Lucien looked at Leonard for a second before responding immediately. "Sure,"
Without Leonard's insistence, Lucien would likely have accepted his offer anyway. After all, he didn't have statistics on the abilities of other students to determine the best fit. He was also unfamiliar with them. It made sense for him to stick with someone he was already familiar with, and in this case, that was Leonard.
As for Leonard's promises about wanting to show his bloodline power, Lucien just views it as a bonus.
