word by itself is wondrous!

And suddenly it became real.

My new name was Draco Lucius Malfoy and I am a wizard.

I was glad that my carers were house elves and that my parents were rarely at home or paid much attention to me. House elves didn't question why the usually cheerful and a little bit arrogant young master of the Most Ancient and Noble House was suddenly going through a midlife crisis. Or why his personality changed. Or all the questions he suddenly asked (Where's the dining room? Where am I? Am I really Draco Malfoy? Does magic exist? Does Harry Potter?).

After the first few days that I spent mourning my lost life, previous family and the fact that I reincarnated as a madman's loyal servant's only son, I decided to set the depressing thoughts aside and enjoy my second childhood. Only with magic this time.

It also really helped that I knew the future to some extent and could take preventative measures to protect myself. Maybe I would even help my current family. I didn't feel attached to them. I hadn't even seen much of my mother or father apart from an hour each day, and that was at dinner.

I felt pity for the real Draco who grew up like that, without much attention or love from his parents. It's no wonder he ended up as an arrogant and proud boy - his parents, my new parents, showered him with material things instead of warm words or comforting hugs. So, in his mind it appeared that the more presents his parents gave, the more they loved him. And a poor family like Weasleys, who couldn't afford much, became something to be scorned because in Draco's head - they didn't love enough.

Draco was a cheerful boy, who idolized his father and tried his best to make him proud. As I merged my consciousness with Original's, I started to understand him more.

As days passed by, I gradually couldn't separate us anymore - his memories became mine, and mine became his. I could tell this because gradually our emotions overlapped and the boy that resulted from this merge/partial reincarnation was a bit arrogant, a bit cheerful and very mature. And this boy still somehow respected Lucius Malfoy, and wanted to make him proud!

The horror!

I gradually settled down in my new life and a new Draco Malfoy was born in the Most Ancient and Noble House of Malfoy.

Until this series, I don't think i have ever been able to read a fan fiction beyond the first few chapters. I binged this over the weekend. I love the view of the Wizarding world from the perspective of a 'pureblood' tempered by the awareness of a transmigrated reader of the books. Almost everything landed for me in this series; -the smarter classier version of Malfoy, -the deep exploration of magic that was never really addressed in the books. -the nuance in the good vs evil/light vs dark perspectives with Malfoy being more grey, -the political and cultural ramifications of muggle born wizards integrating and changing magical society is fascinating. -It changes the purely racist, evil, and unrelateable stance of purebloods in the books to an understandable fear of their culture being lost or destroyed. I even liked the inclusion of differences between pureblood and muggle born magic affinities with both having their advantages. Obviously, there are still the extremist hardliners that are pretty evil but even that has some compelling reasons behind it. I love the exploration of what motivates the characters and the different views they have. As for my personal low points; -The rescue mission in the Egypt arc early on(wasn't terrible just didn't spark my interest). -I get nervous when the story gets close to addressing his transmigration status(could go either way for me). -I get a little annoyed when certain characters (2 of them) misunderstand and ascribe Gryfindorish/heroic traits to the MC when it is in opposition to his actual motives and character. It's rare and usually played for a laugh. (overuse of that one killed another series for me called 'Trash of the Count's Family')
